  • Considerable bricking in the glass, but still holds up well on the palate. Heavy graphite with some cassis and plum. The cork was in amazing condition. It’s more interesting than tasty at this point. But still a well put together offering at almost three decades old. Drink now to 2027.

  • Wow! A properly cellared bottle like this is a true celebration with every sip. Still youthful. The only thing wrong with this bottle is that it is my last. Great of A+.

  • Stood up for five days and decanted for two and a half hours. A dry cork that broke upon opening. Pours a deep ruby fading to a pale ruby outer edge. A stunning, highly enticing nose where ripe, sweet fruits jump from the glass with black cherry and damson leading the charge. There’s a damp herbaceous quality, red liquorice, turned earth, and macerated strawberries providing additional layers. As we turn to the palate the fruit profile is far darker than the nose - delivering real concentration and density - and taking in a touch of liquorice along the way. A beautiful Sonoma Mountain Cabernet that has years of pleasure left to give. Superb.

  • On this night I the other red we had was a Chateauneuf du Pape and I thought this was that. It has the red licorice and florals that I associate with the southern Rhone. It does have the damp earth Cabernet note, and I also get kind of a candied strawberry. Black plum is the dominant fruit on the palette alongside black cherry. Some smokiness too. Massive grippy tannin. More herbaceousness showed up on the third glass. Excellent. Finish could be longer, but based on other reviews, food or even more time could bring this

  • Kleur: Diep robijnrood. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 15 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 89/100

Colour: Deep ruby red. Aroma / bouquet: Subtle and almost 'fragile' bouquet, little expressive but above average complex, refined and pleasant. Only tertiary aromas, mushrooms with a hint of truffle, wet forest soil. Taste / Aftertaste: Mature. Buttery soft. Refined acidity. The tannins are soft, but still offer structure and a subtle but tough character. Long finish. General / potential: If I had tasted this wine blind, I would rather have it as a matured Bordeaux than a matured wine from California and not even Sonoma! 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / Bouquet: 11 + Taste / Aftertaste: 15 + General / Potential: 8 = 89/100
