This was half bottle, spending 10 days in the fridge. It was probably higher at the onset, but this rating is for longevity. If you told me this was tondonia reserva or Musar I would absolutely believe it. Seems to go forever. Still some salt, wax, nice fullness and even low background acidity. All combined with beautiful sweetness. Amazing after 10 days open bottle.

This is from their website from July 2020 vertical
(62% Roussanne, 26% Grenache Blanc, 12% Picpoul Blanc): Nice richness on the nose, honey and lacquered wood, nectarine and white flowers, with a sweet green note like newly cut grass. On the palate, both fruity and yeasty: imagine pineapple upside down cake, but dry. Tremendous texture. Lingering flavors of honeycomb and candied orange peel, enlivened by fresh green herbs on the long, focused finish. A great showing for this wine, which like the 2007 I often found in its youth so dense that it was easier to admire than love.
For me it certainly isn’t heavy. After months of burgundies I was craving for somewhat less acidity and more butter. This hits the spot. If you like the white CdP this is certainly a nice relatively light version, entering its secondary stage.
Day two and it loses some fruit, turning more into Tondonia-like white. I think this means it has good 5 years on this plateau. Good.

Tasty and fragrant. Scents of lanolin, honey, peaches, marigolds and a superb texture. Very rich, while maintaining clean poise. A good testament to what Roussanne can do with a little help and a bit of age. I’m sure this will only get better with another 3-5 years.

PnP and enjoyed for about an hour and a half. Great complexity on the nose, with scents of caramel, honey, honeysuckle flower, watermelon rind and a touch of strawberry and smoke. The palate is slightly waxy, but also has a acidic “zing” that others have referred to as well. Ripe cantaloupe, white peach, grilled lemon, and a bit of green apple flavors coat the tongue. The finish is a touch short, and I’m not sure how much more time this one has, but right now it is delicious!

I opened this bottle in early February and immediately poured half into a clean airtight 375 ml bottle. I opened that 375 today and was stunned to find the wine in perfect condition.
Honeycomb, Robertson's Seville Orange Marmalade, and a faint spritz tingle on opening. There was a whiff of oxidation that evolved into a terrific and complex roasted almond nuttiness mingled with white flowers and ripe peach and some other notes typical of Riesling with noble botrytis. I am enjoying this unexpectedly and immensely.
This is not the first time I have had an older wine that on opening struck me as past prime and then experienced resurrection. Reminds me a bit of the TCV 2008 Esprit Rouge in that respect.
Tablas Creek recently blogged about on the surprising ageability of Roussanne based wines, like this one. I find it true. The downside is unpredictability.

Brought this to Cafe de Hong Kong last night to share with a group of wine enthusiasts.
Dark gold in colour with notes of honeysuckle, white flowers, ripe pineapples, fresh tropical fruits and a touch of honeycomb. Lush, heavy, with a clear focus, this wine is delightful with food and amazing on its own.
The wine went brilliantly with the smoked duck and stirred fried vegetables with anchovies.

Drank this at Lao Beijing with 2 close colleagues.
Presented the wine as a good produce from a famed producer. Yellow in colour with considerable weight on the palate. On the nose the wine is tight with limited extraction of flavours. The taste profile presents notes of peach, apricot, green apples, lemon tart and Asian pears.
Had higher expectations of this wine and the performance of this label is consistently somewhat inconsistent over the years.

Moderate golden hue. Honey, baked apple, lemon curd, ginger, and some oxidative notes on the nose with a crisp, acid driven palate and mineral finish. Blend of 62% Roussane, 26% Grenache Blanc, and 12% Picpoul Blanc propagated from budwood cuttings from the Château de Beaucastel estate. Consumed from a 375 mL, this is at the end of its aging curve in this format.

I'm not sure what happened with the previous reviews. This bottle was excellent. Nice nose, smells like pear compote with some floral components. Flavor profile: pear on the front end with a bit of butterscotch, Nice acidity, , just a well done wine. Color was yellow gold with a slight oakiness on the finish. Really enjoyed this.

I agree with tcarter's recent review on this wine and it mirrors my own inconsistent experience with the Tablas Esprit Blanc (they have now dropped the Beaucastel description). I sat next to the charming Jason Haas at a London tasting and at its best this is an outstanding wine. This bottle definitely past its best.

