PnP. Red apple aroma stepping to the fore now with distinct dairy, warm brioche & roasted nut profile. Remains structurally intact with lively acidity providing necessary lift to carry voluptuous fruit to long evenly distributed finish. Drinking beautifully now and appears to have the required energy to do so for the foreseeable future.

A goodbye toast to my mother in law and this champagne was worthy of her spirit. Full of life beyond its years, fresh and vibrant, compexity of flavor, interesting, smooth and long finish.

Gyllengul i färgen. Magnifikt vin. Sorry, but not sorry (ok, möjligtvis för att det var sista flarran i lådan då).
God Jul, hörrni!

Quite advanced after opening with lots of tertiary notes, some cooked butter elements. It blew off more and more but my last bottles were much better and fresher. The palate was crisp and fresh still. May be not the best bottle.

Rather high expectations for this birthday bottle and considering some other older Gossets.
Starts with ripe sweet apple, a bit muted a first. Hints of sweetness followed by intense acidic bubbles.
Nice smooth and acidic profile but somehow not very remarkable. Notes of lime and citrus, later followed by hints of vanilla and mandarine as well as blackberry.
I have to say the longer you let it breathe, the more smooth it becomes. It also delivers some kind of pleasant understated elegance but still for me personally questionable price performance.
The Celebris Bdb was way more unique and impressive.

Patio Time at Martina: Light gold color. Drank a glass over 60 minutes. This has that really swampy, ocean'like earthiness and minerality on the nose, with mushroom and truffles, lemon, dulce de leche, toast, and brioche. The palate is medium plus weight, tart emon, citrus peel, ocean and brine, toast, caramel, mushroom, brisk minerality and touches of lime. Very similar to a bottle from 6 years ago. Still solid, drink over the next couple years. 93+ to 94pts.

This bottle was much more mature than the last one I had (which was recently). Not oxidised but clearly will not get better. Last one was more crisp with notes of apple etc fruit was lacking here

Medium gold. Floral notes, yellow apple, honey, marzipan, brioche, and light smoke. Good balance, and great persistence. Benefited from aeration and became smoothly textured after about half an hour. Very good, but not as striking as I had hoped for.

Light to medium gold in color and still very youthful although there’s a bit of oxidative nuttiness on the nose. I see from the notes here that this didn’t undergo malolactic fermentation and it shows as this is racy, edgy, and highly acidic with very little richness or roundness. It’s probably a good idea to give this a little more time in the cellar to see if age gives it more complexity and depth, but it is an excellent wine at the moment.

From MAG at a large dinner table. This Cuvée stunned a lot of people who usually drink cheap Champagne only. Nose of bakery, yeast , quite floral but restraint and not too sweet. Very nice complexity, good tertiary aromas also emerge on the finish. Fine perlage and mouth feel. In great form, ready now.

Old Rioja tasting: Old Rioja tasting, privately organized. Even though 3 out of 11 bottles were flawed, the tasting was once more testament to the outstanding ageability of Rioja. While clearly not a representative sample, the Tondonias were all intact while 2 out of 3 CVNEs were flawed. That said, where the one that was still intact (1964) easily beat the Tondonia. The WOTN was neither, however, but a Paternina from 1928 (95).
Tasting note: Fine layer of oxidative notes providing for a layer of almonds and hazel nuts, fine fruit notes of citrus, pear and hints of raspberry, steely minerality and a spicy, herbal complexity. Also an idea of caramel. Round and perfectly fresh with a medium length finish. This was definitely up there with the likes of Krug (vintage 2002), but couldn’t quite match the stellar Piper-Heidsieck Rare of the same vintage.

Double blind. I liked this a bit better than my own recent bottle of this Champagne. Very clean and clear, nice balance of everything here. Not a wow Champagne but very nice really. Was thinking 06 or 08 DP before this was unveiled

Great Sushi, Great Wines (San Mateo, California): Yellow, moderate mousse. Big, dry, deep, and yeasty. Complex combination of grilled nuts and orchard fruit. Great acidity and length. It is at a lovely inflection point between youth and maturity where it has attractive features of both. Outstanding.

Brilliant nose of ripe apple, cultured butter, smoked salt. Palate slightly closed; not yet at peak. But pretty fabulous already. Hold another 2-3 years.

