Pale elemon in the glass, pillowy mousse- pronounced, developing aromas of brioche, toast, lemon, bruised apples, yellow apple, quince, pear, creme, sea spray, and a steely minerality. In the mouth, the wine is dry, med bodied, high acid, med alcohol, pronounced flavor intensity, and a medium finish. Overall, very good. This is such a reliable bottling and at ~$60 usd, is a helluva value, a realiable cellar defender.

Bought a case of the Resonance after being very impressed by a 2016 Concordance recently. Slow ox'ed for about 1h. Pale lemon yellow in the glass. Plenty of bruised apples as others have mentioned. Good freshness and nice balance. A very approachable and good quality Blanc de Noir, even if the 2016 Concordance was two notches above this NV in terms of aromatics, complexity and delineation.

7th bottle from a full case, last consumed this wine about a year ago. Consumed with Greek salad and pecorino potatoes...and a little calamari...this was racy and tasty tonight. Notes of bright citrus and orchard fruits, with strawberry and blackberry in the upper register, this entry-level Extra Brut BdN shows minerality and depth. Crisp and lip-smacking on the finish, drink through 2025+.

In pristine condition (w clear blue skies), this week’s option for #champagne2023, now bottle #20 was Dominique Moreau’s Marie Courtin Résonance, pleasingly vinous, medium-weight & w impressive length. Aromas centre on toasty/smoky notes w hazelnuts, almonds, English toasting bread, wet stones & backbone citrus. The intense palate further emphasises minerality w flint, apricots & peach - lovely savoury character that will develop nicely w time, superb mousse & viscosity, lively & fresh. Long, bright & dry finish!

Pale yellow color. Attractive nose of florals, ripe red-tinted fruit, touch of salinity, chalk. Palate is bone dry and pure minerals and acid. Very slight touch of citrus, if I am being generous. It is as enjoyable as stepping on a lego block. I just don't see the point of this wine. If you like licking a piece of chalk laced with sulfuric acid, this wine is a perfect match for you.

Dinner at Chez Dalluge: Baptism of the New Kitchen (Chez Dalluge, MN): Pale gold color. Drank a glass over 30 minutes. This was an awesome bottle and as the name would imply, it was simply resonant. There's depth and energy here, along with lemon and distinct red berry fruits, floral notes and a delicate cream note on the nose too. The palate shines with a mix of red fruits and citrus notes, hints of peach, so crisp and delicious, pure and lightly toasted. Best bottle of this I've ever had.

From the long, long ago Garagiste offering, perhaps 2009 based on JR's description. Getting a deeper gold color compared to previous bottles -- haven't tried one in at least 5 years, while we were still in Maryland -- probably to be expected given the time in the cellar.
Very lively nose, very BdN to my mind. Extra brut is an understatement and the middle palate seems very compressed (or OTH?) but the acidity and remaining sparkle make it delicious and refreshing. The acid-driven finish sticks around for minutes.
I'll save the last couple bottles for driveway drinking this summer.

Ripe yellow apple and lemon peel and brioche on the nose. Quite pronounced autolytic notes. Screeching, extremely high acidity on the palate. Extremely chalky and terroir-driven. The chalky sensation on the gums would almost lead one to think there were tannins. Despite the extremely high acidity and taut-ness, the wine was very much in balance. The acidity stood up well to food. The wine opened up quite nicely with air exposure. Ripe yellow apple and lemon pith.

Disgorged June 2014, cellared for 5 years. 100% pinot noir, extra brut. Could really taste the pinot up front, with pleasant red fruit notes. Finish was dominated by severe acidity, and for me, lacked richness or finesse.

Bottle #3 of 12. Consumed over 2 days. On the first day, this BdN was rather foursquare, with cherry fruit notes and a sweet-tart finish. On the 2nd day, the wine really seemed to blossom, showing cherry and lemon fruit notes, with some nuttiness, fresh pastries, chalk, and a long and tense Extra Brut finish. Lovely on day 2. Drink now through 2025.

