Drank At Subterraneum with Joe and Paul Costigan. Very easy and gentle, soft acid, nice secondary evolution. I wonder if it would evolve better with a cork than a screw cap. But it was lovely, only 7.5% alcohol, with soft, round, gentle flavors of pineapple lemon and grapefruit pith. Enjoyable, if lacking the acid and cut I normally like

This is an essence of Riesling kind of wine to me. It is as light as a cloud but bursting with flavor; full of sweet ripe fruit, and packed with minerals and herbs at the same time. There is tension but there are no hard edges. The only way I would enjoy it more is if/when the faint kerosene note recedes. Superb now, with room for further development.

very similar showing to a bottle some months back, though this one seemed to show a bit more evolution, with stronger (but far from excessive) undertones of petrol

still some residual sweetness, that slips into the background after several sips. Peach and white flowers on the nose and palate. Delicate finish propelled by the lift of acid. Drinking well, but not showing a lot of tertiary development. Just delicious. Why don't I buy more wine by this producer? 91-92ish

Showing the fatness of the 2007 vintage but the sugar is not over the top. Flavors of peach and strawberry with balancing acidity. Well done. Drink now or over the next 10 - 15 years.

First time drinking from Erdener Treppchen. Quite sweet, full of lemon and honeysickle, however, there is also a strong element of stoney gravel, overshadowing most of the fruit towards the finish. (But not in a bad way) Overall interesting; I don't think it will improve much, best to drink young.

near clear. racy, slate meets stone fruits with high toned acidity and a petrol whiff. This wine is delicious and slakes the thirst, if not overly complex.

Tasted again tonight with similar impression. This is in a zone where sweetness overpowers acid but I think that it will recover balance with more time. Plan to wait 5-10 yrs to drink again. I do expect great things though.

From memory. Unscrewed and poured. Started out a little spritzy and reductive, but with gentle swirling this blew off. This is still very primary but judging by previous notes this is going through a "sweet" phase with prominent RS. There is good acidity to maintain balance, and definite depth and richness. Finished balanced and smooth. I anticipate a bright future.

Tasted non blind at a wine dinner. Opened and served immediately.
Light yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of apricot, diesel and acacia. Flavors of peach, a hint of cherries and dried pineapple. Bright acidity, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold.

Tasted from three different bottles, all popped and poured. Light straw color. Citrus, pear and green apple on the nose. No petrol or diesel as experienced by others. Light, spritz feel in the mouth, with pear and citrus, with maybe a hint of slate/minerality. Decent balance of acidity and sweetness, the latter allowing it to stand up the the Thai dishes, Massaman curry and drunken noodles. Very good choice for our party, as the lightness made it acceptable on its own, while the Riesling structure and spatlese sweetness kept up with the spicy food later on.

Opened and served right away. Light to medium straw in colour. Wow, this is tight. Both the nose and palate seem closed for business. So with around half the bottle left, I closed up the screw cap and put in the fridge. 24hrs later, what a difference. Pronounced and developing nose of pineapple, lemon rind with hints of petrol. Sweet entry with loads of apricot, lime, honeydew and canned pears. Finishes with sweet green apple notes and a good bite of acidity. Very tasty after being opened for 24hrs but I’d let this rest a few more years. Excellent. 90+

Pale/golden hue, big nose of marmalade and citrus fruit underscored by flint, acacia flowers, green apple and hints of almond powder, palate is sweet and tangy with generous portions of complex fruit, finish lingers with canned oranges, lemon and spice, on the sweet side but with depth

Screw cap. Nose of sweet lime with a touch of diesel. Spritzy enough you can see it in the glass. Sweet tart quality and a bit chunky right now with sugary lime. Typically I would want to let this rest more but the screw cap says drink sooner. Good value at $20. Give it some air.

-- cracked and poured -- -- Tasted non-blind over 3 days -- -- TN and score are from Day 3 -- -- AP No. 2 602 041 003 08 --
NOSE: too sulphury on Day 1; on Day 3: tropical bouquet of lychee, pears, and papaya jellies; smells green -- like a honeydew melon; no hints of underbrush or smoke.
BODY: light white-yellow color; medium to medium-full bodied; a bit spritzy on Day 1.
TASTE: what was way too acidic on Day 1 has improved considerably now, on Day 3 – there’s still plenty of mouth-watering acidity, but it’s not the make-your-face-pucker acidity that was present on Day 1; flavors of pear, lychee and apricot dominate; straight out of the fridge on Day 3, this came across like a sweet Kabinett ... as it warmed to proper drinking temperature the sugar really intensified, making this come across as an Auslese with the lighter Spatlese mouthfeel – it was a bit too sweet for me, but I imagine that had a lot to do with opening this way too young. Finish has lengthened since Day 1 (approx. 45 sec.); 7.5% alc.. Just a cranky baby right now ... Hold.

Delicious....a good nose of tropical fruit...apples and pears on the palate, and sufficient acidic cut to balance the sweetness and keep the wine from any hint of flabbiness. medium plus finish. As nice a mid-range German riesling as I have had since the 2001 vintage.

Expressive riesling nose that I could smell all day with slate, stone fruit and a touch of saline and spritz on the palate. Would have liked more acidity as this one gets too close to the flabbiness line and will cross over if held open overnight. Had a glass left over and it had, not surprisingly, fallen apart. Drink upon opening - a solid 89 pts on day one; 75 pts day 2.

(under screw-cap) Served slightly too cold so I revisited 15 mins later and what a difference it made. Paired with red curry beef and vegetables. Rather muted nose with a white floral characteristic. Medium to full bodied wine dominated by apples & citrus with a good dose of sweetness & bracing acidity on the finish to keep this wine fresh & in balance. Delicious now & a nice qpr but this wine is soo young & needs to pick up a little weight. Patience & time! 50+5+13+16+7=91+

On the sweet side for a Spätlese, this is bursting with intense red apple, lime, honey, and slate flavors. Slightly spritzy in the mouth, with terrific harmony, fresh balancing acidity, and a long finish that kicks the sweetness level up a notch. Excellent, though it will undoubtedly show more complex secondary flavors with additional bottle age.

A little reductive at first with some spritz and sulphur - but with time this really opened up and was a beauty. The nose is very primary showing lots of bright apple and floral aromas with tons of minerality - there's lots of slate here and some spicy/peppery notes underneath. Medium bodied on the palate with lots more slate, apples and some white fruits and good acidity to balance the sweetness. Refreshing, medium length finish.
