This is a nice well aged wine. It's a bit more on the fruit forward side, but not overdone. I wouldn't say extra complex, but a wine that seems to work really well as an after dinner drink. If food, would have required something a bit more intense (perhaps like a red meat). As it was though it stood well by itself. Not sure this has a ton of life left or perhaps there had been some mediocre storage because it was getting just a touch of the vinegar flavor. Not scoring as a result, but if I had would have been an 89 or so.

A step down from the crozes varonniers, this is still very nice and forward, seems fully mature, no hard edges left here, just fun and drinkability, syrah in a very soft way. very nice - almost too nice. from mathusalem#ChapoutierParty

Mature nose. Some barnyard and secondary aromas. Red fruits...somewhat unbalanced on palate...acidity outplays fruit, but still pretty nice with food...drink up.

Really hitting stride - secondary notes of truffle, earth and spice are rounded out with dried currants/cassis notes. Great acidity to balance the soft and round tannins. wish I had more than just a few bottles!

What a great bottle. A powerful and perfumed nose (very seductive), with a surprisingly delicate palate. All the classic Rhone notes and a perfect balance. It feels ready to drink, and I doubt further age will improve it.
