Bright brick red; excellent clarity. Very aromatic nose of spice, cherry and prune. In the mouth, cherry, cola, bacon fat. Rich and smooth, w/some tannin (!). A beautiful wine, with a lot of life remaining. It was drunk with poached salmon after opening, and finished the next night with roast chicken. A winner on both occasions!

Opened with a touch of nail polish on the nose, but that blew off and settled in with a nice Burgundian vibe of mushroomy, floral, and spicy scents. The beguiling nose didn't quite follow through on the palate, which seemed listless and flat with a clipped finish. I felt as though I was a couple years too late to the party with this one.

Given that I have almost always been disappointed by older Oregon and California pinots, I was stunned by how well this wine has held up. Although now 18 years old, in my cool, humidity controlled cellar, this wine will live another 5 years. And it was gorgeous: rich, full, balanced. Perhaps not as complex as a great older Burgundy, but better than any of the many 95 burgundies I have had over the last year. Lovely. VERY enjoyable.

Older Oregon Pinots (Wildwood, Portland OR): nose: sexy and polished nose that took a bit to unravel, but emerged with beautiful tones of red fruits, roses, violets, red cherries and a bunch of fresh picked berries
taste: plush medium/full body with medium+ acidity and silky tones of red fruits, roses, red cherries and fresh picked berries. Very well layered and regal on the palate
overall: I really wish I had more time with this. This was everything I wanted and then some. This just kept getting better and better with more air and was my personal wotn
