Overall, decent. Classic nebbiolo in aroma and taste. Floral aromas with spice, tar, licorice and sour cherry on the palate. Definitely in acidic wine, but not too overpowering. Tannins are right where they should be. Are there better better barbarescos, of course. Nonetheless, this is definitely a crowd pleaser and great with food.

1 of 2, decanted and immediately served at c14C. Medium garnet core, pale garnet rim. Thus is fragrant, floral, red cherries, quite spicy - hint of ginger. Medium bodied, red cherry, spice, quite savoury too - soft tannins, fresh/vibrant acids, decent length finish with a burst of pure red fruit. This is very good indeed, and whilst it will certainly keep its very approachable now with no firm edges or sense of being tight or closed.

light color like other barbarescos. tasted young, and not ready to drink. The Ovello was smoother (2017). Consider cellaring? preferred the bruno Rocca which tasted sweeter. Purchased for 45 from Mission Wine & Spirits in Glendale.

Pale ruby. Medium - full bodied. High acidity. Classic nebbiolo flavour of cherries, strawberries, tar and licquorice. Delciously long finish but still very much in its youth.

Nice expression of Barbaresco. Quite floral nose, but with cherry, spice, and asphalt in there. Acidity and tannin are in balance despite the youth of the wine, though some of that could be because I decanted for 6 hours before serving. Maybe a bit overripe on the palate, but I’m nitpicking. Will surely improve over the next 5 years or so but I agree with others that this isn’t going to be the longest lived Produttori ever.

16/20 Reflets orangés, moyen/pâle. Nez suave. La bouche est agréable avec des notes de pepsi flat tout en nuance et en équilibre avec le fruit et le bois. Facture élégante avec une belle texture de velours qui plait. J’aime cépage… Le 15% passe plutôt bien….

Dark cherry on the nose that turns to raspberry in the mouth. Wood notes super present, chilled out a lot with decanting. Much better on day two, still lovely on day three. A perfect pizza wine if you have really good pizza. Also a good value.

On the ripe side of the style (fruity and hot), while also somewhat light (maybe even a touch thin)...a fairly strange combination.
Loud, red fruit and berry-driven perfume, with rhubarb, herbal teas, and rose hip accents. Alcohol shows through too.
Delicious throughout...if slightly disjointed. The ripeness and lightness, along with a fairly abrupt finish, do not seem to align. My best guess as to the cause is an admixture of ripe and underripe fruit...or, perhaps, young vine fruit.
Anyway, technically excellent...even with the listed 15 abv (yikes)...but generally not quite the equal of other vintages. I would not hold bottles beyond 2030-2033. 91-92.

You can't go wrong with the produttori wines it seems. This one was a unanimous favourite of 6 bottles on a tasting night (mostly Bordeaux). Brilliant nebbiolo with enough depth to be a crowd pleaser.

One of the "readiest" vintages, but Produttori are always a guarantee. You can sense that the fruit is plumper and riper, but the acidity and finesse have been preserved and serve to keep the wine balanced, with the tannins still a bit rough. I would recommend waiting at least another 3/4 years.

Fresh juicy cherry, strawberry candy, mocha, red roses, subtle cinnamon, mint, forest after the rain, sweet spices. High acidity, the tannins are high but feel quite smooth at such young age, possibly balanced by its 15% high alcohol and fresh seducing red fruits. Well made wine, consistent quality even in challenging vintage. The alcohol may be intimidating and definitely can feel the burn on the palate. However, it’s very drinkable at youth and can certain keep for quite a few years but may not last as long as 15,16 or 17.

Lovely floral and roses, tar and ripe strawberries. Refined but present tannins and a very mineral finish. A little edgy maybe but adds to the rusticity

My first time tasting a Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco, and certainly not my last. I decanted, and I let it breathe for several hours. I served it with a multi course dinner consisting of Italian Sausage, Hanger Steaks, and grilled Salmon. The color is ruby and the nose is very fragrant. There were multiple tasters at the table and they all liked the Barbaresco very much. I plan to purchase more bottles and put them away. Five years of cellaring should do it. Is it worth $43 a bottle? Si Signora!

Firm, but with a nice core of red fruits and a suppleness on the palate that balances. Has an interesting mint/eucalyptus note that is quite prominent. A little rough around the edges but should smooth out with time. Nice example this year.