Let breathe about 15 min in open bottle. Still a fairly pale yellow in the glass. Very balanced and elegant but aromatically fairly muted. Very good but not the wow Champagne I hoped for given the vintage, and given where this sits in Gosset’s pecking order

A blend of 52% Chardonnay and 48% Pinot Noir, non-malo, dosage 5 gr/l. Beautifully layered and complex, autolytic nose, lemon and pear, brioche, white almonds, white nuts, very good depth; the richness on the palate is buffered by almost electric malic acidity, great energy and tension, silky mousse; the tight but long lemon and lime zest finish indicates that there is at least another 10 to 15 years of positive development ahead on a long plateau of maturity.

Wow, this is once again showing spectacular. Expressive, open and mature, with a touch of browning apples sneaking in compared to my last bottle showing jut a touch more maturity, but still at peak (and will be there for another few years). Notes of candied lemon, chalky minerality, honey, some brioche, white flowers, some lemon oil, also some darker fruit too. It‘s full-bodied, with an almost creamy mouthfeel, and high acidity cutting through everything. Very vinous in appearance and the mousse is beautifully integrated. Long finish with great complexity and freshness. Love it.

(Disgorged in fall of 2014, 48% Pinot Noir from Aÿ, Bouzy and Verzy and 52% Chardonnay from Chouilly and Cramant, dosage 5 gr/l) Starting to show a nice yellow colour, but still a youthfulness on the nose showing cream, crushed gravel and macadamia nuts and opens up with roasted coffee notes in a very pleasant way. Smoothing Granny Smith apples acidity on the palate also showing some sea buckthorn on the mid to late where a delicious lime zest bitterness showing on the lengthy finish. So vibrant and so intense, this 2002 is still very fresh and has long life ahead! (Best 2017-2037)

Just a hair below the 2002 Heidsieck Cuvee Rare tasted alongside. Some ripeness, perhaps more secondary elements arising. Some honey and candied citrus, and very refined essence for a 2002. Excellent. Not too early to break out the mags.

A champagne that is a persistent overperformer for me is the Gosset Celebris 2002. This was a third consistent showing of this great champagne over the last year. A wine of opulence, yet good acidity and no flabbiness means it is in fact in perfect balance. Surprising that this is extra brut as there is a lovely sweetness lingering behind the slightly toasted and salty nutty notes - which means they must have gotten perfect phenolic ripeness. Great on pnp, great with more air and also great on day 2. Great now and should be terrific over the next decade or two. 95+

Backward and reductive, this is like eating raw bread dough with rubber tyre mixed in. It seems to need 5-10 years for my taste. Leftovers slowly improved over 4 days, eventually convincing me it will arrive somewhere rather nice.

Gosset vintage Champagnes are leesy and textured, full bodied and generous without the finesse. Tasted blind – Lots of leesy texture and muscular fruits, good acidity and freshness like 2002 but with muscle like 2006. A good vintage with good ripeness and acidity, 2004? Grande Marque? 60% Chardonnay 40% Pinot Noir? (89/100)

This really is wonderful. It has a great balance between crispness and restraint, yet still with a leesy richness. A bit of almond, bread and depth, but very light handed. This still seems very young to me. Just entering a long drinking window and will get better and better. Drink it now or drink it later. Both are good choices.

Chassagne & Chambolle Blind evening (110 Taillevent London): Given that this bottle did extremely well for me and the group at our 2002 champagne blind tasting event a few weeks back I wanted to confirm this by opening another bottle. To me this is sublime champagne in its sweet spot now (but will hold and - not necessarily but possibly - get a TINY bit better). But it really is perfect today - nutty, deep, rich, the way I like my aged champagnes. It does not drink Extra Brut at all. Very vinous. A real winner and the only reason why I am not giving it 96 again is that I am evaluating it in the spectrum of the evening and I had slight preference for PYMC Batard 07 but do not want to score the PYMC 97, so that is the context of the slightly lower mark. It is a belter of a champagne I think.

2002 Vintage Champagne horizontal (Elystan Street, London): Served blind in a terrific flight (maybe the best / most consistent of them all of the evening) it held its own against the other two big guns. To me definitely the "value" surprise of the night, a wine that could have been had a few years ago for a relative bargain that is emerging as a grand champagne. Not giving away its low dosage that obviously this showed lovely early maturity signs, buttery, very balanced. A champagne to enjoy now as it is hard to imagine it getting much better. Must be in its sweet spot or there about.

