Birthday with Vosne Romanee (Boka - Chicago IL): Oxidized. Probably should have known by the brown color before opening, but it took 2 seconds from when the cork was removed for everybody within 5 feet to know this was oxidized.

No signs of oxidation in the appearance, medium gold. The nose delivers a llot of complexity - honeyed, ripe pineapple/tropical fruit juice, shortbread and cream. Palate: We weren't expecting too much given the vintage but were very pleasantly surprised. Round, medium + body & a creamy texture matched the nerve of acid, delivering far more on a structural level than expected. Delicious tropical fruit juice, no signs of decline but clearly at its peak. ***

(Marquis de Laguiche (Joseph Drouhin) Montrachet) Light lemon and earthy nose; great body, earthy, subtle, refined lemon and mineral palate; medium-plus finish

Tenth Annual White Truffle Dinner (Chez Weber - Chicago IL): Dark color before it was opened, then darkened two shades further within a couple of minutes. Nothing of interest remained.
