Flight 1 - Perrot-Minot Tasting (8 Notes)

Entirely consistent with when most of these same wines were tasted at the domaine in June.

  • 2014 Domaine Perrot-Minot Gevrey-Chambertin 86 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin

Tasting, brief note. Black cherry with smoked sausage notes and a slightly rugged texture. Very Gevrey character, slightly less finessed than I have grown to expect from Perrot-Minot, even at this level.

  • 2014 Domaine Perrot-Minot Morey St. Denis En la Rue de Vergy 89 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis

Tasting, brief note. Floral with bright red cherry and berry. Moderate weight and length, but nicely textured and finessed. Came across as MSD meets Chamblle-Musigny, in a wonderfully elegant package for Villages level wine.

  • 2014 Domaine Perrot-Minot Morey St. Denis 1er Cru La Riotte 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru

Tasting, brief note. More accessible vs when tasted at the domaine in a June. Meatier and denser vs the Vergy (Villages) just tasted, even if less texturally elegant. Black fruit with earth and good concentration. This comes across as MSD meets Gevrey. Hold to at least 2020.

  • 2014 Domaine Perrot-Minot Nuits St. Georges Les Murgers des Cras 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges

Tasting, brief note. Same wine as NSG VV tasted at the domaine in June. Red and black cherry with baking spice and the concentration you should expect from 1er Cru(which it is). Good balance already for a wine this young.

  • 2014 Domaine Perrot-Minot Charmes-Chambertin 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru

Tasted twice this evening. Red and black cherry with finesse and elegant textures, but nowhere near the concentration or power of Mazoyeres. I ever-so-slightly prefer this finesseful wine, but understand why most others disagreed.

  • 2014 Domaine Perrot-Minot Mazoyères-Chambertin 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru

Tasted twice tonight over several hours. All black fruit coming across as very dense, meaty and powerful in a classically Gevrey package. This needs a decade in the cellar to develop some nuance. I prefer the Charmes right now, but expect this Mazoyeres will/might be better 2025 forward.

  • 2014 Domaine Perrot-Minot Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru La Richemone Vignes Centenaires 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru

Tasted several times tonight over 4 hours. Black and red cherry with baking spice. Powerful to start but slightly backward, this became longer and more powerful with a few hours in a decanter. Very fun, even if not incredibly nuanced. Cellar at least 5 more years.

  • 2014 Domaine Perrot-Minot Chambertin-Clos de Bèze 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru

Tasted several times through the evening, including alongside the 03,06,07 vintages. All black fruit with excellent concentration and balance. Spice hints on nose, more pronounced on the palate. Already very good, lots of upside 2025 forward. Consistent with when tasted a the domaine this summer.

  • 2003 Domaine Perrot-Minot Mazoyères-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru

Open 45 minutes before serving. Served alongside 2003 Charmes-Chambertin. Black and blue berries are ripe but balanced with dark chocolate, vanilla and baking spice. Perhaps slightly better than another bottle from a few weeks ago. Aging well. Better than the Charmes.

  • 2003 Domaine Perrot-Minot Charmes-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru

Open 45 minutes before serving alongside the Mazoyeres-Chambertin. Ripe black and red cherry with moderate spice. Less meaty or powerful vs Mazoyeres, but more elegant textures. Moderate weight and length. Very good now. I preferred the Mazoyeres, as did most others tonight.