Pale gold in color. Aromas of lemon curd, white peach, pear, red apple, warm brioche and roasted almonds are accompanied by piercing minerality. Elegantly structured; voluptuous fruit is evenly matched with crisp acidity that provides boundless energy. Finish is full volumed and rewardingly long. Spectacular!

Previous notes apply. Bright lemon and yellow citrus, white peach, stone fruit, and some pear. Add flecks of flinty minerality and some brioche to the profile, and you have yourself a fun and energetic BdB that maintains a well-honed focus and seemingly youthful cut. Presents itself as younger than it is. As mentioned before, this seems to have years ahead of it. A brighter and "yellow/whiter" style.

Drank at Christmas brunch, so was not exactly paying attention. But remember thinking it was delicious - still very fresh, hardly showing any age. Rich, with a little toast, bread, ripe apples, lemon curd, almonds -- but would not have guessed the age on it, tons of bubbles and bright acid.

And another excellent showing of this great Champagne. Beautifully ripe yellow fruit/pear, some brioche, honey, candied lemon zest, lemon oil, some chalky mineral notes, as well as some white flowers. It's pretty full-bodied, with an almost creamy mouthfeel, but still pretty high acidity cutting through it and providing a lot of tension. Perfectly integrated fine bubbles. Long finish. Another excellent bottle of this. It's peak-drinking right now and over the next 5-7 years.

A private dinner with friends (at home): First bottle from a half case. Nowhere near as daunting and acidic as I had anticipated, in fact it is rich and vinous and full-bodied, but also elegant and mineral, seamless and refined, long and nuanced finish. Pretty grand actually.
Previous notes apply. Good lift and tension, with just enough subtle oxidation to provide interest and depth. Classy and elegant. Still has years of life ahead of it. Paired great with potato rosti and caviar.

Beautifully balanced, with seamless flavors of yellow pear, lemon, stone fruit, white peach, brioche, crema, and some subtle minerality. Resolved and utterly captivating. The elegance and silky texture are notable, with a strikingly even distribution across the mid-palate on the rolling wave of an attack.
The amazing 2002 vintage shines through this wine. The tiniest of bubbles adds to the suave delivery of the flavors (without ever being overly effervescent), allowing the purity of fruit to truly shine through.
Drinking great now. Improved with a little air in the glass. A classy, subtly sexy-sophisticated smooth operator, Barry White of a Champagne. 96+ points - I may be underscoring, as it is one of the most texturally elevated wines I’ve had. Refined, finessed, and gorgeously pure. A Champagne that rests pleasantly in your memory the following day.

Cannot really believe what I do taste from my Stölzle Q1 Champagne glass, (the flute is a real bargain, a handmade champagne flute for only 25€!) this bottle is a perfect Champagne for Riesling -aficionados, that mineralic, acid driven, that biting young, and on the other hand that filigree showing on the palate, very velvety ripe apples paired with some sweet bread crust, all packed in a stunning persistent mineralic mouthfeel on the midpalate, ending very long and electric, if you are used to very dry Riesling like from the Nahe zone this one is for you right now, the rest of the CT-crowd should wait at least some 2- 3 years+, extraordinary bottle, very highly recommended! ***(**), 96+ potential

Heirloom and Tilia Collaboration Dinner (Heirloom, St.Paul, MN): Light gold color. Drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. Lovely toast, lemon, brioche, brisk mineral, floral on the nose. On the palate this is elegant, depth and energy, not weighty, tart lemon, tart pear, lemon chiffon texture, clean minerality. Slightly more biscuit.Fresh with some wet dough and green apple. High+ acid (no malo, and it shows). Bracing on the palate, with strong biscuit, just-baked baguette. Apply development. Wet sourdough and wilted apple. 5g/L dosage, and tastes like it (there's a ripeness but sugar isn't perceptible). Long finish of green apple skins, baguette, etc. Complex. I'm really liking the finish.

Dense, dry, it was all about crunchy green apples. Very long in the mouth. So much class, especially if you enjoy the introvert non-malo style of Champagne. I would cellar it for at lest three more years, it will improve a lot.