Pairing it with grilled chicken. Deep purple color. Ash, red cherries, wet stones and an alcoholic waft on the nose - this is 15 degrees, wow. Med acidity, full body, high alcohol, med flavor intensity, light tannins, med finish. This feels unbalanced at this point in time, and not sure it is much better after an hour. Still nice red cherries, but a buttery alcoholic after taste puts me off, as I know this producer - of which I am a very good customer and fan - can do much better. So, my advice is decant and eat with some heavy and hearty food.

92 or better. This wine is young (but i knew that).
I consumed this wine young in order to evaluate it for a larger purchase destined for the cellar. As such it needed a fair amount of time in the decanter - i gave it 45 minutes before approaching it, 1:15 before most consumption (we had a nice Rose open) and close to 3 hours before it was gone. Its not bulletproof young, but its not ready either.
Moreover i think ideally this would stay int he cellar until 2025 at earliest, better yet 2027. It ought to last under good conditions, for a couple decades.
Consumed cool. Bottle suggests 58 deg F
This is pretty classic Barbaresco, which is to say, almost classic Barolo too. Great nose, full, expressive flavors, and yet a light body and color. Absolutely awesome with smoked prime hangar steak (cooked over wood/charcoal, slowly).
Cherries, rasp- and straw-berries, tar, forrest herbs, roses, ....
This is already a heady experience and delicious, but rough around the edges, and not yet giving up all its secrets and charms.
Beautiful wine, light red with some brick on the edges. Raspberry and red cherries along with some strawberry and some herbs. Some cedar as well and licorice. Very enjoyable, can't wait to try 2019 as it is a great vintage!

It was decanted in the morning despite the relatively approachable vintage. The colour is bright and pretty light with a garnet twist. In the nose there is leather, liquorice, flowers and a bunch of red berries: cranberries, sour cherry. Taste is typical nebbiolo - high tannin and acidity, very balanced and elegant, medium body. Paired with ribeye and mushroomsauce - superb. Will benifit from further ageing, but it works pretty well right now.

This was $37.99 at Costco, and worth it, though I drank a bit early, when it was still a little rustic. Given other bottles of this wine, only a year will reveal more than I saw, but even so it was a solid 89 at least.

Jumps out of the glass with cherries, raspberries, floral petal notes. Very sharp, good acidity and freshness with a hint of ground white pepper on the finish. Perfect dinner companion. A perennial overachiever! Great now; will probably get a bit better with age.

So young and tannic. Aargh! Rather restrained on the nose now - caramelised cherries. Aggressive and astringent, but full of tension and contained power. Tense and aggressive but sweet and exploding with joy and vibrancy.

From glass. High nail-polish note shooting up over the rest of the bouquet; rhubarb and earthy fruit down there on ground level. Sweeter nose before first sip, and then palate of glycies and astringency with a sweetened overlay. Approaching ethereal in texture, and with its just-so slightly drying but not blocking tannin, was wondering how many days the bottle had been opened for (my guess would be three). Good, but for me more "Burgundian" than the deeper and earthier Prod.d.Barb wines I've enjoyed before. Would expect others to score this higher.

Surely everybody's go-to starter Barbaresco. Consistently delightful and delicious. Every vintage. This one's a little cooler than 2015, 2016 or 2019, but it still needs time - there are a few hard edges here still. But my, how seductive this is. It's got this extraordinary backbone right at the heart of its firm, solid tannic structure. Held together by these tannins is a fleshy, supremely fragrant wine, bursting with violets, roses and that autumnal mulch so characteristic of Nebbiolo. Hints of truffles and orange peel complete the picture. Super.

Yes yes. Open, rounded ripe attractive aromatics. Touch if dust, but mostly ripe strawberry, hint of strawberry lace character. Some sweet spices. Full palate. You do feel the high abv (15%) but tonnes of flavour here too. Tannin is high but ripe, no greenness or astringency. Deep mid palate belying maybe the incluaion of the crus this year. Long finish. Super.

With a plan for Osso Bucco tomorrow, opened one of these to match with some baked chicken thighs. Very clear and light, not much in the way of bricking. Pretty tight on both the nose and palate initially. Palate is light to medium bodied, very dry, nice typical nebbiolo fruit - all red fruits, cherry, strawberry and plum . Length is excellent, dry and grippy with firm tannins. For sure a wine for ageing. Hoping that 24+ hours of air helps.

Splash decanted for 30min and then back to bottle. Brought to a BYO Italian restaurant and thought it went very well with red sauce and meats.
Agree with prior notes. Floral, tar, deep red fruits, tobacco. Didn't feel that this was a tannic monster and thought it was actually pretty approachable.
90-91 for me, though it was the third bottle of the night.

