I didn’t like this as much as the 2021 which I very much enjoyed. Not as fruit driven and is a bit austere and tannic. However I have a few more so will try again. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood.

Had at Wine Club. Has come together more than last time. Amber colour. Apricots, honey, orange marmalade and botrytis. Good acidity. All enjoyed it. Still has plenty of life.

Had at Wine club. Interestingly some really liked it. I found it austere with not a lot of fruit and thin. Must be the style that I don’t like.

Bit of a novelty. Basically a chocolate infused Tempranillo. It’s like a chocolate with liqueur inside. Couldn’t drink much of it but very enjoyable.

Paired with lamb shank. I’m not sure about this wine. It has a lovely nose of black fruits and plums. On the palate the fruit is there and the tannins reasonably integrated. However the alcohol is very obtrusive and difficult to get beyond which I think spoils the wine. I wonder whether a few years the cellar may help. I like aging Ozzy wines and may buy a few and be patient.

Opened with slight trepidation after reading other reviews. However, 4 of us liked it. Notes of black cherries, plums and black forrest gateau. Integrated softening tannins. In it’s drinking window but I doubt there is any upside.

Had at Wine Club. Sweet wine of the night. Beautifully in balance, rich and unctuous with citrus and tropical notes. Went well with chocolate tart. Delicious. Plenty of time.

Found this bottle to drink with roast chicken. A graceful wine all in balance. Lovely berry fruit and soft integrated tannins, so smooth. A pleasure to drink at 30 years. Could go longer but can’t think why.

Interesting nose of cherry and mocha. Spice and pepper on the palate. Quite prominent tannins and short length. Bit disappointing

Pale yellow. Floral and citrus characteristics with plenty of balancing acidity. Excellent value particularly when buying with 25% off on 6. Very enjoyable.

Incredible pale yellow colour for 23 year old wine. Obvious kerosene on the nose. Plenty of citrus fruit and acidity still in balance. A joy for such a graceful aged wine. I think there’s time left too.

Paired with roast beef lots of veg and roast potatoes for lunch. Cork came out intact. Notes of black fruit, pencil and earthy forest floor integrated tannins in the background. It was in beautiful balance and a lovely enjoyable wine. My last bottle, but as when I tried the remains later in the evening, it was fading and not so enjoyable, I wonder how much longer it’s drinking window is.

Loads of berries on the nose. Similar on the palate. Not a great deal else yet. Acidity and tannins also quite prominent. Very young still. I’m hopeful there will be good aging potential.

Perfect cork. I’m afraid didn’t do it for me. Mostly stewed fruit, raisins and porty. Short on length. To me, it is declining.

My last bottle sadly. Very enjoyable. Strawberry herbs and spices with nicely balanced tannins and acidity. Such a lovely wine. However I don’t think it justifies the rediculous price you need to pay for the experience now.
Can’t see it lasting much longer before declining.

Completely different experience to last year. Colour the same but intense violets blackberry and cherry. The palate went on and on. So, the same flavours but just loads more of it. This bottle was a great wine. So what’s the difference? Bottle variation and or mood, company, food etc? I don’t know. Anyway, I’m glad I have a few left.

Cork perfect. Deep red with a purple rim. Still has plenty of berry fruit, perhaps drying a little. Faint prunes. To be fair I didn’t get much else. However, it is still very enjoyable at 29 years and probably better than when first released. No idea when it will be past it’s best, but I don’t have any left. A pleasant surprise for sure.

Wine Club paired with lemon sole beurre blanc. Some minerality and crispness. I didn’t get any of the freshness or fruit that you’d expect from a Menetou. Disappointing.

I found difficult to assess. A very big wine with plenty of black fruit but the tannins were way too prominent and overpowering. Seems over extracted. For me, hopefully too young and will come together over time.

Last had 5 years ago. Deep amber. Notes of orange peel, apricot and botrytis. Viscous and medium sweet. I was a little disappointed, missing the wow factor and expected more from numerous positive reviews. I hope I’m right waiting another 5 years.

Paired with ribeye. Deep red in colour. Nose of red and black fruits, spicy and vanilla. Beautifully integrated on the palate with a long finish. It is in a wonderful place at 29 years, but I’m sure it will go on for many more years. Too expensive to buy more unfortunately.

Drank at Wine Club and paired with lamb kleftiko. All enjoyed it. 4 hour breathe, which helped to open it up. Deep red colour. Cherry, black fruits and savoury notes. However, has quite prominent tannins at 8 years. I think that this is a great wine which can only improve. Perhaps should wait 5 years before trying another bottle. May be difficult though.

Deep red in colour. Great harmonious nose of sweet blackberries and cigar box. Medium length and sof tannins. Compared to 18 months ago, a much more enjoyable wine and may improve further. Think I got it wrong. Went well with barbecued meat. Glad I’ve got a few bottles left.

Revisited after 18 months. Opened 3 hours prior. Still brick red rim. At first nose a bit closed but then opened up. This is a wonderful Pauillac. Dominant blackberry fruit but so sweet. Everything in balance. Absolutely delicious and wonderful wine. Can’t wait to drink again.

Drank at Wine Club with lamb ragu, a good match. Double decanted 3 hours before. Deep red colour. Nose of cherry and red fruit. Palate quite long. The tannins are a little prominent, but it’s a silky smooth wine. All enjoyed it. I have a little left to try today, may be even better. I think should definitely develop over next 5-10 years and look forward to trying again.

Again, still drinking well and very enjoyable. Left a little for following day. The fruut was fading.

Drank with watercress soup. I have never had a SA Albariño before. Seemed different to the many Spanish ones I’ve had before. Richer and has citrus, honeysuckle and beeswax on the nose. Good length fruit, minerality and acid. A very enjoyable wine.

Drank with friends. Cork in perfect condition. Still purple in colour. Amazing nose of black fruits, jasmin, violets and a little earthiness. The palate was wonderful with integrated tannins and very long length. Softened a little as we drank over an hour or so. A beautiful wine and much enjoyed by all. Definitely in it’s drinking window. Very sad to see the end of the bottle.

Drank with cheese. A juvenile wine which is way too young at moment. It has great structure with plenty of red and black fruit. However the tannins are overpowering and need integration and softening. I think it has a great future but wouldn’t touch for at least 5 years.
