I got a case of this a few years ago and remember it fondly so picked up another bottle, albeit at a much higher price now - about $137 after tax. This was quite comparable to others I've had. The richness and decadence of the '09 vintage shows. I never feel '09 is overrated, and this is a great example. There is some interesting limestone and kind of marzipan notes that I sometimes associate with the right bank. This is a nice treat, showing well.

Beautiful bouquet with oak and cedar, vanilla and a pleasant touch of sweetness. On the palate a firm dose of ripe dark berries as well as red betties, plums, blackberries, and slightly sticky tannin. Very beautiful wine in its young maturity stage. 93 – 94+

Needs ar least 4 hrs of air. Medium bodied. Wonderfully integrated flavors of baked dark cherries, baking spices, bitter chocolate, licorice, earth and a graphite like minerality. Layered texture cascades the flavors over your palate. Very nicely balanced as others have mentioned. Paired well with Beef Bourguignonne.
Will continue to develop for sure but wow its good now.

An Exploration of 2009 St. Emilions (plus a few bonuses) (Los Olivos, CA): Served blind. Rich, open nose showing loads of ripe red and blue fruit and a touch of soy. A polished and modern wine, with good grip. Came off as a flamboyant Merlot -- no sign of the Cab. Franc at this stage.

Earth, tobacco, dark plum, leather, very youthful still, developing and drinking well now. Lincoln after piano party.
