Oh my, from my cellar this doesn’t even closely resemble other notes. Rich, dense and powerful, this swept all beside tonight in an epic line-up. No fade in the glass and will be the focus for next wine dinners. Think Pegau meets Vosne with age and you’ll hit all the descriptors (no funk…). Highly recommended 95pts

An amazing opportunity to taste again an old Burg I thought had gone by. I had come to feel I'd just drunk all my case too young. Then one I'd given away came back for drinking. Colour - darker than the early bottles, though obvious browning to rim. Not much on nose, bits of earth and dark mushrooms. But lovely, really lovely, to taste. Dark black fruits, berry and cherry. Then blood, iron and fur. Old school. Great acidity and still quite tannnic on the finish. Which is long. Much greater depth. So, I was quite right to regret drinking my case too young. And if you have any, no rush.

Clear, garnet, fading to mahogany. Slightly sharp beetrooty, earthy nose. Slightly tannic, touch of sharpness. Lively though. Real earthy pinot. Dark fruits, mushrooms, earth. Probably would be better in a few years if the fruit holds up. Good length.

Wine-Pages Faiveley Offline (The Square, London): Double-decanted 3 hrs. Lovely nose, smells like Burgundy. Mid to full garnet. A touch of cabbage in with the sous-bois. Also a slight volatility on the nose, lifted. Light, quite delicate, slight meatiness but lacking depth, compelxity and a bit of oomph. **1/2

Domaine Faiveley Dinner (The Square, London): lighter rim on this one, seemed to be a middle weight wine, a bit foresty, still showing some warm red fruits, medium length, as a number of people said "a bit rustic and charmless"
