Our last bottle and one of the best examples. Deep straw yellow color, clearly has some age but this didn’t quite quite as dark as previous bottles. We caught this bottle at peak. Opens with tropical fruit- banana and coconut- to go along with fig, pear and nectarine. The tropical fruit tones follow through on the palate, with a good bit of oaky vanillin and toasted marshmallow. Excellent length.

Deep color. Apple and brown butter qualities, this is a touch more advanced than I would typically care for. Pear and lemon curd notes with air. 88-89 pts.

Deep gold color. Small glass, from magnum. Brief note; vivid and mature, oily, pear cream, lemon oil, vanilla custard, rich and full bodied, honeyed, layered and well aged and in good shape from mag, complex and alluring.

Wine Group Picnic at Steve's: PnP from Mag - My first Peter Michael Chardonnay, and different from my expectations. I expected it would be a big, rich, buttery oaky chardonnay, and it was far from it. Not a good or bad thing, just different! The nose was dominated by white flowers and some lemon notes. This wine was well integrated with lots of citrus and pear notes, and showed quite a bit of minerality. A very nice wine, and worthy of its reputation! 93+ for my palate.

this bottle was getting the darkening color and sherry notes that signify excess age. Would not be fair to score, but if forced I would go 86 based on what it is in this glass.

This particular bottle was all about the butter and oak on this night. I've moved away from this profile of late. Still excellent wine - it just wasn't in my wheelhouse on this night.

PNP and served outright at about 52 degrees. At this temperature the wine had little aroma, muted taste, and a steely minerality. Let the wine sit and come up about 5-6 degrees and the transformation took hold. A heady bouquet of honeysuckle, citrus fruits, quince, and white flowers. The richness of the palate was accented by crushed ginger, vanilla bean, pineapple, and spiced honey. Medium finish. Deft use of oak that was probably well integrated at this point. Probably would have preferred some more pronounced minerality and/or salinity to balance the rich and somewhat sweet flavors. Paired with an apple and walnut salad with micro greens and a shrimp oreganato dish. This wine is ready for consumption now.

Rich, round and sweet. Not much nose but nice mix of lemon and vanilla flavors. Bright yellow with thick legs. It lingers a bit on the tongue more from its viscosity than any persistent flavor. Sweet.
Opened at a Valentines party. It went quickest of any bottle in part due to the WS rating of 97. Great with the crab cakes but too sweet for the raspberry truffles or carrot cake. A well made wine but did I mention too sweet?

Tuesday Night Double Blind $60+ (Bin 75): Bright yellow green; yellow fruit, lemon, mineral?, butter, vanilla, struck match, butterscotch; fat and rich on the palate, caramel, butter, softer than nose suggests, pear and apple, round and voluptuous; was one of the few in CA as other expected this to be Burg, I went with '09 Mount Eden but felt that was being generous.

I had this wine with lobster on new years eve, what a paring. Rich and complex, went perfectly with the lobster. Butterscotch flavors come on strong with wonderful balance and lush mouth-feel. Great Cali Chard that should evolve for a few years.

Clearly a Cali Chard, while sometimes PM whites are more Burgundian. A bit of buttery, just enough, and oak again just enough, turning Amber gold, rich, love the feel in on my tongue and palate, makes you want to keep lifting the glass, goes on and on, complex, singing.

Deep color with notes of coconut, banana, apple and vanilla. Toasted coconut and vanilla flavors. On this night the oak was a little too obvious for my liking.

A beautiful wine from Sir Peter. Crisp, acid, mineral, welcomed by the palate, too many types of fruit to mention or honestly discern, and again, the reason to get on the allocation list is to get the Chards, which doesn't diminish the excellent but expensive Les Pavots. Just getting harder and harder to look at $200 for a CS and say yes, no matter how good.

Cloudy yellow. Nose was all"tertiary"-for Chards to me this means vanilla, clove, winter spices. Not a hint of fruit. Taste is smooth, clove, and a hint of bitterness on the finish. Definitely different than the previous bottle tasted, Variation?

Popped & poured at M/M tlv's home following dinner. Pale color with notes of Marshmallow Fluff, apple and coconut. Flavors of marshmallow, coconut, citrus and apple. Long finish with a nice toasty edge. Drink from 2015+.

Cloudy yellow. Nose was as smooth and integrated as I can recall for a Ma Belle-Fille. Nose of vanilla, orange, pear. Taste was as the nose, mouthfilling, nothing stood out as prominent or out of whack. Best I've had from this designation.

Great wine! Buttered popcorn and minerals on the nose - a little closed, but still very nice. I lose the minerals a little on the palate, but lots of sharp citrus with medium acidity. Thought there might be some ginger or spice at the finish. (5+13+17+8)

California Wine Country with Jill for our 30th's; 9/9/2012-9/15/2012 (California): Private tour and tasting at Peter Michael Winery. Bigger and richer than the Carriere from a higher elevated vineyard. Buttered popcorn, minerals, yellow apples and pear. So big and layered but still great restraint and acidity overall. Nuts and caramel along with some pleasant baking spice that leaves an excellent mouth feel on the back end. Really well made.