While this bottle was quintessential Gosset it lacked 'pizazz' I expected from previous bottles. I will attribute this to poor storage 'prior to' purchase. Desperate to have my Gosset fix I purchased in Lisbon at their arguably best wine shop but the champagne were in a 'closet' near the entrance and not temperature controlled. However, inspite, it still retain the Gosset hallmark aromas and flavor profile. it just seemed to lack freshness and seemed a bit tired. Still loved it. Remember provenance provenance provenance

On the palate there is also plenty of apples, apricot, candied lemon, honey, brioche again, some vanilla and also some mint. It's pretty full-bodied and rich, almost creamy, but there is a fantastic vein of high acidity cutting through everything. Perfectly integrated mousse. Super long and complex finish with just a hint of bitterness adding additional complexity. A sensational Celebris from this top-notch vintage! Drank it again. Not blind. Even more impressed than the first time, unbelievable young and fresh, well balanced. Very pleasant dri kable at this young stage. The beauty of the vinatage 2002. Will last at least for 10 more years. The finish is precise, sublime and long. In the palate grapefruiz and lime are dominating, but the aftertaste shows a little bit nuts and almonds. Phantastic champagne 95-96

Drank it blind, firstly a little bit too flowery and intense, but very refreshing minerality in the palate. Very clean and pure finish after lime and grapefruit. Minimal aging signs but clearly in the primary stage. Will live at least 10-15 years. I guessed right the vintage because of the perfect balance between fruit and acidity. After time and air showing more his beauty, some green hazelnuts in the finish. 94-96

Side by side with 96 Clos Des Goisses so this had a lot to live up to and it showed admirably. While Gosset is not a generally go to for me as I find the house style a little to dry, this bottle was the finest Champagne I have ever tasted from them. the long term aging of the 2002 fruit no doubt contributed to the fine balance. The profile reminded me of a cross between Henriot's enchantelours and Heidsieck's Rare, and while the PN signature came through in the rich and round yellow fruit notes, the wine remained focused and long. While this is in an excellent point i suspect this has the stuffing to even improve from here. I suspect it will reach it's second decade of life in glorious condition. I'm a fan.

A real treat, and I get the feeling that this is starting to open up. Initially there is some sulfuric minerality. Lots of yeast, green and yellow apples, yeast, water crackers, nuts, lemon zest and some hints of tropical fruit. Creamy mousse, high intensity, high acidity with some tartness but fairly round and fruity still. 52% CH and 48% PN. Minimum 10 years on the lees, looking at the degorgement date this has been on the lees for 12 years.

Yellow colour wuth an amazing amount of tiny bubbles. The nose is youthful showing apple, oak and gunpowder. Actually alot like the Swedish soda "Champis". The palate is very dry showing a wonderful citrus bitterness in the finish.
Not as available as many other 02-vintage champagnes are at the moment, still very promising!

Deep lemony yellow color. Somewhat light and restrained, but also rather sweet and fragrant nose with delicate aromas of ripe apples, some vanilla custard, a little bit of perfumed floral character and a hint of autolytic bread. Those floral notes really set this wine apart from many other wines in this tasting of your above-run-of-the-mill Champagnes. The wine is very dry and crisp on the palate with focused flavors of tart green apples, some grapefruit-driven citrus fruits, a little bit of creaminess, a hint of sweeter yellow fruit and a touch of chalky minerality. Flavor-wise the wine is still super-young, considering its +10 years of age. The structure relies more on the racy acidity than on the mousse, which feels very fine, silky and creamy smooth from the beginning, contributing more to the billowing texture than to the fresh structure. The finish is crisp and fresh with long, youthful flavors of aromatic herbs, steely minerality, tart green apples and some chalk dust with some sweeter nuances of honey creeping in towards the end of the aftertaste.
A very attractive and more subtle than in-your-face vintage Champagne from this very highly acclaimed vintage. Overall the wine still felt remarkably young, if taking into account how it is close to 12 years old, so it is perhaps still in a rather underwhelming condition right now. It is, of course, very approachable right now, but doesn't offer much beyond what a regular Gosset NV with base wine from a great vintage could offer. What this wine is all about is aging potential - I'd leave the wine for 6-8 more years in a cellar to develop some tertiary complexity. Now it is a very elegant and sophisticated effort, but not really a wine worth its price (87€). However, I'm willing to say the opposite, if the wine ages as gracefully as I expect.

A wonderful Champagne - and actually quite atypical for the Gosset house style. The 2002 Celebris is of course very young but still expresses an abundance of green Granny Smith apples combined with sweet almond, lime zest and again green apples! The palate follows through nicely and really adds to the experience with a super crisp acidity, bright and elegant mousse and a mouth coating experience. This is a lovely wine which will gain in complexity as time goes by. I suggest cellaring for a few years, but it certainly is a treat tonight too! Bravo!

