Out of curiosity, purchased and tasted one bottle.

- Colour : some evolution, red transparent, slight watery at edge
- Nose : mint, laurel, cherry, charred fruits, fine woody hint, herbal, after swirling quite a lot of red fruit, some "stank"
- Taste : quite light ( too light ), red fruit, some cherry, not impressed
- Finish : fine ( less robust as hoped ), lingers for the odd second, juicy though

Strange - I've had Pomerol 09 before and those bottles blew me of my socks - this one didn't.
Had one given me this bottle in blind tasting, I would have guessed odd year St. Emilion Grand Cru.

Nice experience to have tasted, but won't buy again. Drink now, won't improve ( imho ).

White - Sweet/Dessert
No formal notes, just remember very interesting and exciting, vibrant wine ! Will buy again !

First of three bottles ...

+ Preparation : decanted 1/2 bottle for 1 Hrs, rest ex bottle
+ Nose : quite timid, red fruits, some plum, slightly woody, vanilla
+ Taste : nice, ripe fruits ( black ), plum, cherry, soft tannins ( already well integrated )
+ Finish : soft, smooth, licorice, lingers on quite well, Merlot dominated

Honestly ? A well made wine for a difficult vintage, very good job on the Merlot.
Not a high flyer, nor long storage, but a wine to enjoy at its early / fruity stage.
I paid 38 Euro when they dumped the 2013 on the market, and glad to have two more bottles !

First of four bottles, purchased in local supermarket at 31€ / bottle.

+ Colour : straw yellow, with a few hints of greenish taint. Silky, narrow tears running down the glass
+ Nose : plenty of agrum, zeste of lime & orange, some pineapple, mineral and quite grassy
+ Taste : bone dry, very mineral like, salty, good acidity, nice and greasy from the Semilion
+ Finish : good length, pear, white stone fruits, mineral, slightly more greasy as well

Well made ... still its missing some depth and complexity to match the big Pessac boys.
But then again, at its current price range, you get a lot of white Pessac for your buck !

Drink or hold

I agree with majority of the tasting notes below ... still it lacks a bit excitement, a bit too one dimensional.
Lovely hints of citrus, waxy, zest of lime, pineapple, some waxy apple peel as well. Very mineral as well and bone dry in finish !
Took some time in glass ( needed to serve slightly chilled ) to give me a bit more acidic notes ( drank at 8-10°C ).

A crowd pleaser for sure - apparently from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, its quite dense and creamy to me - could have sworn some Semilion in there.

I purchased a full case (6) at Château back in 2017, and I will surely enjoy the remaining five bottles over the coming years.

Having tasted the 07 and 08, time to pop my one and only bottle of 2010 ... hell yeah !

- Preparation : none, this was pop and pour ( as should be for this wine )
- Colour : very sexy crimson red, quite teary in the glass, even my empty glass stained red !
- Nose : huge amount of red fruit, vanilla, fine & classy wood, leather, some black fruit as well, wonderful perfume
- Taste : very soft, silky, slides around your teeth, almost chewy, juicy, intense, tannins perfectly integrated
- Finish : quite long, lingers for quite some time, more black fruit, very pleasant and enjoyable

Agreed, a 3rd label, but from a fantastic vintage and renowned Château, this Pauillac hits my spot at least !

Drink or hold ... 93/100 ( easily ). Shame about current price tag.

Yet another one from my wine bucket list ...

+ Colour : clearly the age is visible, slight brownish at the rim
+ Nose : believe heavenly is the best word to describe it. Abundance of red fruits, spicy herbs, some leather, tobacco leaves.
It does already show some tertiary notes, fine woody flavour, crushed mint leaves, grain mustard, and a pinch of course sea salt.
+ Taste : nicely rounded, balanced, lots of flint and minerals, very juice, more dried fruits here. Nicely acidity, very fine tannins still there.
+ Finish : actually it bit of both worlds ( nose and taste ), it does linger in your mouth for quite some time.

All in all, it did live very much up to my expectation and it reputation, probably once in a life time taste of this bottle.
Seeing the tertiary in my notes, would say to rather drink this vintage quickly if you still have it laying around.

Purchased simply out of curiosity, just to try some wines from Morgon region.
Came from a local wine shop in Brugge, Belgium - I paid 11,48 € including VAT.

- Nose : very faint and timid at first, however nice red fruits, some herbs / spices
- Taste : quite light, very nice red fruits, again the herbs / spices in the background
- Finish : somewhat hard, a bit tight, red fruits but more concentrated here

Very well made wine, but would buy it again specifically. Drink now or hold 1-2 years.

My TN are in the line of all TN's below ...

