Almost surely the first 1991 I've had. For such a reputedly awful vintage, this is really quite good. Dark fruit, plummy, sandalwood, old oak. Holding together and actually improved with a couple hours in the decanter.

Delicate and attractive, but Ppst its best, with tannin starting to dominate. Fruit a lingering memory. Still delicious with cheese, but missing the usual body.

Slightly dull ruby at the rim, still black in the centre. Nose of old leather and cedar. Full bodied and still a good tannic mouthful. Tooth furring. Tarry finish, but not a lot of fruit. Not sure where it is going.

Fully mature and packed full of character. Mahogany colour with notes of spices, plums, chocolate powder and black fruit. Long finish, elegant but still carries that Barton sense of depth and quality. Drink soon

Clear ruby red, edge thinning, dullness showing. Quite dry and thinning. Fruit emerges on aftertaste, with cedar lingering. Drink up. .
