Dinner at Nude (Nude, MBFC, Singapore): Third time with this bottle. The last two were back in 2012. I really liked it back then, but this somehow was rather anonymous. It was clearly a Chardonnay, but it could have come from anywhere. Neutral white fruited notes and a lite citrus on the nose were met with neutral white fruit notes and a little citrus on the palate. Pleasant balance and good depth for a Bourgogne was a credit to the wine, otherwise there was nothing that stood out. Time to drink up.

By the glass at RPM Steak. The list said "Leroy" and I was too distracted to ask whether it was the Domaine or Maison bottling (oops). I'm gonna go ahead and assume it was the Maison. Moderately advanced golden colour. The nose is mostly dominated by ripe stone fruit aromas. The palate has the same ripe fruit character, but it's tempered by a moderate dose of minerality and lively yellow-toned acids (think golden apples). Excellent and approachable now.

Stunning savoury mineral oaky and buttery flavours but still honeyed and with an incredible long finish and still robust enough to cope with food. This is amazing wine for the money. Aged white burgundy in my price range! However, it did die in the glass slightly after half an hour or so showing its age therefore drink up and drink quickly...

Aromas of citrus fruits, honey, mushrooms, and wet earth; flavors of citrus fruits, licorice, lemon zest, and whipped cream; long finish mirroring the palate plus some mild spices; overall, 90-91 points for now; drinkable at this stage yet still rather tight on the palate for a chardonnay at this age; will try the next bottle in a couple of years.

JM's Old World Education (Pine Close): Second time I have had this blind, and second time it has wowed me. This is easily one of the best Bourgogne blancs I have come across. It nose almost like a matured Meursault, with lovely scents of cream and beeswax, ripe apples and honey, with a generous sprinkle of spicy nutmeg at the fringes of the bouquet. It was lovely on the palate as well, with delicious flavours of ripe apple and melons, all glowing with a natural sweetness and juicy acidity. Nice finish too, with a lovely line of mineral and a touch of white flowers sprinkled amongst the fruit. This was a very pretty wine, very elegant, with beautiful balance and a nice linear focus to it. A solid wine. Drinking nicely now, but will easily hold over the next few years.

A&F's Post-Confinement Party (Asia Grand, Odeon Towers): This was such a brilliant Bourgogne - it punched several notches above its class. the nose was rather serious, a bit tight when I first got to it, perhaps because it was served to cold. However, it slowly opened up into nice notes of mushrooms and cream, some wet earth, then chalk and smokey mineral, and finally a bit of vanilla creme alongside fleshy white fruited tones. Rather Meursault like really. While the nose was pleasant, the palate was quite beautiful. It had a creamy fleshiness to it that belied its status, along with delicious flavours of white peach and nectrarine, some apple and a little crown of white flowers, all this underscored by a stony, chalky earthiness that drove into mineral-laden finish. Rich, fleshy, yet nicely balanced and beautifully minerally. I thought it may have been a Chablis at some point. Nice little suggestions of savoury white meat marched out to take their place amidst the fruit as the wine warmed up in the glass as well. Quite a wonderful Bourgogne, drinking quite at peak too. I was very taken by this.

Still drinking well after 14 years. I'm sad it's my last bottle. Clear gold color, with deep intensity. Clean, medium intensity on the nose. Aroma characteristics include crushed stone and minerality, like a flinty Chablis, plus stone fruit and yeasty notes. This must have been aged on the lees. On the palate, medium acid, little or no tannin, medium body. Flavor characteristics match the nose, but a bit astringent on the finish. Good length. Good example of a gracefully aged white Burg.

Flavors are subtle. Good mouthfeel. Still has some life left in it, but is on its way downhill. Like so many Leroys I've had over the last few years, the cork was moldy and soaked through. I can't understand why a house with such a strong reputation has this problem.

Lovely wine. Drink now. With significant bottle age, this wine has softened dramatically around the edges. Lovely nose, with notes of citrus zest, virtually no oak. On the palate, delicate and highly approachable. Some minerality. A word of warning: this wine is easily overwhelmed by strong food pairings. Salmon/crab rolls imparted a fishy flavor to the wine. Pesto gnocchi, by contrast, paired beautifully. This wine is a lovely experience by itself, but it doesn't pair with everything. If you have some, drink up. No reason to wait.