Started tasting at 12°C, but it needed some more chilling to fully enjoy.
Quite fatty wine, strangely I get more Semilion than Sauvignon Blanc.
Bit faint on the nose, especially more chilled.
In mouth, I got some wax, caramel, salt toffee, lots of lime zeste, high on minerals.
But overall, I certainly get the oxidation ... one would think the wine if off, however it opens up with time.

Not sure if I could buy again or order in restaurant ... at these prices, I prefer Les Hauts de Smith Blanc.

My last but one bottle of this particular vintage ... a wine whom always hits the spot.

I can only repeat my previous TN's ... the wine has mellowed down even more, becoming more flawless.
Rarely have I tasted other bottles that bring a smile to my face from the first till the final drop out of my glass.
Would assume the high level should be able to hold for a few more years, but for me this wine is at its absolute peak.

It can now easily complete with the Pavie Macquin, Tertre Roteboeuf and Pavie, all from 2007 - some of my all time high ratings.

Crazy wine ... is it a light red wine or a rosé wine ... its the latter.

Quite a complex wine, I needed to some time to place it properly.
Good acidity, smelled and tasted a bit burnt. Heaps of red fruits.
On second day, some minor hints of oxidation, but nothing bad.
Very interesting, not quite sure if I now like it or not ... hmmm.

Many thanks to Gregory for bringing this bottle back for me !

To keep in line with the 2009 Herencia, finished with this 2008 vintage.

+ Nose : dried, but ripe fruits, very herbal, very spicy, some heat, pepper, paprika, some mint as well
+ Taste : follow the nose, very juicy, less harder then before, raisins
+ Finish : very intense, black fruits, still quite hard at this stage

Nice to try the odd bottle now and then, clearly it mellows down over the years, but also keeps the crunchy black fruit !

Had to serve this blind to a fellow Chilean wine enthusiast ... guess about 2 Hrs in the decanter prior tasting.
At this stage, much better than my previous bottle ... more mellow and less hard than two years ago.

- Colour : deep dark red, sexually flawless kinda red
- Nose : an abundance of red fruits, some black fruits as well, very herbal, sawed cedar wood, crushed lady bugs
- Taste : smooth and soft as silk, very ripe, buttery, juicy fruity, like chewing and melts away in your mouth
- Finish : very herbal, again the crushed lady bugs spring to mind, juicy, but a very long and delightful finish indeed

I now rate this 95/100 for my Chilean bottles, believe Almaviva is a closed second now.
If you can find this ( I paid 65 Euro discounted price ), do buy a couple of bottles.
This wine is extremely well made, and as it looks now, this has a good ageing potential.

Curious to try this Burgundy white ... so I popped the cork and had a taste.

- Nose : very neutral, timid, anonymous, with some air a bit grassy, canned fruit syrup
- Taste : quite greasy, juicy, mineral, full, a bit of petrol
- Finish : its best feature, nicely balanced acidity, pear, salty, quite long finish as well

Very nice, but this white wine requires a meal ... some baked white fish with a butter sauce !

Quite disappointing at this stage ... was expecting more of this second label.
Honestly, I prefer the 2012 Angelus N°3 from the above this bottle.

It showed potential upon uncorking, but once in the decanter it completely shut down.
It became very basic and generic, not what I have grown to expect from Angelus.
Could it the be vintage or is this 2012 simply too young at this stage - who knows.

Last bottle of six ...

A bit less expressive and powerful than previous bottles.
Still it remains interesting, very herbal, soft and sweet.
Some tertiary tendencies at this stage, so better drink up.

Drinkable, but at this stage completely dead and buried.

My first bottle ( 1/3 ) from this vintage ... oh boy, this is lovely.
Decanted for a couple of hours and enjoyed over two days.

+ Colour - swirling it against the light, a lovely deep, sexy, inviting red colour
+ Nose - intense, chocolate, slightly burnt coffee, but a heap of juicy fruits
+ Taste - young, juicy, inviting, smooth, tender, sexy, chocolate, truffle, playful
+ Finish - again very juicy, but a bit hard and short, but it comes back with a punch of truffle and chocolate

I like this very much - unsure how this will evolve, but at this stage very much enjoyable !
Right now a solid 90+ in my spectrum of Pomerol wines I have tasted so far.
Excellent P/Q - buy this vintage if you can still find it !!!

Consistent with previous notes .... quite a sleeper, this vintage.
Straight out of the bottle, so very young and deep with dark fruits.
Needs time to open at this stage, suggest several hours decanter.
When it opens up, it lingers very long in mouth and finish. Great.

