3/29/24, 3:07 AM - To my taste, Larose Trintaudon is usually at its best between 8-12 years from vintage.
2/11/24, 9:40 AM - Thanks for the positive note Tim!I just bought a couple so far but plan on accumulating a full case eventually.
1/28/24, 4:42 AM - Its a good time to open one if you have three. With just one left, I'll wait a few years to open it.
1/4/24, 3:15 AM - no decant.
1/5/24, 3:46 AM - If serving to friends I would have double decanted. It may have opened more quickly after a decant.
12/31/23, 4:55 PM - Actually not. I had two regular bottles left. The mags are resting quietly. Happy New Year!
12/5/23, 4:38 PM - Please adjust your score to reflect your praise.
11/14/23, 2:10 AM - I double decanted a couple hours before, and took a small taste. Then I waited a couple hours before pouring glasses.
10/21/23, 4:18 AM - This is a stark contrast to your note from February 2022.69 points is rather extreme, and would seem to indicate a flawed bottle rather than a poor quality wine.
7/20/23, 5:01 PM - Sounds like a flawed bottle.
7/16/23, 10:07 AM - I'm kicking myself for not buying a 6 pack at $60 when they were first available. I only bought one at the time. Now I'm prepared to buy a few more bottles at $90.
7/5/23, 9:04 AM - I only have two so I'll have to live with vicarious enjoyment for the time being. Thanks for the comprehensive note!
5/21/23, 12:27 PM - I agree. I just finished the last sip of a bottle opened yesterday and opened CT, only to see your great tasting note in my sidebar.
5/8/23, 6:52 AM - It's almost like we were drinking two different wines. But I did have an extra day with it. :)I have to get some '19 d'Issan
5/6/23, 7:57 AM - Me too, but I have three so I might try one a few years sooner, when I'm only 75. :D
5/6/23, 9:23 AM - I'll be able to contribute to a Talbot vertical when we get there.
3/20/23, 5:11 PM - I totally agree!
2/17/23, 7:25 PM - Obviously, I didn't buy enough of this.
2/6/23, 7:32 AM - Glad you had a good one. I have just one left but I know where to get more. A bit shy though because the corked one I opened recently was supposed to convince me if it's worth the increased price.
2/6/23, 7:13 AM - I was tempted to open one of these recently. Now I can wait a while longer. :)
2/6/23, 3:25 AM - Just a week later I opened a corked bottle from a different producer (Haut Medoc, 2015 vintage). Fortunately they've been few and far between, only around 1 percent of bottles I open are flawed.
1/3/23, 2:30 AM - That's just wrong, to increase your score because the bottles were cheap. I say this having opened a bottle of it last night.
12/29/22, 7:21 AM - I just bought a couple more bottles this morning. :)
12/23/22, 9:52 AM - That seems like a good plan.I'll have gone thru a few more of my 750s by then so you'll have some new data to work with. :)
12/17/22, 9:10 AM - Hear hear!
8/22/22, 3:19 AM - It seems as though you had a flawed bottle. The two I've had this year were superb.
8/3/22, 2:57 AM - Seems like a bottle that should be marked flawed instead of receiving a score.
8/4/22, 3:08 AM - Your first two bottles of '83 Comtesse were 87 and 69 points?I've never had this wine but I have a Magnum purchased a few years ago in my cellar.So... I get worried when I read notes like these. ;)
8/4/22, 12:43 PM - Oh, I understand. My current experience isn't a lot more than what yours was then. Cellartracker is certainly a big help.I didn't begin building up a cellar until less than 10 years ago, with a few '09s and '10s, but mostly '14, '15 and '16s - and I've already opened a few bottles too soon.
8/1/22, 4:33 AM - Great note, and fits my impression of the wine perfectly. Goes down so easy on a warm summer evening while enjoying lawn games.
6/10/22, 9:51 AM - After the first one I couldn't keep my hands off. I've gone thru 6 of 13 already.
5/23/22, 4:05 AM - Good note. I've enjoyed a few bottles of the 2015 recently. Will have to buy some 2016 now.
3/25/22, 9:24 AM - sounds more like a flawed bottle to me.
3/25/22, 6:22 PM - I've already consumed 9 of these and not one was as you describe.OTOH, I have had mildly corked bottles of other wines that fit your description of flat, unexpressive and muted.
1/10/22, 10:32 AM - I have 6 of these and won't open one for a couple more years anyway.A tasting note from Motz last year suggested an 8 hour decant is needed right now to wake it up.2 years ago I opened a great bottle of 1975 Ch. Giscours, so there's no hurry with this wine.
