Dark garnet in color. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & cassis with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, spices, tobacco, graphite, herbs & a hint of cedar in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, lush, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & cassis with spices, herbs, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but will develop further with additional aging at which time it may merit a higher score (94+).

Similar to the stunning ‘05, with black currants, blackberry, sweet cherries, cedar, wet tobacco and lavender. Long and sumptuous, with fine, layered tannin. A very robust middle and cut on the backend. The body is almost full, but there’s elegance throughout. A total winner and designed to cellar. Evidently a true classic Clerc. The baby Mouton. Drink 2026 -.

Quite forgiving on the nose on opening. Red currant and cherry. Palate is dominated by black and blue fruit…hints of graphite emerge, perhaps portending where this will evolve. Good typicity for this stage.

The nose opens with a display of flowers, cherry pipe tobacco, spices, and currants. Medium-bodied, elegant, fresh, crisp, and clean, there is a nice sense of purity to the array of red fruits along with a touch of spice, and vibrancy in the refined, soft, mildly, dusty finish. This is going to be gorgeous to enjoy in its youth, although it clearly has the ability to age and improve for 2-3 decades with ease. Drink from 2025-2050.

Union Grands Crus Bordeaux (UGC) 2020 Tasting (Hangar 14, Bordeaux): Currently austere and tight this has good potential with some soft, fruity merlot lurking around.
