Around one hour of air before serving. In a really great place right now, beautifully balanced and strong complexity with a wide array of tertiary notes. Structurally one can obviously cellar this for a long time, but the upside seems limited imo. Fantastic value.

Too much acidity. Even after 24 hrs. A note to myself, leave 2010-11 alone for 4-6 years. Try to find rest of 2005 and drink those. This thing can go forever in my view. Just give them 20+- years after vintage.

Decanted 90 minutes before dinner. Starts restrained and quite austere, needed another 90 minutes to get approachable. Showed dark berries, leather and balsamic notes, on the palate very dry and tight with high acidity, medium+ body and long slightly drying finish.
As often with Tondonia and Bosconia Reserva, I love them when released because of the pure fruit and the freshness, then 2 or 3 years later (as now) they get into a difficult phase and at the age of 16 to 20 years (depending on the vintage), when getting mature and more complex, they get incredibly good again. If drinking now, give it a decant of 3 to 5 hours but better wait a couple of years, it will reward your patience.

91 Precioso vino color rubí intenso, bastante cubierto.

Savoury - we had it pinned stylistically between a Pinot Noir and a Xinomavro - red and black fruits (with a touch of sourness), good depth, but certainly a lighter midpalate style than it's Tondonia stablemate. Grainy tannins suggest a good deal of life and evolution to come over the next 15 to 20 years. Very good.

No decanting, poured in Burgundy-glasses and paired with Spanish cheeses and meats.
Initial note: Lots of berries, some pepper, a hint of stone fruits. Almost delicate on the nose, in fact.
Initial palate: Fresh spices, some olives, dark chocolate, wood as well as smoky, bacony flavors. Body is slightly out of balance in the mouth, it feels like the wine needs more time in the bottle to completely integrate itself - this definitely has the potential to be more "full-bodied" than it is right now.
Paired well with the majority of cheese sand cuts of meat, except for the blue cheese and the smoked, Iberico-pork, but it could very well also take on these with more aging.
I definitely liked it, and the two bottles we had went down fairly quickly. Good wine, for sure, will be even better in a couple of years.

Medium garnet colour. Medium (+) and developing nose with red plum, licorice, vanilla, cedar, chocolate, coffee, mushrooms, tobacco and wet leaves. Pronounced taste of red plum, fig, licorice, vanilla, cedar, chocolate, coffee, mushrooms, tobacco, wet leaves and caramel. Long and dry finish. High acidity. High tannins. Medium body. A very good Rioja that has matured well and still have potential. Drink now or over the next ten years. Goes well with beef, duck, lamb or pork.

Raspberry, cedar, and camphor ash on the oxidized nose with hints of ground pepper and candied flowers vaguely making themselves noticed, becoming more prominent with air. Rustic with high acidity and a bitter aftertaste. Similar to the 2006 five years ago, and that is drinking nicely today. This has more muscle and grip, but has not harmonized yet. Given the track record at Lopez, my guess is this wine will enter a fine drinking window in five years; the tannins should soften, better balance, and more complexity will emerge; it always does with Lopez wines. I think this vintage has the stuffing to last and give pleasure for a very long time, but patience is required.

Have a case and wanted to try one even though I still have a couple of the 09 left. Wine is too young now. Even after a two hour decant and drinking over another hour. Everything is here for this to be anazing. Much better than the 09. If this isn’t ready I know my 2010 Tondonia isn’t ready. I think 14-15 years after vintage is the time to drink these. Hold for a 92-93 point Rioja.
This takes about an hour or so to open up. As it does, it's classic Bosconia with all of the elegance showing off tones of sour red cherries, raspberries, dried herbs, rose petals, vanilla bean, oak notes, clove spice, toast, blk pepper, and currants. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and vibrant with tart, medium+ acidity and youthful, medium+ tannins. This is a gorgeous Bosconia and one that can easily get better over the next 5-8+ years.

Much better than last time, probably a small fault on that bottle. This drinks well with main characteristics of toasted oak and an intense acidity that's really refreshing with integrated tannins. Great match with pasta pomodoro.

Doing great, in some ways drinks best on PnP. But it’s still good after a few days, and knowing LdH, it might last much longer than that open once the polysulfides blow off.

My first dip into this vintage after marvelous 2008 a week ago. Perfumed and complex aroma of dried rose petals, dry cherries and strawberries, red plums, tobacco, sweet spices, leathery hints. Medium body, prominent high acidity is intertwined with spiced and delicately smoky red fruits. Seamlessly integrated polished fine tannins are lurking in the background. This is a big vintage, therefore I would give another 2-3 years for the structure to harmonize and acidity to integrate.