Does look like a wine built for the ages ... drink now or keep cellared.
Here, two bottles left ... not nearly enough, but hey ... other vintages waiting.
2009 Frank Phélan St. Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Purchased two bottles as a "box-filler" to get free shipping on other BDX wines.
We get pushed this wine in almost every single restaurant in the close area.
Paired this 2009 vintage with a simple Christmas gourmet meal. Have to say not bad.
I didn't expect much, but it delivered more than what I was expecting.
Not great, won't remember it for very long, but still a well made wine !
For me - strangely enough - already on the decline, so drink up.

2006 Château Pontet-Canet Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Difficult to rate this one ... heaps of potential, but much too young at this stage.
She struts her stuff around well, but its not interesting enough to stay focused.
Needs more bottle time ( or decant for long time ), revisiting in next couple of years.

N.V. Château d'Yquem Declassified Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend (view label images)
Have yet to find out what type of Yquem related Sauternes this was.
Still very nicely made, missing a bit of acidity. Honey, candied apricot.
Quite a lot op depth, not too heavy. Almond, fine botrytis. Nice.

Hedonistic wine ... Bordeaux left bank at its finest ... should have bought more.
Perhaps I was expecting too much of a 2nd label in a less successful vintage.
Still a great Château should produce quality, and I was underwhelmed here.

Very atypical for Pomerol, a huge quantity of Merlot, which didn't really live up.
Not a buttery, rich, creamy like Pomerol, but more "engineered" it seemed at times.

- Nose : young, youthful, very fruity, herbal
- Taste : nice herbs, spicy, a bit too hard and pointy
- Finish : nicely made, but unnatural, vanilla, atypical Pomerol

Strange ... not sure if I like my Pomerol this way .... seeing price tag, believe better out there.
However, still five bottles to go, next one will decide if a keeper or sell-on ....

Edit - day two ... finally, there it is ... that lovely rich creamy flavour of the finer Merlot.
What a difference O2 has given this wine. Day and night against the tightness it was yesterday.

Tasted at the domain September 2018, immediately blew me away.
First of six bottles, brought over to blind tasting with friends.

- Nose : buttery, baked cookies, slightly animal like, cherry, paprika
- Taste : medium, very nice fruit, vegetal, peppers, herbs
- Finish : punchy, peppery, black fruits, slightly sweet

A winner overall .... drink now or keep cellared for quite some time !

Part of lot CH9 which I acquired out of curiosity and .. CH9 never fails me !

Drank over period of two days. Day one = 2/3 in decanter. Day two = 1/3 pop and pour.
First day, an absolute abundance of crunchy black fruits. Slightly more timid on day two.
Colour - nice vibrant red, somewhat sexy and very inviting ...
Taste - very juicy, bit harsh now and then, but intriguing, crispy, black forest fruit, crunchy
Finish - surprisingly light, though 14.5% alcohol, it doesn't feel like it, slightly dry.

Very well made ... paid 28 Euro for this bottle, would happily buy again.
Drink now ( but decant ) or keep cellared for at least a couple of more years.

Pop and pour, this wine did need some time in to open up.

+ Nose - dried herbs, dried leather, forest floor, earthy
+ Taste - dried red fruits, laurel, coffee, earth
+ Finish - spicy, a bit too short, dry

Again, this is what old BDX should taste like ... not much left in this 1996, so drink up !

2015 Château Beaumont les Pierrières Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend (view label images)
Last of six bottles, time to drink up ( believe it's reaching the end of its life ).

Nicely and honestly made, lovely acidity, citrus, mineral, salty. Went great with a tuna salad !

What is not to like here ...

Paired against the 2004 vintage, this 2010 overpowered it easily.
Nice dark, sexy, crimson color that stains your entire glass deep red.
An absolute abundance of red & black fruits rise from the glass.
Quite voluptuous in mouth, juicy fruits, sexy, solid woody hints.
And a finish which goes on for ever and ever .... solid 95+ right now.

Yes, this is a wine for the long run ... but oh so enjoyable right now !

A wonderful surprise when tasting this for the first time.
Bought myself a few bottles and it didn't disappoint again.

A very interesting mix of smells and flavors, nicely balanced.
Some grassy touches, slightly greasy and white fruits.
This is a steal at only 13,02 Euro. If you can find it, buy it !

One of the bottles I was very curious about tasting .... my initial acquaintance with Canon.

+ Preparation - decanted & consumed 3/4 bottle over several hours
+ Colour - this is still quite young, so still vibrant red
+ Nose - very closed, even swirling the wine around the glass didn't open it much, shame
+ Taste - slightly watery, but supple, scarce on the red fruits, juicy but not jammy, woody
+ Finish - its best feature, it finishing quite good, but not amazing.

Must agree with most, this is not an excellent vintage, however a vintage to enjoy in its youth !

