Well, this was bit of a surprise! The color had no signs of age, the nose did have some secondary notes of the Rutherford dust but the fruit was dominate. This still has a ton of structure and enjoyed over an hour with no sign of going flabby. This was a joy to drink. One more puppy in the cellar.

Decanted and let it breath for about an hour before dinner. On opening it had some funkiness that almost smelled corked and tasted sour cherries. I had some hope based on Burgundy Al’s note. The funk did blow off, it was still high toned after an hour, the sour cherry bitterness softened. It paired well with the steak and salmon. After two hours it started to unwind more and deliciousness factor went up and the wine disappeared quickly. It needs time to unwind but it didn’t have much tannins so I wouldn’t sit on these too much longer.

Wine has has great fruit structure, but it is in a dumb phase. Hopefully it will age out of it.

On pnp this was very lively with bright cherry, after 2 hours of slow ox this velvety deliciousness and stayed that way for several hours. I’m glad I have one more puppy of this one.

This is an aged sake, it is well made. This definitely needs food with it for me. Note on the bottle mentions nutty flavors and I would agree. Maybe this is phenomenal with steak but I only had sushi. I prefer eternal embers over this one.

This was stupid good. This is one of those syrahs that is light on its feet. Wine experts always say Syrah and Pinot noir are close in profiles. This was a great example on how close they are without having to break the bank. This had no signs of fading over 3 hours of being open so I would say this easily has 3-5 years left in it. Highly recommend all of Haarmeyer wines.

This wine is singing beautifully! Tons of primary fruit, hints of secondary and tertiary flavors. Tannins are resolved, the finish is long and smooth. Highly recommend drinking now.

Really interesting take on viognier, almost orange wine. I got tons of tangerine and bitters.

Wonderful wine, lots of structure and primary fruit. The secondary and tertiary flavors from age are more subtle accents. The tannins have resolved nicely, Pnp this ready to go. Caution on the cork, very soft cork I recommend the ah so to pull it.

This was a nice champagne for the price. Medium bubble, no hard edges. I got a lot of apple and light toast initially but the apple faded and toasted note elevated. I’m not of apple in champagne but patience paid off in the end.

Starting to get tired but it’s great juice. Love Ali Mayfield juice.

Pure joy! On the nose I had the same funk as the rock district. The palate was silky smooth with raspberries and strawberries. The flavors went on and on, with wanting a refresh to keep it going. Loved this and I’m glad I have one more.

Still vibrant and delicious. It does gain a little weight with air overall really good. Drink up.

Not a fan of this. First off this was the darkest yellow I have ever seen for a Sauv Blanc. The taste is raw lemon juice, pucker up baby. The cider they produce is stellar, not sure the cider method works for this.

Beautifully made, I also got the heat from the alcohol but it blew off. Nice red berry notes with the acid gift just the right amount of lift. Recommend drinking soon.

Last puppy, was a little skeptical when I pulled it and the cork was soft. Used the Ah-so and it came out clean but probably would have broken. Pretty much pnp’d it initially was closed down but it didn’t take long for the primary fruit to appear with with secondary and some tertiary notes staying in the background. Tannins are mostly resolved but there is some grip there. Definitely a big wine on the first night, definitely needs some food. The second night is much easier to sip on its own. My favorite pairing is chocolate with this wine. I think this has quite a few more years ahead of it. Great stuff!
Sake
Really fantastic stuff, highly recommend.

Smooth and silky, violets, raspberry and rhubarb. Let it breath for an hour and you’ll be rewarded in spades. This is in the sweet spot, drink up.

Superb! Still a PnP that benefits with air. This has shown no signs of aging, still fresh as it was three years ago. This was perfect on its own. Tons of red fruits and nice acid backbone to maintain the structure. I don’t think I’ll sit on the other bottles much longer, the wine is in a great spot still.

Drank over two nights and this is hitting on all cylinders on the first night. More fruit forward with a great balance of acid backbone with a bit of minerality crunch. The next night the wine filled out to fuller and more luxurious. I’m a fan of both versions, time to pop these.

If you’re looking for ringer in a blind tasting that smells and taste pretty darn close to Tempier rose this is the one. The nose had citrus blossom with orange rind with hints of strawberry behind the blood orange. The first thing that hit me on the pallet was the citrus fruit and red fruits but right behind it was minerality with some viscous salinity that just fills the mouth. This is bone dry if you were comparing the notes from the last vintage. I’m a big fan of this, just wish I was able to procure more than two...and now one. I think this one will benefit with a year.

2012 Passopisciaro Passorosso Terre Siciliane Nerello Mascalese (view label images)
Definitely needs some air, very raisins cherries on pnp. After about 45 minutes the raisin and prunes blew off and pretty well came together. I don’t think this has the legs for a long haul, probably have another year but it’s on the end of its plateau. Drink up.

This is quite tastey, I would peg this closer to Grenache Rose than a Pinot rose. Nice bright citrus with strawberry and crunchy minerality. Well made and highly recommend, I prefer Rose with a year on it so this right up my alley.

