  • A year on (plus a day) but looking fresher, more vibrant. Gorgeous soft gold colour.

Developing nose. More buttered than toasty, perhaps honey too, overlaying deep preserved citrus flavours.

The palate's long and true. Still fresh and lively. Cuts a decent groove that would make Tony Joe White get his Wah-Wah going. Lovely now but should keep cruising for another decade or so.

PS no wine was lost or spilt in the making of this note. Leo the ‘Hedgehog’ (now almost 2) counter measures were employed to the max, even if he maintained his form by refusing to fall asleep at a decent hour.

  • Gorgeous gold green. Semi maturing nose. Lightly toasted, butter, bath salts, creamy almost, then with air, mandarin. Attractive.

Needs breathing. Initially the palate started strong - rich, toasty entry - but seemed to wane, citrus and fine acid dipping on the middle and feathering on the back. I wondered if I was judging harshly, having recently had the 2014 (faster developing but richer) and 2012 (a thoroughbred, fantastic).

But it grew in intensity and line over an hour or so, with more depth, that mandarin flavour asserting itself, finely tuned acid woven through the satisfying medium intensity palate.

It will live for a decade under screwcap but agree with below that it’s in its drinking window, for the next five years. Decanting recommended.

Caveat. Take care where you place your glass. The 10 month old (Leo ‘the hedgehog’) knocked over my last glass. Desperate times called for desperate measures. Opened the 2013. Peace and goodwill restored. No wineglass was broken or harmed in the making of this note.

  • Despite the 10 years of age drinking remarkably well and full mouth flavour- deep yellow colour displays the age but fruit and aroma still ever present

  • Bright straw/gold. Limes dominate the nose with a hint of herbs. On the palate there's citrus and some minerality. Good acid. Drinking well but for me I would drink up in the next couple of years. A nice wine.

  • Riesling Lunch (Frank's place in Matraville): aromas of lime, kerosene, slightly dusty notes with a little saline herbaceousness underpinning this. With time meat, tomato leaf, sulphur. Sharply juicy, citrus, touches of green apple, slight alcohol warmth, it's also a bit skinny and linear. Hmm.
