Popped and splash decanted. Let sit on the counter for 24 hrs. Deep purple in color. On the nose: cedar, blackberry, a touch of charcoal, cassis. On the palate: fine acidic tang, blackberry, char, spice. Soft finish with fine med tannin. Very good already with lots of air, but probably a lot better in 5-15 years.

This is a really lovely wine. After a short decant this really opened up. Notes of violet, licorice, and a touch of tar. I could drink this with or without food, all night long. I had the 18 when it first came out and was not that enthused. I tasted this at a zachys tasting and was blown away. These won’t last long in my cellar.

(at Petit Louis - Baltimore). A glorious Gloria that is drinking well this evening. Bold and slight polished texture does not mask the typical Saint Julien elegance. Pure fruit with tobacco and fallen leaves. Delicious - may close down. Excellent value. (93)

Dark, rich, complex with bold tannin. Enjoyable after a 2 hr decant.
Save other bottles for a few years before trying again
