Light to medium lemon yellow color. Fragrant, floral nose with ever so slight oxidation evident along with citrus and wet stones. Palate has medium+ acidity with a chewy texture, nice unctuous mouth feel, with light grapefruit and a saline finish that is a bit short. This needs some air and after 30+ minutes it gets a good deal richer and rounder. Great food wine that was excellent with both a crab and mushroom crepe and a pan seared skate wing with brown butter and capers. This was quite good but slightly disappointing given the producer's reputation and cost. Much more satisfying with the food than without.

I was very much looking forward to this rare wine and generally found that it underwhelmed. Displays a surprisingly light/medium yellow color (extremely light for 14 year white, even accounting for Sauv Blanc) which was not a great first sign. The complexity on the nose was pretty good, some lemon peel, rosemary, fresh flowers. In the mouth, acidity was still fairly high - not a bad thing - but it didn't have the fruit structure to back it up. Not sure that age will help despite the reputation of the wine as being cellar worthy. Stood up to a nice fish, so good decent body, but outside of the name, I would not say that this is a "special" bottle of wine. Pleasant, drinkable, but don't need to rush and buy more.

It still has a bit of the youthful green fruit Sauv blanc flavors melding with mature straw, hay, and rainwater flavors and aromas. Lots of life left as well, it still has the power and prickly tartness as you would expect. Lot's of dry extract as you would get from some young Mosel rieslings - there's a noticeable phenolic bitter edge to the fruit that I didn't find very appealing. I don't love it or hate it.

Final bottle drinking nicely. Must say that, after drinking different producers from Sancerre that do not have as much exposure, there are more interesting (and certainly less expensive) options. Great wine.

An evening through the Loire valley (Imperial Treasure SPD, Paragon): Wow! A few whirls and a few sniffs and one could easily fall in love with this. Served blind beside the 05 Silex, this completely overshadowed it. Scents of white-flowers and herbs, it had that "air" of elegance. So good on the palate - full of verve, tension, minerality and freshness, with a good length to boot too! This is really one of the top expressions of Sauvignon Blanc! My 2nd-favourite wine (by a whisker, as opposed to the 3rd) of the evening...

Sauvignon Blanc tasting (Riga): Light with green hues. Some mild spices, bay leaves, broth on the nose. Saturated, full taste, some citrus, lemon rind, flowery orange, grapefruit, smoky melon, saltiness on the nose and palate, very well balanced. Very difficult to describe, words don't do justice to this wine, it was superbly nuanced, ethereal, elegant. The nose was to die for, I didn't expect a SB to be that good. On that night this was may be even better than Silex. (A)

Very pale yellow, straw color. What surprised me is how viscous and hefty this SB was. Not very grassy, loads of ripe grapefruit and citrus, extremely concentrated with great acidity. A true, pure expression of natural SB, with nothing added and the wine is just a killer. Too bad it's so expensive. This guy was a true artiste!

Bright, light colour, very clear. Nose is a combination of primary acidic and mineral notes: gooseberry, lemon and gunflint and added are secondary exotic, ripe fruits: mango, papaya. Very restraint and refined. Medium alcohol, high acidity, bitter, medium finish Overall an very well made wine

Served at about 15C. Popped and poured. The cork was perfect. Opens with a scent of oak infused papaya essence. Beneath this primary nose is a faint touch of kerosene (terpenes I mean) that mingles with lemon curd and jasmin blossom. Palate texture is very plush, like the proverbial velvet glove. The Fumé 's steely acidity keeps the wine fresh and vibrant. Very long finish, I was impressed by the length and grace as the wine glided on my palate. In a good place, and in no rush to drink this. Still 2 left.

Clear pale yellow core that still shines in its youth. Clean nose of bright gooseberry, mint, current leaf, candied lemon and a touch bit of cat pee. Dry moderate bodied palate with a strong acidic grip. Lively intensity and lush flavors of lime cordial, lemon verbena, white flowers. Gooseberry juice carries the wine through the long finish and mingles with traces of green apple and light minerality. I love this wine, it really sings and is so rich in flavor. Clear colour. Aromas of grass, gooseberry, lemon, lime, white flowers. Nice and crisp on the palate showing notes of citrus and plenty of minerality. Moderate-length finish, ~35s following through from the palate. Lovely, and a perfect pairing for most of the seafood we had at L2O.

Clear almost colourless pale yellow core of moderate intensity out to a wide watery rim - youthful. Clean nose of fresh air (sounds ridiculous, I know) with some citrus and grassy/mineral notes - really refreshing. On the palate the first thing noticed is the balance - it has the requisite acidity (moderate) but the acidity is extremely well balanced with the moderate body and alcohol. It's like having a sip of well water - minerally and totally refreshing - makes you want to take another sip. Mineral and citrus flavours with a long finish that continues to carry the mineral and citrus notes. Beautiful wine. For drinking now but will easily continue on for another 5 years - the best Pouilly-Fumé I've every had.