Pale brownish red. Nose : not very pronounced, some tobacco, cherry . Palate : cherry, red currant , mushrooms. Medium bold, quite acidic and Tannic. Med long. I was quite underwhelmed by this one actually. I guess we should have given it a lot more air (we decanted for 3 hours) or given it some years in the cellar. Had it with a cheese platter and crackers

Popped and poured. The 2018 Produttori del Barbaresco classico pours a garnet color with a transparent core; slightly orange around the rim. Medium+ viscosity with very light staining of a tears; no signs of sediment. On the nose, a mix of deep black and red fruits and wow…loads of tar. It’s bone dry, high tannin and medium+ acid. High alcohol. This is a tar bomb right now and the structure is absolutely monumental. The first time I drank the 2018 Nebbiolos from Piemonte, I thought they reminded me a lot of the 2010 vintage when it was young. And when I think about Produttori specifically, this bottle really reminds me of the way the 2010 drank around 5 years after vintage. Only time will tell if these follow a similar trajectory…but I suspect, yes. Drink now but expect a pile of tannin for at least the next 5-10 years and they should drink well for at least 20.

It was an enjoyable wine for me, but I would have liked to try it out with more age. This is still a very good wine, I'd give it 88pts for now, but it could be better as it comes closer to a 10 years old bottle, I think. There is already a light sediment in the bottle. The body is medium/full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity. The alcohol level was not pungent to me, as it was well integrated to the wine.

Coravin fun - Piedmont (My place, Kent Street): Savoury, meaty, very slight reductive, plummy fruit with red cherry underpin. Medium plus intensity acidity, plummy fruit, a little sweet spice, drying medium plus intensity tannins insinuate themselves in the mouth. Young but balanced, fresh, elegant, lovely.

Opened to have with Bolognese on Valentine's Day. Knew it would need some air so opened and decanted half the bottle 4 hours prior.
It still needed so much time. When I tasted and bought this bottle in Barbaresco, it seemed more together than this showed initially. The alcohol is up front, acid shows high and not harmonious. The whole wine was disjointed.
Came back to the rest of the bottle the next day. Much more together and was best on the last sips. Rosewater, fresh strawberries, rhubarb. Tannins are fresh and fine grained. Alcohol still overpowers and will need time for that to blow off before this really shows all it has to offer; couple more years I think.

John Jackson Attorney Somm brought this wine to my attention.
Color is light but very inviting.
Nose is very pleasant with typical Piedmont aromas.
On the palette the wine is fresh and vibrant. Very approachable and drinkable. Good flavors with light acidity and soft tannins. Slight bit of dry tannins on the finish
A delightful wine at this price point of $40. I would call it a cellar defender as it is affordable and drinkable. Also, could need defending as it will age and improve.

Pleasant, but probably too young now. Nose of tar and dark berries. Nice acid and concentration, finishing off with spicy tannins and nice, earthy, red fruit. A few more years would probably yield more balance. 88p

Nose of bright red cherry, cherry liquor, lots of brown spice and tobacco but the fruit stands up to the oak well. A “purple” note as well (other reviews say violet or purple fruit). Wine evolves beautifully in the glass.
Elegant on the palate. The fruit is long and persistent on the finish. Definitely some warming alcohol but the wine wears it well. Tannins are medium plus but not so assertive where I would recommend not opening the bottle now, but would go with a healthy decant/time in the glass.

Opened 6 hours beforehand. Red center, faded edge. Ripe black cherries and fennel on the nose. Light to medium weight but with rising sappiness, tar, and soil. Not quite in perfect balance as a bit of alcoholic heat shows. Moderate tannin and pleasing finishing cranberry tartness. Overall still a bit clunky but good.
Always good from produttori. A little young, alcohol very forward on first pour. As it opened up though, much better expression of the fruitful bouquet. Other than being a little tight its a great value barbaresco.

Medium Ruby. I know it is aged in oak, but don't get much of the taste past the acid and sharp cherry/raspberry flavors, maybe just giving them a touch of a spiced/dried flavor. Not too experienced on barberesscos specifically, but light on Tanins and body for a Nebiollo.

