Really enjoyed this wine. Classic Barolo drinking beautifully. All the tannins have been smoothed away and you're left with an almost sweet perfectly balanced wine.

Decanted ca. 4 hours. This was very pale when it was first opened, but it put on weight over the course of about two hours, with flavors evolving from candied cherry and strawberry to include cherry, raspberry, and earthy truffle notes, with a hint of tannin and good acidity on the medium finish. Although this isn't completely over the hill, I think I would have liked it more a few years ago; the fruit is fading.

No formal note. Needed some time to open up, but once it did, it certainly delivered. Classic aged barolo with the fruit very much alive and a fine string of tertiary notes. At Villa Tiboldi in Canale.

Dinner at La Sirene (NYC): Light, bright with lovely perfume, flowers, raspberry. This is at a wonderful age and has a still rich, firm, and fairly strong core with pretty high toned flavors. Aged Barolo is quite a treat. Very very nice. A-

Sadly, this wine was over the hill. The fruit ahd dried and there was a slight funk on the nose
