Firm, crisp, meaty, chewy, old-school styled, classic Bordeaux with rustic tannins and cedar, tobacco, and leafy herbs that accents the crunchy red currants. Drink from 2022-2040.

1986 Bordeaux plus some supplements (Restaurant Brunnenstube, Beinstein): Popped and poured. Clear, deep garnet color. Nose with some brett, tertiary notes, oak, some tobacco. On the palate some animal and barn notes, good integrated acidity, very good and firm tannin, good texture, juicy, good length. Unfortunately, also some irritating cellar tone that prevents the wine from rating as flawless. 88-89

We drank this along with the 86 Gruaud Larose, and I had a very slight preference for this one. This showed more red fruit tones and hints of mint along with the earth and leather tones. Just a hair more complexity and less structured. The GL seems like it is the younger wine with possibly more development ahead, where this one is at peak. I could have sat with this and drank it all night.

the bottle show a small seepages, so it may not be representative.
4 hours slow ox, 30 min decant and drank over 2 hours.
Clear, purple (i was surprise), black currant, red cherry, red plum, with eucalyptiusWhite pepper, and liquorice. Having cellared the bottle for 20+ years, i was suprised that tertiary flavour was weak with some leather, coffee and tobacco
The remaining fruit seamed awkward and was not in harmony with the firm unyielding tannin. Finish was medium

Finished my last bottle, and decanted it for 1 hour. Very nice nose, typical Bordeaux perfume. Nice red fruits on the palate, with good intensity. Served this with Prime Rib and Yorkshire Pudding.
