The provenance on this bottle was very good, so your results may vary. The nose of cedar and wet earth is just stunning. The color is a sharp burgundy with no bricking. The taste is smooth, silky, good fruit, nice bite of acid. This aged into an exceptionally pleasant wine with a long finish. Stunning.

After 22 years of good cellaring this wine was in excellent shape. The cork was perfect, and the color of the wine just BARELY suggesting some brick at the edges of the wine glass. Decanted for 30+ minutes, and drank over next hour+ from Reidel Vinum Cab glasses. Good depth on the palate, nice mid-palate impression, and luscious tannins, still good fruit and some forward spiciness. wet leather and dark fruits on the finish. Lovely wine, and the aroma was great. The kind of aroma that suggests you are going to love this wine. Some sediment in the bottle, which I like. I get scared when there is no sediment after 20 years of bottle age. Knowing Don Van Staveren (winemaker), he likely only fined this with egg whites. A touch of sourness means its time to drink up :) No point in waiting. And No point score here (whats the point?). A wine that was great, and is still in (mostly) good shape.

Mid-Aged Zinfandel and Cali Cab Dinner (Casa Garard - Northfield IL): Tasted double blind in vertical. Very much past its peak. First vintage made.