Showing no signs of age-yellow and brilliant. Wonderful complex white Burgundy bouquet from a much better appellation than Bourgogne. Nutty, butterscotch, complex and seductive. Great silky entry, long finish, great polish and style. What a wine for 12 years old. A very fine wine.

Served at around 50F, which I think is the right temp for this kind of Burg (don't let it get too cold). Popped and poured a gorgeous pure straw color. Nose of wax, stones, and a hint of some kind of sweet nuttiness in the background (cashew?). Palate shows some really nice terroir with all kinds of mineral/river rock character, some lemon oil, with the fruit notes alternating between something I'll call for lack of better word 'singed green apple skin' and the same white peach note as before. Finish of medium length showing predominately mineral, and elegance in spades. This was a nice integrated wine but from these notes what, one might ask, makes it worth $27? But what this wine lacks in charisma or sex appeal it makes up for with elegance, balance, and poise, all of which it has in spades. Well done to Mme. Leroy, I'm sorry to see this wine go.

White Burgundy (Waterford Wines Milwaukee): Last year, Ben thought this wine was dead, but is now reconsidering. the first notes off the nose are savory ones, Palermo's cheese pizza straight out of the oven. Musty saurkraut and quite a lactic quality on the nose. a decided note of (cheddar) cheese on the palate, but really the palate shows a much more deft display of minerality, with light spice on the finish accented with oxidation showing ever so slightly. Texturally there is a hint of it's age shown in a light wax textural note. Medium acid.

Pale yellow-green. Tea, some mineral and citrus fruit on the nose. Mid-light bodied, austere, with faint fruit and high acidity. Fairly long finish. Holding nicely for a generic Bourgogne of this age.

Brilliant yellow in the glass. Nose was incredibly bright and fresh. I was getting waxy lemon notes. After it was open a bit, it took on some crazy salinity. Refreshing on the palate. Really bright, candied, waxy lemon flavors. The salinity showed on the finish. The bottle didn't last long enough to see how it really developed, but it was delicious. This is the fourth bottle of this wine I've had in the last nine months, and this one is by far the best. An incredible amount of bottle variation with the Leroy wines.

VLG - ClayFu In The House (The Vineyard Lunch Gang): I have this as Maison Leroy in CT ... I'll check the bottle when I get home ... as I never looked at it or maybe someone here knows if there was a Domain Bourgogne Blanc This was decent. Now where near the 99. I think its best years are behind it. I took some home and had another glass and it was losing complexity. Still it is nice to see how an 11 year old Bourgogne holds up. Actually the wine should hold up for a long time as the fruit is there but I just not sure it will be that interesting.

Value is probably not to bad at $33 from auction. Bottle was in great nick ex. the mouldy cork but I have come to expect that of Leroy wines. To my taste a classic dry white wine (almost old fashion) and very well built at that. In no way looks 12 years old, rather 3 or 4 with a mild lemon hue. Nose shows minerals, gun flint, smoke / burnt match and maybe some bitter fruits. Palate is subtle, at least initially, but does pick up pace. More minerals, some spice and stone. Finishes with bitter smokey note. Probably not as good as the 1999 but very handy all the same.

A really bright gold color. I got ripe pineapple on the nose. Just a hint of grass. I got bright lemon on the mouth. Clean minerality. A bit waxy on the finish. Fairly rich mouthfeel. Interestingly enough, I had this same wine last night from someone else's collection, and I didn't identify it as the same wine. I know the two bottles came from the same shipment to Wisconsin and they were purchased at the same store. Bottle variation? Kind of nuts.

Interesting when tasted next to Chablis. Does not have the acidity and chalkiness. A more creamy wine. I believe the age is giving it a metallic note on both the nose and palate. Does not taste young, but still is very vibrant, with a marmalade-like, mature citrus.

Carmalized onion and butter to me, although some say citrusy, oniony. Just open. Christophe has the feeling that as it opens up it will become rounder and fuller. Vibrant and alive with acidity. Fantasic as an apertif because it makes you want to roll to other things. The feeling is it will go another 3 to 5 years. Wonderful now.