12/18/21, 2:48 PM - Yeah, man! After my first bottle I bought all I could get my hands on. So happy to have 8 more tucked away.
12/18/21, 3:48 PM - I can't argue on the 2010. The one I splurged on 4 years ago was outstanding.
9/27/21, 4:57 PM - You couldn't at least give it an 89? If you had given it an 89 I would have a straight in Cellartracker Community Notes Poker today. ;)But seriously, I assumed that as good as it was on release, it would need years of sleep to reach maturity. I'll just assume your reaction is a result of it being in a dumb phase.
9/8/21, 2:57 AM - I only had the one bottle of 2011, more than 2 years ago. If I recall correctly, it was typical of the vintage - a bit lighter in weight, and easy drinking at a fairly young age.I've been drinking a variety of 2012s which have more substance than 2011 but seem to be opening up now, into a relatively early drinking window.
8/10/21, 3:04 AM - For starters, I didn't find the aroma appealing.
7/23/21, 7:05 AM - I've only had this and a bottle of Ch. Capbern so far. Both have been less concentrated versions of what I've been experiencing from these chateaux in the past decade.
7/20/21, 8:37 AM - I think I would decant for 60-90 minutes before drinking.
7/18/21, 6:21 AM - I have just one of these, already tempted to put it on the drink soon list.
7/17/21, 4:44 PM - In the shadow of 2010, but not a weak vintage at all.At under $60 per that I paid, these are a great value.
7/17/21, 4:34 PM - Yeah man!Siran is on a roll.
6/2/21, 4:06 AM - There's a few bottles of the 2015 at the store a mile from my house. Not that I need more, with 2 1/2 cases already in my cellar. :)
5/7/21, 4:38 AM - I've gotten a similar impression from a few 2015s opened in the last 6 months.
4/22/21, 5:18 PM - You did what? :DGreat setting at least. :)
4/19/21, 1:29 PM - I like your stories. :)
4/19/21, 1:53 PM - I bought 4 of these at $45 ea, and being a bit impatient, already drank 3 of them. But I'm not touching my '15 Giscours. The '12 C-B still available but at a $20 premium now. Although compared to current price of other choices that still isn't too bad I suppose.
12/20/20, 9:37 AM - Mildly corked?
5/30/20, 10:11 AM - I have to guess that the cream element is a result of the oak treatment. If so, it should subside a bit, over time. I used the term candied apple in my note a year ago. They are probably related.
5/24/20, 3:36 PM - Hi Adam,I checked Google maps and I see that you live a bit north of Manchester, England. I live 5 miles east of Manchester, CT, New England. :)I also took a quick look at your tasting notes. Apparently you enjoy the NV Lanson Extra on a regular basis. I had just the one bottle. At $100 its rather pricey here so not something I'll make a habit of drinking. $40-50 champagne is more within my budget.I like drinking claret a lot though, and Ch. Talbot is one of my favorites, although Cru Bourgeois is what I buy lots of for regular consumption. Cheers!
5/25/20, 2:58 AM - Adam, where I live is rural also. Manchester CT, where I operate a one-man manufacturing business, is much smaller than Manchester UK though. Very little industry. I use racerchris for my online "handle" because, prior to wine, my passion was to compete with my small sports car at road racing circuits in the northeast USA.
5/25/20, 2:52 AM - 375ml. Half bottle. When I plan on only drinking half of a regular bottle and I want to keep the rest as fresh as possible I pour it into a half bottle right away and cork it, then store it in my small wine fridge. The second half of a bottle keeps safely for a few days that way.
5/13/20, 3:42 PM - Yeah, baby!I have 6 more of these, and I have to agree that it's one of the best QPRs of the vintage.I also have 2 Branaire-Ducru but they were $25 higher price. Based on your note I'm not gonna open one for a while yet.Another 2010 which I bought in the same price range as the La Dame is d'Armailhac. It too is a better QPR than the Branaire imo.
5/11/20, 7:17 AM - That's a shame. I enjoyed 5 bottles of Les Pagodes, all through last year. But I've had more than a few corked bottles from other chateaux (not necessarily 2014) where the wine still tasted good but a wet newspaper odor was noticed enough to substantially diminish drinking enjoyment. At least the frequency of TCA contamination seems lower in recent vintages than historical data suggests was the norm at one time.
3/24/20, 4:50 PM - Sounds great! I have two, not sure if I'll have the discipline to keep them both for another 5 years.I used 2020 as the starting point for my drinking windows of '09,'10, and '14 Branaire so I can take my pick from 3 vintages if I feel the need right now.
