Ready to go. Not as rustic as I suspected. Nose was open for business almost immediately. Tannins are still there and did build some over an hour and an astringency (mild) also developed.

During a wine tasting dinner. Well, Faiveley wines before the new team took over in 2006 were rarely good and often suffer from rustic tannins. This was no exception. We opened it and were shocked how rustic and drying the tannins were. OK it is a 2005, a vintage that needs time but having cut my teeth in Bordeaux I know how to differentiate between young high quality tannins and those who never turn around. This wine was clearly in the later group. The dinner group decided not to drink it but leave the bottle to the host for cooking wine, that says it all.

Good not great. Certainly not as rustic as expectations would have suggested. No hurry to consume, but little wow either.
