Very nice aged Barbaresco. Restrained but rich, suave and in great balance. Medium body. Cooked plum gets fresher with air. Smoked and notes of beef and vegetable broth, very appealling. Good volume, sweet tannins, long and light.

The Underground Blind Tasting Group: Single Vineyard Barolo & Barbaresco (Houston): Medium red color throughout. Herbal nose with florals and cherries. Similar flavors on the palate, but lacked a bit of concentration and complexity. This was relatively light bodied, but that was accompanied by a lower acidity. This tasted a bit "worked" to me on this night, although everything could have been extremely out of balance as well.

Color was translucent ruby. Nose was minerally and floral with some dark berries and earthiness on the back. Palate was mostly minerally and floral with blackberries and some blueberries lingering. The wine was reticent with showing fruit. Tannins were fine and elegant with a moderately long finish.

This wonderful dark wine needs some breathing. We had it for 45 minutes in a decanter. Then, three layers of nicely toned minerals appear, with some hints of dark fruit. This wine is now on or tipping over its top: drink now!

Full body. Tannic. Earthy. Dark fruit. Maybe too restrained on the fruit. Needs time to soften up, but worried that the fruit will not hold in there.
