Dusty, dried herbs. Nice medium acidity and fine tannins that supports the cooked cherries and blackberries on the palate. Well integrated and in peak drinking window. Just lacks some depth and pizazz to push into the 90 point range.

Bright red cherry fruit - prominent and exuberant. A little kirsch. Dried herbs in the background. An opulent style Sangiovese-based Super Tuscan. Plush and smooth. Just enough acidity to keep this from becoming flabby. Good value.

Great value! At a time when Tuscan blends ( this is Sangiovese with a touch of merlot) are getting to silly prices this shows all of richness of the style without losing the balance and freshness that Tuscany can produce, for a v reasonable price. Deep garnet in the glass, warm inviting nose with hint of mocha. Lovely rich flavour with balancing acidity and enough tannin to avoid any cloying sensation. Agree it is unlikely to improve but also doubt it will fall apart.

Fully mature. Complex aromatics and flavors, tending toward tertiary notes: tomato leaf, stale tobacco, stewed plums, cooked cherries, powered cocoa, dried mixed herbs, and ground allspice. Still shows structure with tannin, but acidity starting to tail off. Drink now, unlikely to improve with further cellaring; this was my last of six bottles purchased in 2013, personally, I would drink within the next year

Had a brief taste of this last night. As usual, there was nothing wrong with this medium bodied wine, but nothing really stood out either. A blend of red and black fruits with a smooth texture. It's a consistent wine, but not an outstanding super Tuscan, IMO (B+).

Better than the previous bottle I had earlier this year. This has very nice lively acidity, some dryness on the finish, lovely inviting red fruit. Everything is in the right place really. Medium-bodied. Drinking fine right now. More of a food wine really.

Hard to believe there is only 10% merlot here. The nose is sour cherry, belying the depth of rich plum and blueberry fruit on the palate. Great interplay of left bank richness with a lingering tuscan barnyard leather edge. Fun, savory blend with the stuffing to keep getting softer.

A bit tannic on opening, but 30 minutes in a decanter and it was much less so. Lots of fruit, medium finish. Enjoyable Tuscan wine if you don't demand too much of it.

Magnum. Decanted; no sediment. Deep, but clear, garnet color. Fairly muted nose of dark fruit. Medium bodied sour cherries on the palate with ample acids. Tannins appear to be resolved. Lengthy finish. It's an OK wine, but I was expecting more. Probably will not improve with more age, but should be OK for another 3-4 years.

Dark red in the glass. We decanted ~20 minutes but it didn't come alive until 60 minutes. Sour cherries, tobacco, and mushrooms. My wife picked the last one out. Nice wine, good QPR.

Not getting as much of the cherry that a few others noted. Definitely some on the nose, which is intense. But the flavor profile is more smoky and spicy than fruit. Some dried cherries though and maybe some plum (??)

Decanted around 4 pm and drunk over the next 4 hours. The color is saturated medium to dark blackish garnet. The nose has spicy dark fruit, violets, and some smoke. Slightly hot on the palate with some noticeable alcohol along with Cherry and floral notes. Fairly rich mouth feel. Finish is a little short, but this Sangiovese/merlot blend has a good QPR.

Solid Toscana with all the requisite earthy notes, firm backbone, enticing fruit. Made to be enjoyed with food. First discovered this wine while working in Toronto, where it was widely available at the LCBO. Fine place, that LCBO on King Street. Dropped a lot of coin there.

Nice tuscan. Good color, lotsa oak initially with spice notes on the palate, nose is definite oak and black fruit but tannins very smooth. More Merlot like than the Sangiovese. Mid palate is there but one dimensional with finish nothing to speak about. Good weekday drinker as you can usually find it for less than retail on the auction sites. Got a case of this for under $200 with buyer premium.

Better than the 2010, which I didnt care for. The 2011 just started to open up. This super Tuscan Style wine has soft tannin's with medium-long finish with no depth, was pleasant enough with veal with mushrooms, but if it doesn't develop better in a year there are better Tuscan wines at this price point.

My 3d bottle of this wine. My bottles of this wine have been darker-fruited and less acidic and grippy than I expected. Not a bad wine, just not one to grab when you are in a more traditional Tuscan red fruit/leather/rustic sort of mood.

Ruby/garnet colour with intense red ripe fruits and sweet spices on the nose. Hints of oak and tobacco are noticeable right away but becoming more obvious after oxidation occurs. On the palate is quite acidic and dry with notes of blackcurrant and wild cherries. Tannins are quite harsh indicating that this wine can be aged. I'll give this one a 90points just because it has potential. It can be enjoyed now but I recommend store it for another 5-7 years. I had it with t-bone stake and sides. Cheers!

Popped and poured, however needed a decanting. Paired with a sirloin steak. At first, very fruity with a blackberry bitter sweet nose. After an hour, the oak started to come out with a less fruity nose, more fig and smoke. Very nice wine now with great potential for age. Could easily sit in the cellar for another 5-6 years.