Crystaline, pure, like water. Smells like coral reef to me. Pure and maximum flavor on the palate. Intense. Body without strength on the palate. A very subtle wine. Worth its price (which varies wildly these days because of how Leroy releases its wines. be wary of gray market!).

Clear, medium acidity. Toasty, mineral, yeast on the nose. Spicy on the palate. Medium to short finish. As it is still in very good condition at this age, personally I suggest it is downgraded from a higher grade AOC by Leroy.

Fill level to neck, despite significant seepage. First taste was the best, with yeasty, toasty notes along with exotic fruits, lime, and graham cracker. Faded pretty quickly however, with the yeasty, toasty notes persisting along with modest melon and citrus character. All in all, a cost-effective way to enjoy older burgundy; whets my appetite for finer examples.

Winestreet Does Leroy (WA Frost, St. Paul): Nice zesty citrus fruit. Good acidity. Light- to medium-bodied, with a mature flavor profile. Added some weight and complexity in the glass. Reminded me of a St. Aubin. A good Bourgogne blanc.

Winestreet Tastes an Abundance of Leroy: A nice way to kick off the evening. The nose stared out mild, but with air (and warming) opened to reveal a simple but enjoyable blend of orange, lemon, and honey. The taste was nice, and definitely wasn't lacking in acidity. This probably would have paired better with some food than being served on its own. Flavors of honey/butterscotch dominate fruit and mineral. The finish is long and zingy from the acidity. Good for what it is.

Perhaps the single best $20 bottle of wine I have had. Brought to dinner at Tilth last night--the waittress couldn't believe the label. After chatting about wine, DRC and Leroy, I offered and poured her a glass. The wine was perfect pitch with the food. Good acidity, balanced fruit and enough viscosity and stuffing to not fade in the mouth. We dined on beef carpacio, onion soup, corn souffle and chocolate cake. I cannot recommend Tilth enough--the food and service is top flight.

loads of wet river stone, apples maybe chasing you down the bank of a river, then the breadiness of chard. Enjoyable but worth $28? It's it from 97 so it may be worth the money to try well made aged chardonnay, and this has aged nicely.

Initially the nose was a bit oaky for my taste, but this attenuated with 30 minutes in the decanter. A very nice wine, with lemon/lime, floral notes and some toast on the nose. Midweight on the palate with some lemon zest, finishing surprisingly long with toasted hazelnut. A very good accompaniment to linguine alle vongole. The wine continued to improve with additional aeration, and just under half a bottle left over was even better the next day. I believe well-stored bottles can easily go several more years. A great value for $18.

A solid wine for a great summer eve. Blue skies, low 70's no humidity and fresh crabcakes and a mixed green salad. The wine was a fine choice for the food. A mix of lemon and a smooth oily finish that melded with the salad and crab--I could drink this every week--and at $20 per bottle it is a great value.
Cheers!

Opened nicely with a good acidic bite, pear butter and soft finish. Nice balance, light and clean. Very good with scallops. Half-hour or so into, began a decline where acid dominated and fruit left. A good value off the wine list @ 'M.'

At first this was unpleasantly tart and acidic, but a little aeration improved matters greatly. The wine was light and elegant rather than powerful or rich, but it did offer up some nice flavors of spiced pear and buttered toast. I really enjoyed it a lot - only the lack of any secondary complexity kept the score down. But for $20, wow, what a deal, especially when you look at all the second-rate $40 California Chardonnays.

Beautiful yellow gold color. Strong acid on the front, nice understated buttery finish. Great mineral on nose and palate. Just exactly what a Burg white should be. A major bargain at the generic Bourgogne level.

This was decent.

Nice medium straw color, interesting nose of lemon oil, some smoke, very slight vegetal notes and gravel. Nice entry of citrus fruit, decent mid palate with healthy mineral streak going through it and lively acidity. Overall a decent aged bourgogne blanc.

It's it from 97 so it may be worth the money to try well made aged chardonnay,
and this has aged nicely.

Cheers!
