Sauternes Chinese Banquet Dinner: Deep yellow. High toned fragrance. Moderately sweet apricot, some wood. Excellent acidity, very nice elegance and length, slight bitterness at the very end.

All Sauternes, All Night (R & G Lounge, SF): Oooh this is good, a definite step up from the starting pair. Luscious texture, more unctuous and richer, but also plenty of acidity. Effortless on the medium+ finish. A little confit lemon, lovely inner mouth perfume of white flowers and grapefruit peel, medium spicy botrytis, and fans out into a complex array of golden raisins and some tropical fruits.

Youthful, stunning, bright and cheerful. Surprisingly delicate, but lovely depth and very well balanced. Lemon verbena hints, light honey, really long. Yum.

All-sauternes dinner; 12/2/2023-12/3/2023 (R&G Lounge, San Francisco): Opened the morning prior to dinner. Lovely light golden color; aromatic, honey, white fruits, peach, a hint of tropical; youthful, sweet but balanced, medium-plus acidity, great complexity, a bit of citrus grapefruit pith but not as much as in some vintages, some lemon verbena; long finish. Youthful but perfectly balanced. 94++ Over the evening and on retaste, and in context with some other wines, this was just rocking. Complex, balanced, not too young or awkward. Really spectacular wine that ended up the best of the night for some participants. 95++

Lovely de Fargues, quite big in stature but with the acid to match. Alongside the clementine, lemony nose there’s an appealing verbena note that I like. Creamy, fresh, energetic - lots of life ahead. Maybe I am under-rating this a tad?
