Note: 92

Red apples, caramel and honey on the nose. I thought it was a little on the high side with the acidity. Perhaps it would have been better with food? Good wine nevertheless.

Champagne by Joe (Tracy's garden): Consistent with previous notes. This is my favorite domestic sparkler. This wine seemed quite acidic and lemony, with some beeswax and pear.

Champagne by Joe (Tracy's, Mpls): Light gold color. Drank a 2 oz pour over 20 minutes. This showed nicely, as good or a bit better than the last time we had it a year ago. The nose has a nice yeastiness to it with apple, lemon cream, citrus and hints of sea air. The fairly sleek palate shows lemon, lemon cream, apple, and a brightness that enhances everything. Very good. 91+pts.

I think this has improved from my bottle two years ago. Denser, nuttier, and more complex. Apples and toast and a Leesy quality. Once again, the bubbles are not quite as prominent as one might expect. But it's probably one of the best domestic sparklers I've had. One more bottle. Hope to check back in in 2 years.

I consumed a bottle over the course of an evening. This one seemed to have more acidity. Freshly opened, the acidity was a bit too strong. It mellowed out considerably into a more citrusy champagne. And no, it is not champagne, but it tastes just like champagne. The complexity here is great for this price point. I'm really curious about how these age.

Opened this on the eve of P's departure for Marseiile. Didn't take any notes, but it was terrific. The extra time in the bottle allowed it to develop, and it was deep and complex.

Champagne and Sparklers (Tracy's, Mpls): Pale gold color. 2oz pour over 20 minutes. A lovely young L'Hermitage this is only going to get better. Youthful and fresh with plenty of pear, apple, and lively sea air on the nose, the palate is light, primary, pear, lemon, and long on the finish. Very good. 91(+)pts.

In my opinion, this is just starting it's drinking window - it is quite youthful righ now. Opens up nicely after 15 minutes in the glass. Definite champagne style. Slight yeast, toast, pear, minerality, acidity. I'm hoping this will improve further in a couple years.

Light yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout with tiny, steady beading. Nose of sea foam, light notes of citrus and a hint of graham cracker. Flavors of lemon, cherries and minerals. Bright acidity, full bodied. Drink or hold.

Clear, medium (+) lemon in color, with moderately fine, numerous and persistent perlage. Aromas of apple, lemon, toast. Alcohol is 12%. Very clean and balanced, with nice complexity and depth. It still seems quite youthful and fresh despite the ten years of age. Drink now or hold.

Heitz, Heitz, Heitz and Heitz: Light in color. As always a pleasure to drink and a top sparkling wine on par with any Champagnes in the same price range. The style is very unique, it is quite a full bodied wine but at the same very elegant.

Great nose of chardonnay with plenty of toast. Excellent mousse, and somewhat standard flavor profile (green apple, lemon peel, brioche), but with striking purity and intensity. Holding its balance well. Recommended

Really great value - nice to know you can get well-made wine with 10 years of age for $40. Feels pinot heavy on the nose, but there's a lot of cut and acidity. Very nice wine. The only issue is it's very bubbly - makes it a little hard to drink.
Edit: day two this was really on point. Bubbles calmed down and the secondary notes came out a little more. Great finish.

Very pale in color. Nose of Key limes, brioche, Granny Smith apples and orange zest. Very elegant, balanced and long. Flavors of chocolate and acacia honey, rich fruit and smooth acidity. Had in a hotel room overlooking healdsburg square. It has a nice nose more of chard than pinot. It had a slight bit of toast n yeast but it works. The bead is very pretty but not mind blowing. A distinctive and pleasing nose of grapefruit, asphalt, green apples, and soft creamy yeast, not usually found in California sparklers. Very chardonnay. Still, once you taste it no one would mistake this for champagne. An invigorating citrus edge that is sharp as a razor drops off to a somewhat puffy unengaging mid palate. But the green citrus aftertaste lingers and lingers. This is a very nice wine, perhaps even a sort of benchmark for California. But wine of the year? Gimme a break. The NV Roederer Brut Premier (French) is a superior wine in every way.