Palate: Fresh and soft on the entry, some nuttiness, almost no tannin. Complex rich fruit on the mid-palate. Reminds me of the home-made black currant cordial I used to get at my uncles estate as a child. It had probably sat in the cupboard for a year or two, so had those oxidated aged notes. Also some raisin. Aftertaste has has all of the above plus some yellow apples.

Deep dark ruby. We found this surprisingly rich / tobacco sweet, and rather round (albeit with good/ sufficient acid backbone) compared with prior vintages. Still, highly enjoyable over three nights, and we are glad to have a couple more.

Classic Rioja in the very best possible sense. Sweet tobacco and leather on the nose, Fries cherries, plenty of fruit but this is all about the balance between fruit, acidity and tannin. Long, integrated, and can last a long time!

90 Clásico a más no poder. Nariz de tostados, coco, notas lácticas. En boca tiene una acidez marcada, buena fruta roja por detrás. Agradecerá una guarda importante. Unos 5 años para la siguiente.
Intense garnet red, at the nose cherry with alcohol, herbs, a little bit of sweetness. On the palate paired to the Tondonia 2007 is the lighter one and less powerful, with a little more acidity and lighter tannins. Quite long finish.

Love this wine in all aspects. Needs some air, and then it is an absolute treat. This holds nothing back to the tondonia, except that I belive it is in its best drinking window right now. Tondonia will go on forever on their 2010. Good amount of fruit left, but earthy Tones moving forward, and the colour is turning more to brown. This is an. Great wine- and for the price it is absolutely perfect!

Medium-fullish, mature and spicy nose. Hints of soy sauce. Meaty and mushrooms. Dried fruit anc curry. Good, but lacking elegance. Mature, medium-fullish palate. Dried cherry and plum. Slightly dryish. But very good balance and mid-palate elegance. A bit rustic finish. Don't see the point in cellaring this.

Sour Cherry with screaming acidity. Medium body. Some wood and leather. Mild tannins. Acid - Fruit - Bitter Finish; not complex, not interesting. Better with food. Better after being opened for a few hours. Vinegar after a day or two.
Plomme, kirsebær, skogbunn, litt eik/vanilje. Mindre eik og lettere enn mye Rioja, ihvertfall frisk til å være 13 år gammel. Flott vin til et stykke kjøtt.

Nose: nice intensity, roses, stingy sour cherry. Cinnamon. Hint of vanilla Tasting: Concentrated, but balanced - not the most full-bodied Rioja. Oak nicely integrated and not overdominant. Fruit-driven from the onset, steep tasting curve, sour cherry acid and red berry notes towards peak, refreshing finish blending in moderate tannins - some bitter fruit notes, slightly reminding of lingonberry. Lingering aftertaste. 88p

Having a hard time understanding this wines general high rating, ecpecially considering it’s rated in the same range as Tondonia from 2010, a wine that was truly amazing with insane QPR.
This was covered in acidity so much I had a really hard time getting a sense of the fruit. A little oak came through but that was pretty much it. Followed over 5 hours and also kept in fridge over night to try day 2 with not much, if any, development. Leaving it at NR incase it was a faulty bottle or the style is just not for me.
Medium red with a brick rim. Glazed red fruit. Savory brown spice. Funky animal hair lift along with some mahogany. Drying savory palate. Mid palate flesh. Soft polished tannins and round mouthfeel. Layers of berry, brown spice, mahogany and animal. Slight charcutier profile. Good depth but very funky and certainly old world. Too much brett and funk for me.

Lovely tertiary aromas of leather, cigar box, and mushrooms. Even on day 3, the tannins are still drying, so I would hold this for a few more years before approaching again. It should improve once it starts to soften - there is plenty of acid and concentration for the long haul. For now, it is on the more austere side and needs food.

Drank side-by-side with the 2010 Tondonia Reserva. At this stage, both seem a little unintegrated, with the Bosconia having more prominent tart acidity and a hint of VA (which I generally enjoy in moderation), whereas the Tondonia has more prominent notes of American oak. Both are lovely in their own right, and for my tastes the Bosconia is preferable at the moment. I think the Tondonia will come into its own over time.

Crimson in colour. Nose shows old books, leather, spice and red fruit extract. Silky tannins, bright acidity, leather, real explosion of intense red fruit. Good freshness. Seems fully resolved and at peak but not about to hurtle off downslope anytime soon. BTG at Hawksmoor, Borough

Decanted for around 30 minutes and then drunk alongside 2010 Tondonia. Not as overtly, slightly immaturely marked by American oak, and lighter, brighter and more acidic. Concentrated forest fruits and a wonderfully long, fruity, refreshing finish. Seemed less 'delicious' than the Tondonia, but more distinctive.