WTDS at Meritage (Meritage, St. Paul): Light medium gold color. Drank a glass over 45 minutes. 100% PN, Disgorged 5/19, all 2015 fruit. This was a little floral on the nose with distinct light strawberry fruits both on the nose and palate, oyster shells, very nice minerality, apple, medium full bodied, apple peel, tart and fresh with good density. Doesn't come off angular or stark. Very good. 91+pts.

A fresh and bright nose, with citrus, pear and a little autolysis. On the palate, it's clean, crisp, and chalky with citrus and asian pear. Focused and a little compact, it's well done in a lean, low dosage style. Outstanding if you like the style. Otherwise, I think it will come across as too angular and lean. I really liked it.

Bottle #2 of 12, this is a nice, correct BdN Champagne with tart blackberry fruit, drizzled with lemon juice, sprinkled with chalk and some lilacs in the background. A linear and tight finish, this wine will drink nicely through 2025 or so.

MASTER CHAMPAGNE; 1/28/2019-4/30/2019 (WESTIN PALACE MILANO): Degustato alla cieca. Solo inox. Annata 2014. Deg. 10/2017 Mare, luce, cristallo e calcare. Mela golden, infuso alla verbena. Longilineo, elegante, quasi puntiforme.

1st of 12 bottles. This wine is a BdN. Shows off nose and palate of strawberry, lemon, apple, chalky soil, almond paste. Great acidity on the med+ length finish. If I am being picky, it is slightly flabby for an Extra Brut, but quite good overall. Drink now through 2022+.

A private lunch (Restaurant Bak, Amsterdam, NL): Made from 100% Pinot Noir, selection massale, organic viticulture. Base vintage not specified on the bottle, but probably 2014. Dry but not austere, lots of smoky minerality, firm but well integrated acidity, terroir rather than fruit driven, very precise.

Hanzell dinner at Table, Donkey and Stick (Chicago, IL): 2014 version. The nose here is much better than the palate for me. I like the bread, the yeast, and the white pears on the nose. The palate, however, strikes me as too angular, with more acidity than the amount of extract here can handle. It's a very lean and taut wine, probably a bit too young and before it's fully integrated. Some time (and food!) will help round everything out here, but for now, the elbows are a bit too sharp for me.

Light straw, medium weight, long yeasty finish. Not especially good QPR, although an appealing sipper with lingering flavours. The low alcohol level, 12%, suggestsearly harvest or difficult ripening

Label printing error! Unclear if this is disgorged 12 or 13. This is noble and so textural. Porcini mushroom dust, radish or daikon, browned Granny Smith apple. So compelling. Tiny hint of vanilla cream soda on the late accumulative finish. So great.

Blanc de Noirs made from organically grown Côte des Bar Pinot Noir. 12% alcohol. No vintage or age indication supplied in the label. Served blind.
Pale yellowish white color of apple flesh; the appearance is ever so slightly hazy. The nose is brooding with dark-toned aromas of dark-fruited Pinosity, earthy spices, some sweet autolytic hints of nougat and a touch ripe plums, even plum liqueur. You really can taste the opulence of the Aube fruit. The wine is medium-bodied and round, even quite silky on the palate with moderately high acidity. There are rich, yet remarkably focused flavors of dark-toned toasty autolysis, ripe red apples, some syrupy richness, a little bit of white peach and hints of roasted nuts. The mousse feels very ample and persistent, but also really fine, almost minute. The finish is gentle, round and velvety smooth with ripe, dark-toned flavors of sweet red apples, some creamy autolysis, a little bit of chalky bitterness, a hint of toasty character and a touch of red fruits.
Normally the Pinot Noir-driven Côte des Bar Champagnes are very voluminous, occasionally even monolithic in style, but even though that regional opulence can be detected here, it still remains in the background; this is first and foremost a very sophisticated and mineral example of the style, keeping the brooding Pinot character nicely reined, only letting it peek through a little bit. Wonderful, harmonious style that is very impressive already, but most likely will develop even further in a cellar. Very highly recommended.

