12/29/23 Shmoné. Lyndon blinded us side by side with 2009 Drouhin Griotte. Both were served overly chilled, esp griotte which was uncharacteristically shut down. The goal was to find the only commonality between the two, which were showing very differently… I was the only one who got it right that they were from the same vintage, though I called it 2014. I thought faiveley ech was a Bachelet 2014 charmes which is quite expressive now but displays pronounced oak and the drouhin griotte a 2014 Duroche Latricieres which is red fruited and better integrated. I obviously preferred the drouhin griotte but faiveley ech was a real surprise. my bias would be for it to show less expressive, though the pronounced oak is par for the course.

2018 Dauvissat Family Chablis Tasting (Seattle): What a delicious bottle of Burgundy! The ripeness of the 2009 vintage is on full display here, in the lush, sweetly inviting Echezeaux. This is hedonistic for Echezeaux...maybe that has more to do with Faiveley style combined with the warm vintage, but what this bottle lacks in subtlety and mineral finesse, it more than make up in pleasure. Still fairly primary and should improve further, but if I had these in my cellar, it would be hard to keep my hands off of them. 95-96 points

Splendid fruit, quite generous but still elegant. Nice structure and detail, medium+ lenght. Ready but will improve with more detail over the coming 5-10 years.

Montréal Passion Vin. 70% fut neuf. Un joli nez floral, avec de petits fruits rouges. Bouche assez extraite, avec de la mâche. C’est agréable, mais davantage du calibre d'un premier cru. Il manque de fond pour un grand cru. 89 pts

La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Walk around tasting vertical. Ripe fresh and dried red cherry and berry with savory spice. Enticing aromas, then bigger and fleshier on palate that will merit a few more years in the back of the cellar. 92-93+ point potential.
