  Bob’s cellar. A good looking ruby red, no bricking at all. Pnp, nose is a blast of barnyard funk, red acidity and ascending dark fruit, grip, unsmoked cigar leaf and very good depth. Taste is restrained at this early stage, supremely fine, there are no jagged edges here. It’s dark fruit balanced with a perfect acidity, tannins are just there without being obtrusive, it’s calm and collected and as the air opens up you can feel the depth beckoning you over to be involved. It’s very very good, undoubtedly excellent. Am going to allow this to breathe for a while before the next glass.
  Couple of hours later this has closed up. Still sublimely textured but redder acidity and flatter. Not to say still astounding quality still. Day 2, a glass with a Montecristo No2 on the terrace. Beautiful and taut, tannins are lacy and precise, red fruit is round and beautiful, ties in nicely with the cigar - brings out the forest floor and cigar box. Tremendous.

  20 minutes in the decanter and it was singing. A little bricking on the color, strong tears, the nose was all dark fruit with some minerality and faint cigar box. Palate was wonderful, cassis, sweet tannins, almost fully melted away. The bottle was in a perfect place to be opened. Paired with Parmesan crusted Venison chops and truffle potatoes. Put an end to dry January.

  Barnyard nose on opening. Opened up slowly. Decanted for 2,5 hours but never came to live. Remained flat and fruitless. No power left. Over the hill? Still enjoyable, but nothinh compared to other vintages I drank.
