This wine shows well above it's pedigree. Lovely secondary complex aromas. Drinking perfectly with silk and velvet notes on the palate. Tannins resolved. Just the right amount of fruit, acid to balance. Wish I had more of this one.

Chicago Wine Flock..."Wines that Bill B Loves" (goosefoot - Chicago IL): Served double blind. Meaty and powerful mature black fruit that came across more ripe than I expect from 1993s. Good balance of red and black fruit with mushroom character and very appealing spice. Moderate length. Very impressive Villages wine. I thought it 1989 Grand or 1er Cru.

Incredibly dense for a 93, village level wine. The very high acidity made it interesting and impressive rather than hedonistic - definitely the type of wine which makes people who don't get burgundy nod their heads and think to themselves "these burgophiles are just fooling themselves..."
One to share with fellow foolish burgophiles rather than with enjoyment-loving muggles.

Pale (but bright) red color that fades to clear at the edge of the glass. Upon opening, some funk but it blows off quickly. Nose is reluctant to reveal itself - but with an hour of air - aromas of sweet/smokey red cherries, violet, dirt, herbal notes, licorice begin unfold. The wine is fairly light on the palate. The firm tannic structure and acidity are a suprise. Will follow for a few more hours and edit this ntoe. An hour or so later, the wine is still lovely on the nose. However, the acidity is still a problem for my palate.

Astringent, acidic, barely drinkable.