Gyllengul i färgen. Magnifikt vin. Sorry, but not sorry (ok, möjligtvis för att det var sista flarran i lådan då).
God Jul, hörrni!

Tasting note:
Fine layer of oxidative notes providing for a layer of almonds and hazel nuts, fine fruit notes of citrus, pear and hints of raspberry, steely minerality and a spicy, herbal complexity. Also an idea of caramel. Round and perfectly fresh with a medium length finish. This was definitely up there with the likes of Krug (vintage 2002), but couldn’t quite match the stellar Piper-Heidsieck Rare of the same vintage.

Love it.

Starting to show a nice yellow colour, but still a youthfulness on the nose showing cream, crushed gravel and macadamia nuts and opens up with roasted coffee notes in a very pleasant way. Smoothing Granny Smith apples acidity on the palate also showing some sea buckthorn on the mid to late where a delicious lime zest bitterness showing on the lengthy finish. So vibrant and so intense, this 2002 is still very fresh and has long life ahead!

Presents itself as younger than it is. As mentioned before, this seems to have years ahead of it. A brighter and "yellow/whiter" style.

The amazing 2002 vintage shines through this wine. The tiniest of bubbles adds to the suave delivery of the flavors (without ever being overly effervescent), allowing the purity of fruit to truly shine through.
Drinking great now. Improved with a little air in the glass. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, yellow lemon colour. Legs. Fine bubbles.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of saline minerality, florality, citrus lemon, brioche. Developing.
On the palate, dry, racy high acidity, medium- alcohol (12%), medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of nuts, brioche, salty saline mineralty, citrus lemon drops, lemon mousse. Long finish.
Very good quality. Complex and complete. Lovely acidity and minerality. On a trajectory to greatness.

First time that happened to me with a Gosset, but it was a flawed bottle. Did not smell like wine. Too bad, as the previous bottles (one on Nov-16 one early Jan-17) were superurb. All same storage and store.

Champagne - 100 Vintage and NV Champagne; 12/15/2015-12/15/2020: During a tasting. Nose of bakery, yeast , quite floral but restraint and not too sweet. Very nice complexity, good tertiary aromas also emerge on the finish. Nice perlage and mouth feel. A top showing.

Pale-medium golden color. Very fine and small mousse. Explosive aromatics of ripe yellow fruit/pear, brioche, honey, apricot, candied lemon zest, chalk, nuts and some blossoms. It's full-bodied and rich, almost creamy, but with high acidity that is cutting through the richness. Perfectly integrated mousse. Super long and finish with a touch of bitterness adding additional complexity. I have tasted this about 4 times over the last year and it was nothing short of spectacular every single time. One of the very best Champagnes in the market at this point of time. (97+)

Fully mature and ready to go. Big and bold, OK acidity and lots of depth with white and red fruit. Kind of like Bolly Grand Annee with a bit less dosage and a touch of citrus. Really good.

Stunning. Lots op green apple in the nose. Also on the palate green apple, good acidity. The acidity gets less dominating, yeast and brioche kick in. Long finish... fantastic champagne. Will get better for sure.

IMW 2016 Champagne - Prestige Tasting (Hyatt, San Francisco): 10 years on lees - moderate yellow (touch darker than the PJ and Deutz)
No malo. Hand Riddled. 100% stainless steel
9-9.5

A little bit of toasted bread, orange and citrus. Medium-bodied, not to sweet. Perhaps it would have had more fruit or better minerality out to be more affordable. Experiencing it more as a good standard of champagne

Pale golden color. Very fine and small mousse. Vinous and super expressive nose of yellow fruit, brioche, honey, apricot, sweet apple and some blossoms. I absolutely love it and in the weight-class it's in, it's relatively moderately priced.

Served from magnum. Very nice drinking now. Indeed a beautiful wine, the best I have ever had from Gosset. Plenty of small bubbles, sweet fruity nose with some marzipan. Very delicate dry clean fruit on palate that doesn't leave you the first minute. Great pleasure. Wish I had more bottles.

Just a great, well made bottle of Champagne, lovely mousse, citrus, yuzu, medium weight, a champagne which need some food - it can be compared with many of the prestige cuvee, who offten cost 3 times more .. .. .
Lovely - Drink 2016-2022

Light yellow colour with fine tiny bubbles.
On the nose there's flowers and honey when it opens up.
The palate shows mature red apples in a soft style with elegant honey finish. After a while there was a licquorice.

Bravo!