Took some time to blow off that reduced bottle stank. Initially very forwardly bigger strawberry fruits. More air brings out the more focused black cherry with charcoal soot. Feels forward and a bit round. The tannin and acid rescue that eventually but its not integrated just yet. The fruit even comes off a tad candied on the palate. The tannin isn't quite as robust as you might expect from this wine though still substantial. Overnight there is not much change. Maybe the glycerin is noticeable now. 15% Abv on the label is probably a clue yet it carries it alright. This is a ripe vintage clearly and the collective chose not to bottle the SVD's as a result. All is declassified into this. They apparently do not blend all the wines before bottling so you might get all Asili fruit for instance. I'm fairly certainly that's not what I got. What I got seems like a good candidate for drinking while some other vintages age.

Pulled the cork on the bottle accessed by Coravin in October.
This needs several hours of air to unwind. Typical bouquet, quite pretty, if somewhat restrained. Piercing, lifted, and gripping...though showing a greenish bite at the back. Alcohol comes through as well. If drinking over the next several years, a long decant helps tame the alcohol. Drink by 2030-2032. 91-92.

This wine is growing on me. It’s surprisingly forward and fairly giving with regard to tannin. And while a bit darker pitched than usual, it’s slightly grander body might owe to all the SVDs in bottle this vintage. It’s a great Produttori to have young, as the tannins are so (relatively) soft.

Tasted at the Produttori with Aldo Vacca. In the 2018 vintage there were no single vineyard wines made, so this represents the totality of the various crus all together in one wine. Higher ABV than Usual as well at 15% on the label. It is medium translucent garnet with a somewhat muted but mostly floral and mineral oriented nose. The palate is Medium+ in both tannin and that or less in acidity. Concentrated dense fruit expression with nice texture. Decidedly more approachable than the 2019 or the 2021 Langhe Nebbiolo. Very drinkable now and less complex than the previous 2 wines.

Ripe and very approachable in it’s youth. Don’t be alarmed by the 15% abv on the label. The alcohol is well interpreted and doesn’t burn or encumber the body.

Light in color, for this label, and for a declassified vintage.
Loud bouquet of red fruits and berries, acerola, sweet and savory herbs, raspberry leaf and hibiscus teas, summer potpourri, and root vegetables. Very nice, though the 15 abv shows a bit.
Like the color, lighter body and style than one might expect, particularly relevant to the declassification and alcohol. Serious acid and tannin, although seemingly a touch lean at the back.
Young. If it puts on weight, improvement seems likely. Still wines in this style are difficult to get a read on in youth. Not as deep and expansive as other vintages, especially the powerful 2010 and brooding 2012, which were also declassified.
The 15 abv scares me a little. Tanninphobes drinking in the near term should pop, pour, and guzzle, before the tannins apply their grip.

still early days for this wine that needs time for the tannin and acidity to mellow. PnP on day 1 showed a lot more weight and depth than I anticipated based on the lighter colouring that it pours. Black fruit, tar and very grippy tannin from the off. consumed over 3 more days and it freshened up a bit, the tannins mellowing slightly towards day 4 but still prominant yet partnered well with various grilled lamb, steak and pasta over the days it was opened

Picked this up at Costco at a reasonable price. Not without pleasure but very tannic, in fact rather than softening, the tannins seemed more pronounced the second day. With food, say lamb or duck for instance, I think this becomes a viable partner but I would still say this needs a couple more years right now. I don't have a much experience of this producer but I've tried a couple of bottles of the 2016 and they were more approachable at an early age. I don't think I have the patience to stock up on this.

Tasted over lunch without a decant. Initially this was a little tight, with sharp cherry flavours and firm, dusty tannins, but this opened up after half and hour and became smoother, more fruity and more integrated with the final glass the best by a long shot. As it improved you got a bit less austerity on the cherry flavours, and raspberry coming through, then some more secondary and tertiary notes of fresh earth, cedar, a hint of tobacco and floral notes, with a bit more richness and silkier textures to balance things out. Very nice and ready to drink with an hour or two decant.

A very unusual vintage for PdB. While this is the first vintage since 2012 where they haven't bottled the riservas, it really has nothing in common with that vintage.
My experience echoed others below. This showed extremely light in color, in an early drinking window, with the tannins taking a backseat to the very sweet cherry, burnt citrus, and rose perfume, as well as that touch of wood glue and solvent. The descriptors aren't unusual for the wine, everything is just very light. The label says 15% ABV, though it doesn't really show it.
If drinking now, best not to decant, and enjoy with food. I am a bit confused by the vintage, and would love to find out any info on the winemaking choices, as this result is odd to say the least.