The Résonace showed a very vital and almost sturdy mousse. I must have got myself a recently disgorged bottle. The nose appeared very filigree, nicely accentuated, mostly flowery, however very well equippted with some shy brioche, a whiff of ginger and fragrances which reminded me of mild almond stollen. The fruitful components appeard more yellow citrus'y and packed with red apples. Pretty much the same sensations on the palate. Can't elaborate more properly ... hangover issues, I guess. Anyway, everything was very lean, a hint too juvenile zippy, nevertheless quite seductive and downright zero-dosage-style resolute. Plenty of very crisp and smile-inducing Pinot characteristics, too. Hellishly vivid acid (in a downright positive sense), overall quite elegant and even a bit elevating (sorry for my unusual pathos)! Again, very resolute, vitalizing, very clear, very precise, super crisp and totally sans make-up! Doubtlessly a very decent start into the new year! Let's hope it will be better! At least the starting fizz was much better ...
Very attractive. Tight, with savory notes that add character to a nicely balanced, clean wine. Light yeast. The wine has good body and a high quality... would drink well on its own without the bubbles.

APPEARANCE This Champagne wine is clear in appearance, with medium gold color intensity. The mouse is fine with persistent bubble streams. NOSE This nose is clean, with medium+ aroma intensity of leesy notes like fresh baked bread, biscuit, a touch of cream and then fresh red apple. The nose is developing. PALATE The palate is dry, medium+ in acidity, with a medium body and alcohol. The flavor intensity is medium+ with the bread and biscuit notes following on from the nose, with a juicy acidity and fruit flavor that reminds me of fresh red apple and pear fruit slices and a beam of stony minerality. The finish is medium plus with a lingering chalky texture on the palate. CONCLUSIONS Outstanding quality, this "Grower" Champagne wine is precise, superbly fresh and balanced, with complex nuances. it does not try hard, but once you pay attention it is hard to turn away. This wine is ready to drink now, but has potential for aging.

Extremely acidic and bone dry. A bit of red apples and chalk on the nose. On the palate there are some red apples and berries and a distinctive salty minerality. Quite a remarkable and impressive champagne, but very demanding as well. I don't know when this was disgorged, but probably not too long ago. I think it will benefit from several years of cellaring.

This bottle surprised me, given my past experiences. It is still unabashedly austere and punishingly so on the finish, but it seems to have put on a bit more heft and developed a hint of fruit to carry the acidity. Still, far from enjoyable, and very far from earning its price tag.

Snowed in, bored... let's drink some champagne. March 2012 disgorgement date, possible infanticide. Not much on the nose, pale gold in the glass with scant visible mousse. Lots more on the palate, starting with an almost searing acidity. Definitely wants food. Lees-y and full, with an intriguing finish that's slightly bitter and vaguely reminiscent of Dr. Pepper.

Its got the disgorgement of 2012 and I know its a vintage but darn it if I can't find it. In any case, my my, how we have changed. Consistent with previous note, this is just not an enjoyable wine, with high acidity merely for the sake of it, and almost no depth, fruit, or interest of which to speak. In a desire to rid myself of the bottle with something worthy of its character, it accompanied ceviche. Its shrill, acidic, and unapologetically austere nature was tamed somewhat by the acidity and spice of the food.

Big, soft bubbles in a pale yellow liquid. Initially, pineapple and lemon dominate the bouquet as well as the palate, giving the extra tart "tang" that others have mentioned. Underneath that was toast, and very light sweetness. A bit harsh to sip, it went very well with scallops and mushrooms in a white sauce.
With some time, it may have mellowed and become more rounded, or maybe my palate adjusted with the food. Either way, when paired with food, this bottle was perfect.

Maybe I just don't understand Champagne, but I didn't get a lot out of this. On the tart side of acidic, big bubbles, subtle flavors where nothing stood out as exceptional and it just came across as mostly uninteresting. Totally drinkable, just not exciting.

Terres et Vins de Champagne 'a Portland; 5/17/2013-5/18/2013 (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR): 100% Pinot Noir. Pretty soft and quiet aromas. The palate is soft with a nice creaminess and some minerals setting in, but beginning to come across as metallic as its held. The finish shows more of this unpleasant metallic notion. The first impression (before tasting) is quite nice with a fragrance of pure pear and lime fruit tinged with yeast, mineral and gingerbread notes. Unfortunately it's nowhere near as pleasant on the palate; hollow, thin, lacking anything on the back end and more acidity than anything else. Maybe it may be too young (2007 vintage fruit) and more time in bottle might flesh it out somewhat, but right now it's punishingly austere and makes a pretty good argument for why dosage isn't a bad thing in Champagne.