Decanted for one hour. Medium to dark ruby colour. Red fruit, bluebery, dill, tobacco, spices, cinnamon, vanilla, and light smoke, with great acidity, well-integrated tannin, and very good length. Medium-bodied, with notable acidity that asks for hearty food. Consistent over a period of three days. Very young. Hold, and start drinking from 2028.
Absolutely enjoyable, complex, and thrilling. A bit heavier than a number of similar Lopez offerings I have had, but this is really, really, good. Requires 2 hours of decanting and will benefit from another 3-10 years to hit peak. Classic Lopez palate and finish.

92/93. More aromatic than Tondonia 2010. Has lovely aromas of strawberries, cherries, mint and flowers. Its spherical stylish layered zingy red and blue fruits palate has impressive depth and finishes long, tangy and refreshing. 13.5 %. Needs 3-4 hrs aeration. Lay down 10-15 years. Excellent value at around 24 Euros.
Popped and Poured, Saturated Garnet Red with a solidly dense core; a whiff of the Lopez de Heredia smell (sweaty stuff...)leather, some tannins, still closed On the palate noticeable acidity up-front, a tad thin, soft (apart from the acidity which gives it tension); dusty tannins and leather . Needs a good swirl and a second sip to come to life in the mouth.

A glass of this remaining some 5 days after opening - forgot this was in the wine fridge (stored at 10 degrees). The classic LdH red Rioja nose, dried coconut and dried prune; medium-bodied with a finessed texture and flow, flavours similar to the nose, the acid spine has now integrated well (protruded slightly 5 days ago - noted that insufficient air was provided on opening).

Light whiffs of tobacco smoke, red plum and baked fruits join blueberries and raspberry confiture as the wine opens. Bracing acidity is assuaged by new oak spices, coffee grinds and chocolate that add an element of richness to the mid-palate. The wine has a brightness to the mid-palate with a mineral edge, a linear feel and some blue cheese on rising firm tannins. The freshness propels the wine forward whilst the long finish lingers with pipe tobacco and wood smoke.

Mildly floral with black berries throughout, this is still slightly firm but very elegantly styled, with good weight supported by very engaging textures. Good now with lots of upside, while much more accessible than the 2009 Tondonia tasted next.

The wine pours a dark brickish red, quite opaque with a translucent purple rim.
The reviews on CT are mixed whether to decant or not, so PnP and here are the first notes: - nose: intense dark cherries, liquorice, vanilla, and some dustiness. - palate: the acidity is well balanced with notes of underripe plums, cherries, and mushrooms on the finish. The tannins are fine and not astringent.
Over 3 hours, the acidity developed this balsamic savory character with tannins getting round and a spiced finish coming through.

A blend of Tempranillo (80%), Garnacha (15%), Mazuelo and Graciano, the grapes sourced from the El Bosque vineyard. Fermented spontaneously in old and very large oak fermenters, aged for 5 years in barrels and then for a further 3 years in bottles before release. 13,5% alcohol, 2 g/l residual sugar and 6,8 g/l acidity. Tasted in a Bosconia 2011-2002 vertical.
The wine looks almost identical to the 2011 vintage, only with a subtly more evolved, slightly rusty hue. The nose feels ripe and dark-toned with vibrant aromas of sweet black cherries and juicy figs, some plummy tones, a little bit of old leather, light floral nuances, a hint of clove-driven spice and a woody touch of old oak. The wine feels juicy and silky on the palate - perhaps coming across as slightly lighter and more airy than the 2011 - with a medium body and quite expressive flavors of ripe lingonberries and fresh cranberries, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of crunchy red plum, light woody notes of old oak spice, a hint sanguine hint of iron and a touch of chokeberry juice. The overall feel is firm and balanced, thanks to the high acidity and somewhat grippy medium-plus tannins. The finish is dry, long and moderately grippy with a savory aftertaste of tart lingonberries and ripe red plums, some leathery tones, a little bit of old woody oak, light cranberry nuances, a hint of sour cherry bitterness and a touch of blood.
It feels as though this vintage was a bit more ripe than the 2011, but the ripeness here didn't really translate into more concentration or sense of weight - on the contrary, this vintage felt slightly lighter and more delicate compared to the 2011, the ripeness just making the wine feel a bit more open and expressive, shifting the fruit profile slightly towards the darker end of the spectrum. I guess 2010 is more about finesse and structure, whereas 2011 is more about depth and substance. At the moment 2010 feels slightly more impressive when compared side-by-side with 2011, but it might change with age - despite its structure, I get the feel that the 2011 vintage might be packing more stuff to go for the really long run. And even if the wine is drinking really well right now, I'm quite positive it will do nothing but get better over the next decade or so. Bosconia might be the most Burgundian wine in the RLdH lineup, but in our vertical tasting this vintage was definitely one of the most "Burgundian" vintages of Bosconia. Terrific stuff and superb value at approx. 24€.
30 min decant and this wine is singing. Dark cherry , fennel. Juicy upfront fruit but a lot of substance beneath it. Bought 3 bottles but might have to get a case. Im finding i Love bosconia way more than tondonia
Dag 1 typisk tradisjonell moden rioja aromapalett med inntørket sviskete frukt, krydret dillaktig eik. Mistanke om ørliten kork. Hederlig konsentrasjon, syre og kurve. Present i munn. Dag 2 rask fruktkollaps. Karamellstreif over rosin, slapp vin. Portvinsaktig slitenhet.