I agree with CADOMER's assessment and wish I had more. My bottle was stored in the mid-upper 60s F rather than ideal cellar conditions and so it was showing mid-late maturity. The richness was never flabby, kept in check by some dry, but not chalky, minerality underneath. Half the bottle was kept closed, slightly suctioned, in a wine refrigerator overnight then re-cooled (you don't want this too cold) and I found it was best the second night, so even though this is 6 years old, you might find air does it good.

Puckering acidity, a nice oxidized honey, beeswax flavor and a pleasing viscosity. Each of these parts were so distinct in this wine, it seemed fragmented instead of harmonious. For that reason, I liked it. Didn't love it.

Vivid gold/yellow colored wine that is clear. Moderate Viscosity. Aromas of moderate intensity give scents of golden raisins, apple blossom, fresh cut Asian pear, white fig, stone fruits, toasted brioche and dried leafs, with hints of minerality. The palate flavors confirm, loaded with pear, golden raisins, white fig, mineral, dried apricot, buttered brioche and mineral, with a slightly oxidized character. The acidity is moderate/moderate+ and the density on the mid palate is nice and adds weight to the palate. Overall this wine delivers both Old world and New world characteristics, should be decanted and served at a slightly warmer temp to allow aromatics to express themselves.

62% Roussanne, 26% Grenache Blanc, 12% Picpoul Blanc, and a great vintage per the back label. I'm a great fan of Esprit de Beaucastel blanc, but this was something of a disappointment. Others have reported bottle variation and this was really fully if not over ready. Not a patch on the Joseph Swan Rousssanne based Sarelee's vineyard drunk a couple of days earlier.
Second Sunday Group: 2000 Bordeaux (R&D's): Notes of melon and apple but also very obvious oak. Crab apple and pear, with plenty of toast and spice. Picks up a lemon oil quality on the finish. No guess.

PnP last nite. Had a glass or 2 with guests. TN from bottle opened a day. 62% Roussanne, 26% Grenache Blanc, 12% Picpoul Blanc. Color is clear, med gold at the core, pale gold to colorless at the rim. The nose is clean, developing, showing med intensity aromas of honeydew melon, lemon curd, zesty white pepper, pear, and minerals. The palate shows a dry wine, med in body, med in alcohol (listed 13.5% abv). Med intensity flavors of lemon drop, pear, honey, chalk, and white pepper. The acidity is med, keeping this wine nicely balanced and fresh, leading into a med length finish where the spice or zest dances with the honeyed pears. This is a very good quality wine, nicely layered and complex, well balanced, drinking beautifully now, and will likely continue to do so through 2017.

Subdued nose of white peach, pear, minerals and caramel. Waxy and creamy on the palate; medium, somewhat crisp/zingy finish. Roussanne clearly the dominant note. Better than last, but still doesn't justify the price.

Not as overtly rich or oily as other Esprit Blancs that I've had, the 09 is much leaner and with greater minerality while still capturing the essence of these wonderful wines. This is the closest thing you'll find in a domestic US wine to a traditional white Rhone.

For a white, it was a fruit bomb. Pear, White Peach and Apricot type fruit aromas and a palate to match. Lighter and fruitier than a typical Rhone Marsanne / Rousanne blend, has more of a Cali touch of ripeness without the oily viscous quality that is sometime present in such blends

We decanted this wine about 15 minutes before drinking/serving with dinner to encourage the wine’s bouquet to blossom because Tablas Creek’s wine’s are famous for greatly benefiting from decanting, cellaring, and savoring over good food.
This wine has an almost Chablis-like nose, exhibiting an earthy chalkiness, along with tropical and Autumn fruits (like pears and apples), along with white flowers.
This is a lovely Southern Rhone-style white blend. The almost 2/3-worth of Roussanne contributes to the wine’s medium-bodied heft, along with the wine’s creaminess, richness, tropical fruits, and waxiness. The Grenache Blanc and Picpoul Blanc contribute a zingy zippiness (aka acidity, stoniness, and minerality), along with added depth-of-flavors.
This is a wonderful summer/spring-time white blend. I enjoy a good Chardonnay, Riesling, and/or Sauvignon Blanc (to name just a few) as much as the next guy, but I absolutely LOVE a good, quality, well-made blend (bubbly, rose, white, and/or red). This is one of the best white blends I’ve had all year; it has a nice, floral, fruity nose, along with a creamy, stony, minerally, tropical and citrusy flavor profile. This wine would be very nice as an aperitif but it is SO food-friendly that I would stick to serving this wine with quality food.

