Still very much alive 38 years after the vintage. Toast, perry (pear cider), lemon peel, smoky caramel, with a long long aftertaste. This really was a pleasure. This should be fine for another 3 or 4 years.

I have very little experienced with aged Champagne, but after this bottle I may have to change that. Superb bubbly, with a yeasty and slight bacony (is there such a word) bouquet. On the palate it displayed vibrant fruit and finished with length elegance.

Ripple and Ridonculous Wines (Ripple - Cleveland Park - Washington, DC): So alive and bright, I can’t believe this is 30 years old. Notes of peanut oil, honey and dried pineapple, but it’s balanced with bright acid, rushing minerals and a salty complexity. Gorgeous stuff, so alive and unique. From magnum.

Winorama: A winter in Wineland III; 1/4/2019-1/13/2019 (Portland/Willamette, Eureka, Napa): I was surprised at how well this was drinking. Often with the older champagnes you get more of the oxidized character which I don't mind, but this still seemed quite fresh. It's more darker caramel flavors. Still some toast. Very tasty.