Crimson color with magenta rim. Rich, fruity nose of ripe blueberries, herbs and slate. On the palate this is immature, with bright primary fruit flavors giving way to tight, dry tannins and a short, green finish, with a piquant stone aftertaste lingering at the back of the throat. At the tender age of three this is showing some potential, but the mouthfeel is young and relatively dumb. I'd be inclined to give this three years to develop some tertiary nuances, keeping an open mind in the meantime.
Decanted for 2-3 hours and this was perfect. Lovely Sangiovese fruit with 10% Merlot. Nice balance and finesse with beautiful fruit and a smooth finish. This is still young but could be enjoyed now with a healthy decant. Will be better in 3+ years. This is a great deal at under $30.

Dark red. Nose is cherry, cherry candy and spice. Medium body, heat and tannin. Certainly concentrated and attractive fruit, even pretty fruit. Good acid. Best with food, today. Drinking best 5 to 10 years from vintage. Next day the oak and vanilla are more apparent in nose and palate.

Super-ripe fruit, and a touch of sweetness (from the 10% Merlot in the mix?). Suckling said 95 points!?! Someone must've hacked his account and put that in as a joke...cos this is certainly a very nice wine, but not in the lofty realm of 95. Nice QPR!

Tenuta Sette Ponti Wine Tasting and Seminar (Specs Austin, TX (Brodie Lane)): Tasting event with winery owner. Very good, consistent with prior notes. The 2011 Sangiovese was a great vintage according to property owner. Comprised predominantly of Sangiovese with small amounts of Merlot. High acidity and great finish.

Super-ripe fruit, and a touch of sweetness that I'm not used to in Tuscan Sangioveses (maybe that's from the 10% Merlot in the mix?). Next time, I'll decant to see if that helps... Suckling said 95 points!?! What was he smoking?

The addition of the 10% Merlot to the Sangiovese softens the wine, adds some smokey notes, creaminess, and a touch of sweetness lacking in a wine comprised of 100% Sangiovese. A solid wine, always reflecting a consistent house style. Has yet to disappoint over a number of vintages

James Suckling/Zachy's Super Tuscany Tasting (City Winery (Varick Street in NYC)): 100% sangiovese. A bit of alcohol on the start. Fruity, ends with an almost caramel flavor that I saw/liked in some of the other wines. It almost reminded me of a sweet tea but without the overt sweetness. Had that combination of natural earthy flavors.
Nice mouth-feel, balanced acidity with black cherry / blackberry pie.
Was surprised to find that I had 4 bottles of this in the cellar. At ~$27, not exactly a great QPR at this moment. Wish I had put some of that money towards the Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno

Medium bodied, dark crimson color. Bright cherry, spicy plum, creamy vanilla, and some slight earthiness. Tangy acidity with integrated tannins and a medium long tart finish.Great food wine. Solid from year to year. Not in the same class as Oreno but pretty good for the price.

The initial swath of sour cherry gives way to old leather, then cranberry; during the end you get plum and tobacco leaf. More sappy than previous vintages, however, she is still as enchanting. Full and velvety tannins. Always a welcome value. Drink 2015 - 2023.

Decanted for 1.5 hours and served with a seared/roasted rosemary pork loin and vegetables The wine balanced the meal well and definitely was heavy in the fruit just like Suckling stated. Not a 95 as JS rated it but I'll lay down a couple for another year and see if they get better.

I really liked the aromatic--potpourri, dried flower...real cool. Where I diverge on liking the wine is on the fruit, which was too ripe in tone for me. Blueberry and darker fruits. Weight wasn't too heavy but the delicacy of the wine seemed disturbed for me by the ripneness.

Big, dark and ripe. Tending to be a fruit bomb but it does rely on heavily toasted oak for flavor and it is nicely balanced and very smooth. The blend is supposely 90% Sangiovese, but it tastes like there is more Cabernet than Sangiovese.

Sweet red fruit. Hard to believe that this is 90% Sangiovese. Balance is very heavy towards fruit. Not sure if this will ever balance. It was almost like a Tuscan fruit bomb. Finish was bitter and acidic. This was not for me.

My 3d bottle of this wine. My bottles of this wine have been darker-fruited and less acidic and grippy than I expected. Not a bad wine, just not one to grab when you are in a more traditional Tuscan red fruit/leather/rustic sort of mood.

Opened this to accompany Sunday night pasta, but it was all gone before dinner started. It went nicely with the Italian Grand Prix though.

Starting to round out. The acidity is calming down, more fruit is coming through. Cherry, tobacco, and a mineral aspect that integrates well.

Dense dark red. Herbs and barnyard nose. Well structured with lots of dense fruit nicely balanced with long acidity and some tannin. Good now but should improve.

Medium dry and earthy on the palate.
Nice mouth-feel, balanced acidity with black cherry / blackberry pie.

Big, dark and ripe. Tending to be a fruit bomb but it does rely on heavily toasted oak for flavor and it is nicely balanced and very smooth. The blend is supposely 90% Sangiovese, but it tastes like there is more Cabernet than Sangiovese.
