Gorgeous wine. Cassis city! Bright red fruit and hugely aromatic. Tannin well integrated already. At the moment it’s not showing great complexity - but it’s such a joy that it doesn’t matter.

In the decanter 2-3 hours prior to drinking. Big wine, over extraction feel to it, however it does soften with time open. Garnet through, tertiary blackberry, plums, with nuisances of oak remaining. A food wine for me, it’s holding up well but it is that big Aussie style of yesteryear.

Glorious wine. Colour dark purple, beginning to brick at the rim. Very distinctive nose, strong notes of eucalyptus and damson which carry through to the medium to full bodied palate, savoury, becoming almost medicinal. Blueberries, brambles, tar. Long. A big wine but perfectly balanced. *****

A: deep garnet with bricking at rim N: meaty, leather, savory spices, tar, cooked tomato (not leaf), red and black plum, hints of cocao and sour cherry P: dry, med soft, smooth tannins, med (+) body, med (+) acidity, 14.5% ABV C: very good wine = balanced tertiary notes with soft tannins, still some fruit remaining on palate, high intensity, med concentration, high complexity, long finish on red, slightly sour, cherry. Drink now or hold for perhaps 5 years.

What a great wine. I’ve had issues in the past with this wine but this is a really great wine.