Purchased couple of bottles at the estate after an extensive tasting on site ( September 2018 ).
Got my attention then and it did again over the past two days of consuming my first bottle.

+ Colour - seeing the age, there is little to no decay in its deep red colour
+ Nose - very herbal, laurel, dried forest leaves, dried red fruits, tobacco, soil
+ Taste - less dry as I anticipated, quite juicy and supple, red forest fruit, quite stingy around the edges
+ Finish - great medium finish, again quite herbal, quite strong and intense, again forest floor soil and leaves

Have very to no experience with red Loire wines, but damn ... this was very very nice !

Very jammy, blackberry, some marmalade, laurel, dried fruits, some burnt notes, quite long finish.

Part of a recent impulse buy ( I often buy wines unknown to me, just to discover new wines / regions ).

A Vin de France, made by 100% Ugni Blanc, so curious to taste this ( for me ) new grape variety.

+ Nose - grassy, vegetal, slightly animal, hayloft
+ Taste - slightly greasy, salty, grassy, nicely fresh & acidic
+ Finish - spicy down your throat, thick, dry, short, a hint of alcohol (13%)

Very nice wine - something not too complex, but simply to enjoy as aperitif or with a meal.

Found this bottle / vintage by accident whilst shopping in a French Supermarket, back in 2016.
This evening, paired with slowly cooked duck breast, potatoes and selection of warm vegetables.

+ Preparation - decanting ( slow O2 ) for a few hours and consuming throughout the evening
+ Colour - quite transparent (dark) red, at the rim only a brief hint of evolution
+ Nose - most of all cherry, red fruits, vanilla, hint of oak, smudge of laurel and mint (?)
+ Taste - light, well balanced acidity / tannins, again red fruits and cherries
+ Finish - sweet cherries, cuberdon, juicy, some dried red fruits, a bit short

All in all, not bad for a 2nd label in a poor vintage ... As it stands now, I'm rating this at 89/100.
If the finish was a bit more, would have scored it a solid 90. Still, quite happy with P/Q here.

Edit on above - 2nd day, the wine improved so much, an abundance of chocolate and more intense.
Hence, I've decided to rate this the 90/100 I initially intended during the tasting on 1st day.

Very eager to taste what seems to be a two-face wine here on CT.
Previous bottle was tasted at the Château in September 2017, no formal notes taken.
This bottle was purchased from a fellow collector, he let me have it at only 75 Euro !

No decant, just pop and pour and just give it some time in the glass to open up.
About 3/4 bottle was flanked by meat of lamb, mashed potatoes and buttery chicory.

+ Nose - sensual, refined, freshly sawed fine wood, smoky, cherries, blackberry, bit of graphite, some licorice and strawberry (?)
+ Taste - light, well balanced, lovely balanced acidity, good spicy hint on the tongue
+ Finish - plums, some tobacco, dark fruits, refined, dark cherry, very long, a slight push of alcohol

Furthermore found these notes at the end of my TN ... If tasted blind, wouldn't put this in Pauillac.
Also when rolling the wine in your glass, it makes a sexy dance all around your glass .... nice ;-)

Clearly, I'm in the YES camp for this wine ... I will struggle to go up to 94/95, so rating at 93/100.

Its difficult to rate something of which you have little or no knowledge.

I was told this should be THE best rosé wine in all of France, so hopes were high.
I was told this 2016 vintage is very fine and perhaps its too early to uncork.
I was told to decant the bottle for a couple of hours prior consumption.

You see, I was told many things and I have taken all of them in account.
But all that aside, I did very much enjoy this particular bottle of wine.
I enjoyed it over the course of two days, the 2nd day it showed its best.

Its certainly not your typical easy drinking rosé ... no, this has more layers and more depth.
Thus, one has to work slightly harder to fully enjoy its absolute potential ... which is nice.
However, that's not really what I'm looking for in a rosé wine .... ( or maybe its just me ).

Has to be one of the finest white wines I have ever tasted. Only surpassed by a few bottles.
Ranks with the Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 2010, and Domaine de Chevalier Blanc 2009.
Still goes to show, that Pessac makes the best whites in Bordeaux ...

Started out very shy ( could use some time in decanter ), but opened up during the evening.
So glad I purchased a few of these, good to know they can be enjoyed now or keep cellared.

Just as I remembered .... great nose, taste and very long finish.
Abundance of summery white stone fruits, marzipan, zesty, smoky.

Had read here before, temperature here is important - I preferred slightly warmer when tasting.
We drank this as "aperitif", but this is such a rich wine better to be accompanied by a good meal.

I often buy this wine, just to have some "simple" wines in the cellar as well.
