Mature Rioja (The Medlar, London): Very clean and fresh on the nose, not even the mocha richness I usually get with old Imperial. Just starts to show it with air. Medium rich, smooth and long. So complete. *****

Moccha, prune and vanilla on the nose. Palate is a very thin but long. Very, very tertiary. End of life, and more for the curious than the bon vivant. Faded into vinous oblivion after 10 minutes in the glass.

Spanish Treasures #2 over Lunch at Arzak (San Sebastian, Spain): Lighter than the '62, but still good for its age. Mostly orange fruit on the nose. Palate was not as big as the '62 either, but still some nice smoke and charcoal with a peppery finish.
