  • Bricking with noticeable sediments. Guessed a early '90s or late '80s from the secondary herbal tea, mushrooms on the nose. Palate-wise was still reasonably fresh. Ripe, with excellent concentration for a Savigny. In fact, I'm quite surprised by the concentration. This will probably not improve much in bottle, so time to drink up!

  • A whiff of TCA which blows off and does not reappear. Clear. Medium ruby with slight bricking. Nose is bright, fruity, dried cherry, strawberry, more youthful than expected. Quite fine but still-present tannin, good acidity, full midpalate, long flavourful finish. Tannin slightly out of balance with fruit/acidity, but not obtrusive. Touch of wood and dried herbs. Lovely. Has some additional evolution, but drinks beautifully now. Like a poweful Volnay. Rebuy, yes. These wines are very good value, IMHO, and can improve with age disproportionate to their cost.