Straw color, with some luminosity. Pineapple, pear, almonds and honey on the nose, along with some floral notes. Creamy palate, with mineral and tropical notes; touch of vanilla. Medium, chalky finish. Better than the first 375ml bottle, but still nothing like the experience at the winery. Hoping that one of the 750ml bottles proves worthy of the price!

Fantastic Paso white Rhone blend of Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Picpoul Blanc. Extremely well balanced with dried apricot, almond and ginger. Somewhat dry with nice acidity, subtle oak and a long silky finish. Very similar to the 2010 with the difference being that the '09 has a bit more citrus and lemon chiffon most likely due to have a bit more Picpoul Blanc (12% vs 5%).

A bit out of balance, uncharacteristically. The nose had the usual mineral/petrol/floral notes, but all decidedly muted, even on day two. Not a lot of fruit on the palate, with a slightly bitter/acrid finish. Kudos for texture, but this bottle was undistinguished I'm afraid.

White Rhones ($20 to $40): The groups WOTN. Light golden in color. The nose has some slight toast qualities. Baked apples and fresh white raisins. Nice texture. Apple pie flavors and some wax paper notes. Slight bitter on the finish, but not enough to be a problem. This is good. The TC vintage chart says this is young and needs decanting. it did get better all night long.

Deep golden color. Not getting much nose at fridge temp. Palate enters with waxy honey and floral notes, subdued fruit in the background. The finish follows with a second wave of white peaches and more flowers, making a very complex and interesting white wine. Nice pairing with lobster alfredo fettuccine.

Thursday Night Blind Tasting in KW (Greg's House): Popped and poured. Initially very closed on the nose, with a touch of honey and caramelized sugar. On the palate, not much flavour, but a very viscous, rich and textured mouthfeel. The finish was of moderate length, but mostly due to the alcohol/heat sticking out on the backend. I decided to give this the benefit of the doubt, and followed it over the course of the evening. At the 3 hour mark, things opened up a bit more, adding complexity on the nose with hints of florals and melon. On the palate, still quite hot, with some bittnerness, but acidity is fairly weak. Not enough here to really be enjoyable.

Extremely young and tight. It took 3 days to open up, but on day 3 it was a beauty. Once open, it had complex aromas of white flowers, honey, white tea, peach and tons of mineral. On the palate it has good viscosity and texture with bright acidity that helps structure the stone fruits and great mineral finish. Don't touch this for at least 6 months unless you don't mind waiting a couple days for it to open. I love Tablas!

Tasting room pour. Seems a bit lighter weight than the vintages on ether side of it, in a good way. Inviting aromas of pears, honeysuckle, and white flowers. Very elegant and refined palate of pears and white peaches with blood oranges, minerals, and a splash of apricot nectar. Soft and approachable, but with very good acidity. Beautifully fat and creamy mid palate with a lightly oily texture and a lingering finish. Reminds me a lot of the '06. Excellent.

Straw in color. Much more robust nose (and palate) than the Cotes de Tablas. Peach, pear, and floral tones on the nos. Nice glycerin mouth feel with large fruit tastes of pear, apricot. Nice aging potential in this wine and there is acidity to carry it several years down the road. I think it would be great with food (shellfish, white sauces) and may be better served that way than tasted on it's own. Would be better if the price point was more reasonable however.

Consumed over two days. As a very mineral driven wine, it is both reticent and difficult to judge at this time, quality is undoubtedly there. Was more open on day two. Nose of crushed rocks, mineral oil, with hints of honeysuckle and nuts. Again, on the palate this is a very mineral driven wine at this point with little fruit. At various points there are notes of crushed rocks, apricot, stone fruit pit, honeysuckle, and a sweet nuttiness. Medium acidity, full bodied, balanced with food. Finish is medium and closed. At various times there are several components showing here. There is quality in this bottle but it demands cellar time of 1-4 yrs as a guess.

From memory, this vintage seems to have more balance and precision that some in the past, particularly the '03 which seemed pretty hot the 2 times I had it. In contrast, this is very refined yet full flavored. Seems to have the potential for some aging, probably peaking (for my tastes) in 2-4 years.

Very elegant and refined palate of pears and white peaches with blood oranges, minerals, and a splash of apricot nectar. Soft and approachable, but with very good acidity.