2017 Arnot-Roberts Rosé California Touriga Nacional (view label images)
Still kicking, it’s lost its edginess but gained some weight which still compliments the overall structure. I got more blood orange and herbal notes than previous bottles. It developed well over a few hours. Great rose.
Orange
This is really rockin’ right now, it’s softened and filled out really well. Orange blossom, citrus rind, and some dusty notes. Mouthfeel was great, I didn’t get the normal astringent flavors from orange wines with this one. This was hard to stop pouring another glass. I recommend drink now.

How? How am I the only one on CT with bottles of this masterpiece. It’s a perfect balance of lemon, flinty, salty and floral bouquet. The wine gain weight and viscosity with air with no degradation in the previous notes. This made it disappear even faster. This is a wine that will make you smile.
Red
Really delicious stuff, probably at its peak. Pnp’d lots of red fruits with some secondary flavors and it had a touch of acid that made me worry for a bit. Would the acid harmonize or dominate, fortunately it harmonized and the wine just got bigger and velvet smooth with air.

A beserker day deal, a really nice expression of muscat. Very easy drinker, completely dry so it pairs with everything. I don’t see these lasting long.

Really delicious, more bright flavors than I’m used to in champagne but tons of minerality and had a ice weight to it. I’m not a fan of effervescent sparklers, I usually eat with my sparklers so this is definitely a buy again.

What a fabulous wine! Drank over two days, the maintained a light to medium weight on both days with no sign of oxidation on the second. On the nose this had more blossom and peaches than lemon and hay. All the parts were there that made you want to just smell it all night. The pallet had more lemon rind and stone fruits with a touch of minerality. As the wine opened it developed some viscosity and a little oil which paired very well with herb stuffed chicken. I think this will drink well for the next 3-5 years.
Sake
Definitely bigger than most sake that I’ve had recently, can tell the brewer didn’t polish the rice down to daiginjo levels. I think that’s what gave this more texture and it begs for something bigger than sushi. I also detected a slight sweetness to this, very easy to drink. Not a great QPR, I will probably not buy this again at its current price.

This has aged very well. The nose had toasted almonds with slightly yeasty but nice balance of lemon citrus and apple. The bubbles were lively, but not sharp very smooth and delicious. Wish I held the others.

Pretty great QPR for this wine. Not overtly complex but nice structure and not too sweet. Paired great with chili, will buy again if I see it in the store.

If you want a wine that will pair with anything or awesome by itself, then this is the wine for you. It is light with tons of fruit and bit of minerality to keep things interesting. I had this over two nights and it showed wonderfully on the second night. I might have to order more. Got get some, it’s awesome.

This is a fantastic pet-nat, nice fine bubbles with the wine has a softness that makes it so easy to drink. Perfect with everything on the thanksgiving table, my favorite pairing though was the banana pudding. May have pop another bottle just eat the rest the dessert.

I’m on the fence about this wine on whether I like it or not. It desperately needs food with it, maybe a chicken piccata. The nose was minerals with lemons, with a light hint of petrol. On the pallet, it is all acid with a structured wine behind the curtain of acid. I looked at the release notes and it states that the grapes came from notoriously high acidic vineyard. The acid did mellow on the third day, but wine oxidized by then. I recommend sitting on these for a while.

This rose is becoming one of our favorites, lots of lively bubbles with just the right balance of red berries, lemon peel, toast and slight hint of anise. On the pallet the bubbles were soft and refined with a touch of acidity to give it a boost of zip begging for another sip. Bottle was gone way too fast. I highly recommend this producer.

I remember my first bottle of this was delicious, but this bottle was not what I remember. If it wasn’t for the bottle saying it was Chardonnay I would have guessed this to lemon concentrate. All lemon all the time.

Wow, 2010 Ultramarine continues to be my favorite so far. This rose has the perfect balance of fruit, herbs and toast. Caution, there was so much pressure under the cork that mine still escaped even with my thumb on top...nearly got a black eye.

Got the funky nose as well but it blew off for me pretty quick leaving orange blossoms, honey, and oily minerality...not sure how else to describe it. On the pallet it has a lot of texture and depth. Pretty delicious stuff but definitely need to be in the mood for the style.

This was sooo good, right from pop to the last pour. The wine is balanced and bursting with red fruit, rhubarb, some smokey depth. This QPR is off the charts.

This is one serious rose, I suggest letting it breath for at least an hour. It develops a rich silky depth bursting with fruit. This is one that will benefit with some age.

Really delicious, wonderful floral fruit if that makes since. First Motley wine and I’m a fan.

Just sublime! I didn’t take notes so I’ll do my best. The nose was crazy complex with lemon, minerality, orange rind, some toast, honey just a lot but everything was singing the same tune. This wine like other Sanguis whites is viscous and mouth filling, but has a strong back bone to pair up with any meal, had this with herb crusted salmon and roasted veggies.

Aw man killed my only ‘18. Well it was fantastic, had it over three days. On day one, the nose was bursting with red berries, slight pepper, and a little floral. On the pallet it was smooth with a little weight to it with berries galore, love the fruit. My thought that this is ultimate food wine. Vacuumed the wine and let it slow ox for two days, had the remainder with steak, this built up in weight fruit didn’t fade. Tonight it was reminiscent of a Syrah, the pallet was fuller and just as smooth. Everything was well balanced. Wish I had another.