First - I know it's April 1st but picture has nothing to do with April's fool. It was took today and it's real snow. This wine is a symbol of Spanish wines. High quality, affordable price, loved by critics and consumers. $28( tax inc.) and what we have for this price. 10 year old 🍷, aged 5 years in oak barrels and 5 years in bottles. Single vineyard from Haro, that is heart of Rioja Alta. Constantly rated year after year at least 92 pts by many critics ( why the winery did not jack up price 🤔?) Aromas: very strong smell of black berry, cedar, flowers. Wine is velvety, you enjoy to swirl this fluid around your tongue. Taste is very fruity. Black berry, strawberry, red cherry, black currant, nice mix of milk chocolate with tannins and gentle, but tangy acidity at long finish. Very addictive juice. Perfect structure. One more thing - this wine is twelve years old, but it still needs to be decanted about an hour.

Tempranillo (80%), Garnacho (15%), Mazuelo and Graciano. Average vine age: 40 years. Ageing period in American oak barrels: 5 years, being racked twice a year and fined with fresh egg whites. 13.5% vol.
Starts quite simple and slightly reductive, needs an hour in the glass to bring the fruit to the front but then it gets superb. Great nose with red cherry, spices and fresh moss, on the palate fresh and very dense, integrated tannin and oak, long finish, very elegant. After an additional hour, the tannin gets slightly dominant, still enjoyable but it shows that it requires some additional years to show its best, ideal between 2024 and 2034+, I guess.
It's the first bottle of Bosconia for me and it's very different to the Tondonia vintages I have tasted yet, many compare it with the difference between Bordeaux and Burgundy, for me it's more like the comparison between the Nebbiolo from Alba (Barolo and Barbaresco) and the Nebbiolo from northern Piedmont (Lessona or Carema). Anyway, great showing, 92-94, have to get more of these.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing black currants, plums, sour cherries, light oak, spices, peppercorn, dark coffee, tobacco leaf, earth, wet leaves and herbs.
Short finish with round tannins and tangy pomegranates.
This 13 year old is showing nice complexity now. Tasty and a good food wine.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.
This 2010 vintage was probably the best vintage in Rioja in the last 20 years. So nice to try these kind of wines.

Nose: Earth, overcooked pasta, cherries, mint, paint, raisin, acetone, oxidative.

Followed over 5 hours and also kept in fridge over night to try day 2 with not much, if any, development. Leaving it at NR incase it was a faulty bottle or the style is just not for me.

Concentrated forest fruits and a wonderfully long, fruity, refreshing finish. Seemed less 'delicious' than the Tondonia, but more distinctive.

The wine pours a dark brickish red, quite opaque with a translucent purple rim.
The reviews on CT are mixed whether to decant or not, so PnP and here are the first notes:
- nose: intense dark cherries, liquorice, vanilla, and some dustiness.

Dag 1 typisk tradisjonell moden rioja aromapalett med inntørket sviskete frukt, krydret dillaktig eik. Mistanke om ørliten kork. Hederlig konsentrasjon, syre og kurve. Present i munn. Dag 2 rask fruktkollaps. Karamellstreif over rosin, slapp vin. Portvinsaktig slitenhet.

God lengde.

Moden med avslipte tanniner.
Brunaktig i fargen.
Veldig god

Drinking very well already. The tannins are more or less resolved, but the fruit is still fairly pure and red. The acidity is alive and kicking.
I reckon I’ll save my last bottle another year or three, but there’s no shame in drinking now.

Constantly rated year after year at least 92 pts by many critics ( why the winery did not jack up price 🤔?)
Aromas: very strong smell of black berry, cedar, flowers.

Do yourself a favor and sit on these for at least a few more years before opening.

Beautiful but needs substantial air to really open up. Nose is intoxicating with cherry, oak, forest floor, vanilla. Bought 6 but will add more for the long haul. Needless to say, QPR is strong with these wines.
