I preferred the 1994 Grant Burge Meshach. This had structure, tertiary and great length with very elevated concentration. I would have preferred a little more acid and fruit, but at this age one can't complain. Really awesome that Henschke are doing these wonderful cellar releases for people to try their wines at all stages of the wines life.
Could go on further with ageing, but it would be unnecessary at this stage.
Cork was in good health too!

Fine Wines SG - "Who makes the best Syrah wine?" (Zoom): Pale garnet, browning fading edges. Pronounced ripe blackberry, cassis aromas, and a slight minty leafiness, as well as roses. Tannins seem resolved, while the intense fruit flavours of redcurrant and cassis permeates, ripe and somewhat candied, with a slight minty chill, and roast beef. Tea-like towards the back and finish, pretty long. Great!

I just threw this into a closet 25 years ago and forgot about it. Cork in fine condition with heavy sediment in the neck. An easy decant. Nose of dark fruit and plum with earthy Shiraz like notes. The mouthfeel is gentle and fruity with clarity and elegant tannins. A very nice wine which has aged superbly.

Last btl and time to drink. Deep color, a bit funky upon opening. Shiraz flavor I love. Drink to enjoy.