According to Garagiste, this is a 2007 "Grower Champagne +" (where the "+" I think stands for high-priced wines from the Cotes de Bar that Terry Theise does not represent). It has "stiletto like precision" (whatever that means) and is "ultra-pure" (which sounds like a Budweiser commercial).
I really wanted to love this wine. Really really. The nose is a pronounced quince and orange peel and the attack is a juicy, minerally, delineated lemon and pear with some yeasty notes and a bit of tropical fruit, pepper, and some floral notes. Then it falls apart, with a mostly hollow mid-palate and a somewhat drying finish. A lot of people seem to hope that this will "come around" but it is not near the turning point yet, and is overly austere and backward, with little lingering depth. Perhaps it will surprise in a few years (like hoping a film-shool project becomes a cult classic?), but not worth the price of admission now.

This was the white WOTN for me as it was everything and more than I was expecting from this 100% Pinot Noir Champagne. Courtin babies her vineyards, to yield the best fruit possible for the vintage. The care and love are in the bottle as this wine shines as an incredible example of what the grower movement in Champagne is all about. Color: Golden yellow, with many bubble stands, when corked you could see the bubbles within the bottle getting agitated. Nose & Palate: Leesy, yeasty, biscuit notes meet apple, cherry and white plum. The palate is crisp, with persistent acidity and a long and fine finish.

Average+ QVPA and a solid bubbly for the $52 retail. Came in 3rd place out of a 6 flight grower champagne tasting; only the slightly restrained intensity on the nose held it back from higher marks. That may improve with a little bottle age. 100% pinot noir.

This is 2007 fruit -- finally coming around. Wide open nose and palate of dark fruit, some chocolate, hints of butterscotch. Focused and dry. Consumed in a lean wine glass which really allowed this wine to open and blossom and allow the bubbles to dissipate and take a back seat to the fruit in a real good way. This is a real nice drink, really unique in its flavor profile.

Grower Champagne for Third Thursday (Willamette Wine Storage): Flowers and spring rain show on the nose backed by some tart apricot scents. The aromas are lovely! It's smooth and clean on the palate. The acidity is balanced, and the bubbles deliver a great feeling of lightness. Softness lingers and ghosts of cherry flavors keep it friendly. As I continue through the glass, the acidity slowly builds to fully dry the mouth. This is gorgeous. 92+

Grower - Only (Imperial Treasure NanBei @ Taka): Alcohol :: 12% From 2009 fruits. Small beads. Lively and energetic, it has the sense of feminine and elegance. Yellow fruits, a bit austere but the floral scent already compensate that. Medium bodied, flavorful but also has a bit of bitterness there. Finished off with soft, rounded mineral, full of stone fruits but lack of length. I believed this is due to the low temp. When it sits in the glass with more air and temp increase, the wine get the right balance as well as harmony. Getting more exotic with pineapple and high tone ginger spice, finished is getting longer too.

Quite interesting. Pale golden colour with less bubbles than you expect on this type of wines. Very strange nose, closer to a white wine than a traditional Champagne: dry, mineral, flowery notes. Dryness continued on the palate, with excellent balance between acidity and freshness. Long after taste. A different champagne, away from the classic flavours but really intriguing.

Bright nosed led by citrus and a touch of floral qualities, with a palate that is fresh and lean, with great depth of fruit and minerality. Yellow gold in appearance. Non dosage and clearly apparent from the go. Aromatically mineral with hints of citrus. Not particularly strong on fruits, veering towards the greenish spectrum. Lemon! Lean and taut with good purity. Finish was somewhat short with a trace of bitterness but at the same time a lingering returning sweetness of fruit that was lacking on the palate. With food, this champy took on a dimension of richness and weightiness. On the palate, developed some softness and roundness though by any imagaination still a structured wine. This bottle was disappointing compared to previous better bottles I've had, perhaps an off bottle. Needs a retry.