The ‘18 Produttori is a decent wine, but not up to the quality level of the excellent 2017 or 2016 in my opinion.
On the nose, I found orange peel, red cherry fruit, anise, and a hint of dried red rose. On the palate, the wine is light in body with minimal tannin, drinking with ease already. Cool tones of orange peel, red rose, and a bit of light red cherry flow across the palate, with red rose, cherry, and licorice on the finish.

Had great expectations since 2017 was a special one for me. Unfortunately I was disappointed mostly because of the lack of red fruit and perfume. Scent of alcohol, solvent, tar and and hint of perfume. Taste of sour cherries, minerality and solvent. In some way the wine also has a complexity. Light body, high acidity and medium+ to high tannins. Let’s hope that more cellartime will improve the next bottles.

PnP, followed over 2 days. 15% alcohol. It was perfectly sound, nose of red cherry and leather, a good bit of spicebox on this wine. It had good supportive structure and was really classic to my palate but for the more open knit body, I suppose owing to the alcohol. I preferred the 16 strongly, but this wine should live a long time as well

Needed an hour or two of air then quite enjoyable, with good clarity of expression. The label says 15% but the alcohol does not stick out so much and there is no indication yet of overextraction or overripeness. Seems like a pretty typical example of PdB from a decent year.

Unsurprisingly, seems quite young right now. Decanted two hours and served over the following two/three hours.
Quite tannic but approachable if you’re not a tannin-phobe. The tannins are fine rather than gritty. Very aromatic nose, roses, spice, and bit of red fruit, but on the palate, the tannins hid the fruit a fair bit. Some heat at first, but seemed to go away after the first glass. Good acidity and nice texture. I’m sure it will be much better after more bottle age but scoring it how it was on the night.

Very soft tannins for a Barbaresco. This is accessible straight away. Still has some depth and structure that will age well for the next 5 years but has a slightly subdued bouquet, including the medium length holds it back. With that said, it still has lovely Christmas cake spices. I bought 24 of these and they are very delicious for an early drinking Barbaresco.

Delightful young barbaresco..no single vineyard wines in 2018 so all of those grapes went into this wine. Lots of cherry, mild tannins, good acidity and some earthiness with decent structure ad excellent balance... it will satisfy early. While its very good out of the bottle, it's even better with some air. Terrific with pasta.

Elegant and very aromatic with cherry liqueur, violets. Firm, chewy but tannins and fresh acidity. Young, but already so delicious after decanting for 2 hours. Surprised that the 2018 checks in at 15% alcohol, although this year was a lot cooler (and wetter) than the bone-dry and hot 2017 (14.5%). Not that you taste it.

Opened to breathe and enjoyed over 2-3h including dinner. Baking spices, shoe polish, and cordial on the nose, but the palate is more "classic" nebbiolo: balanced but bold red fruit, tannins, mineral and acid. The tannins are chewy in the finish at this young stage of development, but not unbalanced, rather charming in fact, especially paired with pasta tossed with white wine sauce, grated pecorino cheese, sauteed onions, chopped parsely and finely shaved black truffles. Amazing pairing, and the wine was good, but not great. As a barometer for the '18 vintage, this is a fine showing, maybe like '12. Not as great as '16.

I would not hold bottles beyond 2030-2033. 91-92.

Si Signora!

92 easy. Maybe more.

Super.

Lovely Barbaresco. Great QPR.
Medium Pale Ruby, gorgeous color.

Light and bright red, almost Pinot like. Rose, tar and syrup on the nose. Fresh Druid, high acidity, tannins well measured. Short to medium finish with nice floral aftertaste. Lovely drop.

Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco (winery): made from a blend of all the single vineyards.
Pale Ruby
Med aromas and flavors intensity of red fruits, delicate flavors, hints of earth, oak-vanilla, smoked meat.
Elegant, approachable already now, though not a long aging potential as the 2017 & 2019.

Ripe and very approachable in it’s youth. Don’t be alarmed by the 15% abv on the label. The alcohol is well interpreted and doesn’t burn or encumber the body.

Coravin pour.

Very savoury and compact even on day 2. Almost like Vegemite. It’s promising with a good acidity and fruit. One that needs a few more years in the bottle.

PnP. Läder i näsan. Mörka bär, kryddor, tanniner, syra och alkohol i munnen. 2018 var ju varmt, allas vår referenssommar, och de 15 % alkohol känns. Ett litet kraftpaket
