Although it falls short of greatness, it remains a commendable village-level wine, worthy of exploration and enjoyment.
Yes, I drank a lot, and it was very quaffable. Was it complex and moderately ripe no. Could have some upside though. Red cherry and some earth and some sauvage ness if you let it air out. Would recommend a decant and slight chill. A very elegant style and tannins are in check. I’ve had better vintages of this amazing vineyard.

Mixed WTDS: AKA "Bring a Nice Bottle" (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Dark red color. PNP, drank a glass over 2 hours. As expected this took longer to evolve. Brooding at first with darker fruits, dark red fruits and black cherry, evolving slowly to show baking spices, underbrush, orange rind and mineral notes on a dense, layered more powerful frame. Very good and surely benefits from air right now. 92+ to 93pts.

Popped and consumed slowly over several hours after bottle had been open for an hour. Did not decant (maybe that is a mistake).
Fairly clear wine. Light color. Evolving towards brick-red.
On nose, red fruit, bit of smoke, and an earthiness which reminds me of cooked lamb.
On palate, that lovely smoky-tart Burgundian note really comes across. Still red fruit forward. Earthy-smoky finish.
Overall, a very nice wine! But for my money and palate I would have difficulty justifying this against, for example, the Aubert PN I had last night, or a Beaux Freres. But, as has been helpfully pointed out by others, I might be a philistine, so interpret my comments with the appropriate level of caution.

Just Lovely with a 3 hour double decant. in addition to the normal Pinot flavors, I got a some cedar and mild tobacco on the finish. I also tasted mild cherry and just a hint of lemon peel. Very complex, still has tannins to carry it a few more years. I would greatly contrast this with some of the American Pinots that (while being very tasty) are sweeter and somewhat cloudy. This is crystal clear and razor focused on the palate.

Soft albeit a touch dry at times, or maybe lean is a better word which shows a bit of the 2008 vintage. Still a decent dose of oaky dynamic on the back ground but complementary to the wine. Good wine with decent length and healthy fruit just starting to show a secondary side. 90-91

Good>Very good. Seemed more complete than the 2009 at this stage. Medium-bodied, subtle yet firm tannins, good, fresh acidity. Red fruited, this is chock full of forest, tea and sous bois notes. The finish is clean, of average length. I like this bottling as I find it to be consistently good at representing both the terroir and the vintage. That said, this was never striking, nor was it dull. I'll settle for pleasant, and a really good partner to food. Drink now or in mid-term. recommended

Needs a few minutes to open up but a very nice burg here. From 1/2 bottle. Nice cherry and spice. Some wood on the palate but not overly done. Medium dark color. This is still quite primary even from 375ml. Nice texture with a rich and supple mouth feel. Think this can improve with further age.

I am a fan of 2008 Burg. High acid, good fruit and lots of favors. This 08 is no different. If I had to pick at it there is a lot of structure present at this point and the tannins need time to integrate. However, this is very good and has nice length. I love the spice notes - makes me wonder if this was whole cluster. Tastes like it and I am a fan. Think this is 92 today and could easily age into a better score.

91-92+; Many previous notes more or less nail this wine. Fruit isn't bright, but it's there in a nice underlying way. Earthy tones dominate, crushed rock, gravel, a little dirty, on the lighter side but still a solid body. Good acidity, lots of spice, very nice food wine. QpR is more on the so-so side, not a deal but not ridiculous either.
Light ruby. Love the perfumed nose of sour cherry, raspberry, earth and touch of five spice. Light to mid-weight but nice length and freshness so quite uplifting and delicate at the same time. Completely ready but could get a little more complex in due course so will be interesting to follow. Bit pricey for what it is.

Baby Jesus (Bouchard), Yquem, Madeira, Rhys, RM (John V.'s): Purple/ruby in color. The first wine to show of that Burgundy funk. In fact, it was only the three more recent vintages that really did. Also nice cherry fruit. Juicy acidity. Great pure cherry fruit on the palate. It unwinds in the glass to show some tight layering. Needs time of course.

The difference between this and the 2007 is ginormous. The aroma on this has lots of ripe red berries, black cherries, some buttery vanilla oak scents which I really didn't expect, blueberry compote and some leather. The palate has good structure with more tannins than acidity, and is rather full bodied for the style with ripe berry fruit. The finish falls slightly short at this point. This is very good, albeit not at all what I expected after tasting the previous vintage. This could almost pass for a Cali Pinot.

Highway to the D'Anger(ville) Zone (L'Apicio): Pure, cool red fruit, but overwhelmed by high-char oak that turns smokey and increasingly hammy and reductive with air. Dense and classy texture but the oak tannins make their presence felt. If you are sensitive to oak, avoid

with an hour decant. The nose is earthy, with loam and mushrooms. one can sense the round fruit lurking behind this. This has medium depth and a strong steely minerality this is enveloped by ripe red currants and red plums. Still a bit tight and primary, but the nose, too me at least, indicates, this age quite nicely.

4th Saturday group "uptown" tasting (Rick & Cris'): Faded rim; appears a bit older than the others in this flight. Opens with aromas of deli meats, turning to red fruit with a dusty, earthy quality and a subtle vegetal note. Starts to shut down in the glass becoming more reticent as it sits. Red fruit and cherry tones, but again, very closed. Give this some time.
This was very quickly double decanted off its sediment and back into the bottle about 2.5 hours before the tasting began.

Hard to tell where this one is going, could be truly great in a decade, could never come around. Berry tones with earthy notes on the nose and palate. Vibrant acidity, with a mouthpuckering cherry sweettart flavor, but in a good way. Medium depth, not clear if there is enough fruit to hold on for years, but the structure is good. An enjoyable bottle from start to finish, but a challenging wine, not a 'wow isn't this great' wine. Wait until at least 2016, probably longer.

Expressive aromatics of wet earth, minerals, espresso, prunes and liquorice. It is rich in the mouth yet tightly wound and sinewy. The fruit is ripe and underpinned by electrifying acidity. It finishes long and chewy with ample structure. A wine that may take a long time to unwind but should be something special.

Bouchard / Fèvre / Henriot Tasting (The Wine Cellar Club - Irvine, CA): At first this seemed closed on the nose but I revisited it later which revealed red berries, grilled herbs, and earth. The palate never seemed to open up much, just revealing hints of red fruit and spices combined with firm acidic structure. Seems to be hopelessly closed although I have the impression there could be some green tannins peaking out here. 89?

Opened by Allred for 4th Saturday Group. Showed bricking and had an orange/rust hue throughout. Notes of tar and asphalt. Guessed CDP.

Dark cherry, flora and earth on the nose. Full and generous in the mouth with terrific underlying structure. Great balance and freshness and should be a cracker in a decade or so.

Med red. Nose is cherry fruit, iron, soil. Is rather tight, but not hard. It's very good with dinner, but could use several more years

Some good material in there but awfully woody. Better on the second day and I think this will be another classic baby jesus but it will need time.

Bouchard Pere et Fils Cellar Visit and Tasting (Beaune Burgundy): Red cherry on nose and palate. Very attractive floral support. Palate gets lots of support from good acidity and minerality, good tannins as well. Lots of tension and energy, long silky finish. Very good for its level.