Striking light gold color for a NV. Lots of pear and raw dough on the nose initially. Exceptionally balanced and well thought out. Tight bead, nice mouthfeel and just enough acidity to cleanse the palate. I have it in a big Riedel and as it opens up and warms up I am getting wonderful pear brandy notes along with a strong sense of earth e.g. wet clay and chalk dust. Look closely and you will find some super ripe fruits emerging from the background like papaya and banana.

Lemon and a multitude of interweaving spices grace the palate. Medium-long finish. Perfectly paired with garlic lobster ravioli. Very tight right now – great improvement over two hours. Lovely tight champagne that shined in a Riedel Vitis flute. I had a bottle a few months ago and was unimpressed with it...the non-dosage overwhelmed what little fruit I could discern using a standard flute. I just got the Vitis flutes and wanted to try them. Big difference. The flute concentrated the aromas which enhanced the subtle tastes. Dough, lemon zest, and other flavors that rounded out the wine made this a big hit.

Has a bit more roundness than I expected for non-dosage and would have liked more acidity at this stage. Has some toasty notes at the front end but is quickly taken over by fairly classic champagne notes. I wasnt in position to take detailed notes but I found this nice and priced maybe about right...with the prsoe from garagiste...

Angular and awkward at this point, but still elegant. Orchard fruit, Near East spice and a beautiful mineral finish tinged with sea spray and silver tarnish. This is austerely dry, almost ethereal, but still surprisingly dense, like a Lafon Chardonnay if it had been grown at the top of Chablis and had bubbles. The fruit is accessible, almost to the point of transparent, but everything else seems very tightly wound. This hopefully will reward some patience.

Focused and a little compact, it's well done in a lean, low dosage style. Outstanding if you like the style. Otherwise, I think it will come across as too angular and lean. I really liked it.

Mare, luce, cristallo e calcare. Mela golden, infuso alla verbena. Longilineo, elegante, quasi puntiforme.

APPEARANCE
This Champagne wine is clear in appearance, with medium gold color intensity. The mouse is fine with persistent bubble streams.
NOSE
This nose is clean, with medium+ aroma intensity of leesy notes like fresh baked bread, biscuit, a touch of cream and then fresh red apple. The nose is developing.
PALATE
The palate is dry, medium+ in acidity, with a medium body and alcohol. The flavor intensity is medium+ with the bread and biscuit notes following on from the nose, with a juicy acidity and fruit flavor that reminds me of fresh red apple and pear fruit slices and a beam of stony minerality. The finish is medium plus with a lingering chalky texture on the palate.
CONCLUSIONS
Outstanding quality, this "Grower" Champagne wine is precise, superbly fresh and balanced, with complex nuances. it does not try hard, but once you pay attention it is hard to turn away. This wine is ready to drink now, but has potential for aging.

Its got the disgorgement of 2012 and I know its a vintage but darn it if I can't find it. In any case, my my, how we have changed. More amaretto, more toast, lots of richness on the palate but also incredibly tense and driven. This is exciting stuff. I should have bought more as it is just barely peaking into the future.

Lots of lemon, green apple and some toasty notes on the quite expressive nose, palate comes across a bit more linear with a nice tangyness on the mid palate, finish is somewhat light

Puckering acids but not very pleasing.

Came in 3rd place out of a 6 flight grower champagne tasting; only the slightly restrained intensity on the nose held it back from
higher marks.

From 2009 fruits.

Opened for 8hrs. The aromas is rather cold and discreet but display great focus with precise layer of smoke, gun powder and citrus grapefruits. This has intense mineral purity with excellent tension on the mouth. I really like the focus here, grapefruits, citrus and fresh herbs all supported firmly by the solid acid backbone. Real energy leads to refreshing, juicy finish. It is a joy to drink this.

Truly incredible stuff! Predominantly 2002/2004 fruit from Aube. Organic. Light golden color. Tiny and precise bead. Tight lemon dominated nose. Lemon and a multitude of interweaving spices grace the palate. Medium-long finish. Perfectly paired with garlic lobster ravioli. Very tight right now – great improvement over two hours. A phenomenal value for grower champagne of this caliber. Dominique Moreau-Polisot is most definitely a winemaker to watch!
