Meh. Not terrible, but not tasty. It has some pretty sharp-ish scents that remind me of vinegar but blows off a bit after 10 minutes. Smells like dirt, rocks and some berry but not much. Texture is great! Very velvety. Not as acidic as I was thinking it would be. Not very flavorful I will say. Some notes of black tea and cherry notes. Ambivalent at best with this one. Drink up.

Ikke dekantert. Korken helt uberørt av lagring. Nese av tobakk, urter, pepper og tørkede bær. Fint utviklet og bra struktur i munnen, men litt spinkel konsentrasjon. Høy syre, medium tannin. Bra lengde. Vinen utvikler seg positivt med mere kompleksitet etter en time med åpen flaske, men konsentrasjonen ikke vesentlig endret. Vinner ikke på videre lagring.

Not a bad bottle of wine - raspberry, garrigue, brick n’ose. Vital, peppery palate. But this has much more to say about Rhône than Bordeaux, which is odd and I just can’t get past the dissonance

Looking quite aged. From en primeur purchase. A little VA, thin bodied, astringent and almost no fruit left. Lacks concentration and lack of selection at harvest is now cruelly exposed. Should be a lot better. Before they really focused on quality over quantity.

Bordeaux 10th Anniversary WIMPS (La Trompette, London): Dusty, quite warm Graves nose. Something slightly dry and woody on the finish. Still some chew. A little lactic on the nose too. Dryand surly finish. Does seem to lift a little after an hour or so, so probably 95 rather than cork, but even so. Lacks charm, but signs of it getting there. **(*1/2)?

On the nose, the wine is clean with a medium intensity. There are well-defined aromas of ripe black fruit (blueberry, blackberry) and bottle age (tobacco, subtle leather). The wine is developing.
On the palate, the wine is dry with medium acidity, medium alcohol, and medium(+) body. The medium(+) tannins are ripe, soft, fine-grained, and grippy. The flavours have a medium intensity and show notes of black fruit (boysenberry, blueberry, blackberry), red fruit (raspberry), vegetable (green capsicum), and bottle age (leather). The finish has a long length.
This wine is of an outstanding quality. The flavours are concentrated and have an amazing balance with the alcohol and the acidity. The neutral oak treatment allows the fruit to be fully expressed. The ripe tannins are soft, have a great balance with the acidity and complement the flavour profile. The wine has complexity, with numerous primary characters and some bottle age tertiary notes. The finish is very enjoyable and has an amazing length. The flavours provide a very clear expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, with typical black fruit and herbaceous aromas.
The wine drinks well now, and is suitable for further ageing. The fruit is concentrated, and the tannic structure and acidity will help support the wine as tertiary notes further develop.

Coravin fun - Dom. de Chevalier checking (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Red currant, slight damp cellar, a bit dried out on the nose in fact. Touches of raisin and dusty oak backed by spice and meaty notes. Juicy, wet, fleshy but with quite muted flavours of fruit, leather, touches of spice and a little cigar box. Tannins are fine but present. Hmm.

Rather lack the usually performance of a pessac-leognon wine, not very salty but it has the strength and intense of red and blanc fruits, not much tertiary flavors have developed. A very balanced wine. Can be well stored for 5-10 years more if you want to have them in another stage.

Decanted 1 hour. Cork in good shape, minimal soaking. Deep garnet core, pale garnet rim. Nose is quite aromatic with dark, slightly meaty fruit. Composed. Medium bodied on the palate, initially cool black fruits, the occasional trace of cardboardy flavours which seems to go away altogether with time, dark savoury fruit, note of bloody meat, soft tannins, the flavours carry well on a very good length harmonious finish. Very good indeed, drinking well.

Actually took time to open up. The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like lead pencil, lead pencil and fig. It tastes like blackberry, black currant (cassis) and alcohol/hot. The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has high acidity.

Elegant, velvety and a bit thin, with flavors of wood smoke, earthy fruit, coffee and a touch of jerky. Medium-bodied, the weight was very much like a burgundy without the spice component and the finish was fairly long. Fully mature, the wine had noticeable bricking around the edges. No need to let this get any older so drink up.

Treats in the cellar: Vouvray, Chablis, Bordeaux, Piedmont and Hermitage (Chelsea Wine Storage.): Lean and graceful, but it could certainly use more fruit. It's true to its style in that regard and with its elevated acid levels. There's some green pepper present with beef blood, a hint of coffee, earth, leather and tart red fruit. Needed red meat which we didn't have and this is very clearly a Burgundy lover's Bordeaux. B+/B.

Pop at home: Thin nose with some solvent. Mouth: Very well built wine with good quality tannins [M-], supple acids [M+] and good fruit. Warm red fruits invade the mid-palate and ends with mature tobacco, scorched earth etc and a bitter tinge that will marry the bitternes of the expected Japanese spring vegetables tonight.
After 2 hrs of decant, at Restaurant Tani in Gaienmae: Nose: 20 jazz funk greats but no symphonies. Bashful, but red berries and heathen earth notes. Mouth: Caresse! Perfectly evolved, at peak. Not extraordinary, but very distinct and refined, fully mature juice. Absolutely married the NANOHANA (slightly bitter greens) and cut well through the grand finale: perfectly made Wagyu beef with thick topping of fois gras and truffe. Irresistable throbbing feelings of the gristle in my throat... Yumm yumm! Time to start considering drinking up this amazing wine. This was our only btl, perfectly timed. (wife 89-90 - we both agree DdC can do much much better.)

Very pretty garnet/ruby to orange/pink at rim. By far the most distinguished nose I can remember for this wine. More fruit to go with the pencil, gravel and rubber/nail polish. This is really quite lively and spry. The flavor is much more fun, as well. This is certainly no fruit bomb as it leans toward the delicate/austere side. That said there is a ripeness that the others bottles of this have not had while this retains its elegance superbly. A fantastic bottle and one that calls for a good roast chicken or duck. Let’s hope the other bottles are as good. Drinking very well now and for 3 to 5 more years. (17.5)

Rich, deep garnet to brick to clear. A deep color that reminds me of the ‘70’s a long time ago. A weird nose to come to grips with. Very woody, with wet tobacco and some plumy/cassis fruit. Almost seems a bit corked, but I remember this being similar to the last bottle. I think it might be more of the style of the chateau. There is a bit of sweetness that is very nice. Round, full feel in the mouth. There is nice fruit that is buttressed by a good dose of acid/tannin. The underlying fruit is wonderful and ripe, but I would have to call this lean. I am perplexed. Don’t know what to do with the other four bottles, but I picked these up cheap and think I will probably drink them soon. (14.5+?)

Pristine deep garnet –to ruby at rim – just beginning to show maturity. Ripe red berries and rubber mixed with Asian spice and a distinct minerality. A singular nose. Medium/full feel with a defined sweetness that suggests very good ripeness – in addition, I pick-up a dusty grassiness as well. There is a noticeable structure that suggests further aging would be OK. That said, the wine does not have the depth of flavor needed for significant improvement. No great shakes on the finish. Elegant, old style - a real food wine. Drink over the next couple of years. (14.5)

Opened and double decanted as back up for Les' 1980 latour.
This wine is approaching maturity; howver it still needs vigorous decanting to open up. The wine is even bodied, pleasant and has the earthy gravelly flavors reminicent of Haut Brion. However, it lacks the power depth and concentration of a great wine. Enjoy from 2005-2015.
