From a magnum - last tasted from magnum 5 years ago when it was fairly closed, it has now opened up nicely, v. good but not exceptional.

Fine if you like brett...to avoid if you don't. I quite like this style from time to time though the brett makes this a fairly one-dimensional drink IMO...2016 and 2015 were similar but less pronounced.

A little bit tired (provenance?) but enjoyable none the less. Still quite powerful, but best with something bland, maybe roast beef or lamb. Drink up!

Ready now, smokey garriguey fruity chateauneuf stuff going on, good for a few more years at least but I'm not sure it will improve. This one had none of the usual '07 jammyness, very nice..

I was pleasantly surprised by this bottle, given recent reviews I was expecting it to be on the way downhill but there was still a fair amount of fruit left and nothing very tertiary about it. I would think more than a few years life left in this. Very good now though..

3-hour decant followed by double decant...fairly closed initially, the last third of the bottle finally opened out to what I hope will happen naturally in another five years or so. Oak is there but unobtrusive, everything perfectly in balance, puts most other Reservas to shame!

I expected this to be slightly more evolved, but, from my cellar at least, still plenty of unresolved tannins, I think it's a 20 year claret not 15. I'll leave my remaining bottles another five years at least..

Only recently bottled, fruit and acidity nicely balanced with a hint of lees. Very clean and fresh, textbook muscadet sur lie..difficult to find a better example than this.

My first taste of this since a family wedding 8 years ago, but instantly recognisable as Drappier. Pleasant, fairly light and approachable with no need for further cellaring (dosage?) good value aperitif champagne, but lacks complexity IMO

Simple, uncomplicated village cru Beaujolais. Served cellar-cool, uncomplicated, floral, typical Fleurie, nice with summer food..exactly what you'd expect..

Bottled just a few weeks ago, a perfect example of young Muscadet sur lie. Fruit and acidity well in balance, very well made, which is why I give it a 90. About 9 bucks at the cellar door, bargain-ous or what? [great with scallops]

1st of a 6-pack. I can't improve on d'Artagnan's note so here's my rough and ready attempt at a translation (with apologies!):
"Full, fresh, some fruit. Well balanced, the alcohol is not intrusive and the fruit is still showing. 2010 is a superb Southern Rhone vintage and this shows why. Still young, to drink now and over the next 10 years at least."

My kind of old school Gigondas, a huge difference to the hot, flabby 2007's I had the misfortune to purchase a few years back..

91 pts Unquote

I've had a lot of bottle variation with these...stood this one up for a few days and decanted just 20 minutes before serving to avoid any sediment..perfect with guinea-fowl. "A point" now, good for a few more years if you're lucky enough to get a bottle like this but why wait?

Fabulous, ready now but will keep - the cork was very fragile on this one, almost soaked to the top, be careful when opening...opened up nicely in the glass but I did not decant and don't think it needs it unless you break the cork.

Well-integrated, drinking perfectly now, showed better than the '99 Winston we opened the same evening (possibly just because of the difference in drinking windows though).

Usual Pol house style of fresh elegance overlaid with biscuity deliciousness..

A great wine, full bodied, entering maturity but no hurry to drink. Cries out for some posh food to go with it.

Tasted alongside a 2002 vintage Pol (not Winston) which I have to say I preferred, stylistically. That's just me though...

Decanted 2 hours - everything is nicely there but this is a blockbuster at present, like so many 2005s...maybe it will soften up in a few years? Important to get the correct food choice, I think..

Good fill, cork in good shape, had all the right Pauillac stuff but just a little bit tired, unfortunately. A perfect wine to fill the occasion, and complimented the food nicely, but maybe the cellaring let it down...

Peppery; very clean (no brett); some fruit still; uncomplicated Syrah; OK to drink now but will last for years. I liked it, may buy again. Quite good value in that anything more interesting in Cornas will usually cost an awful lot more money...

Last tried this three years ago while still tight. Now mature (cork was straight), this has evolved into something beautiful and distinctive. Perfect to drink right now IMO..but although in my (poor) cellar I wouldn't risk keeping it longer, with perfect cellaring this could be at the beginning of a long plateau.
