Decanted 45 minutes before dinner and than drank over 3 hours or so. Very good from start but needed 1-2 hours to really open up. Fuller in the beginning and lighter and more hamoneus at the end. Drink now with a 2 hr decant.

A bottle brought be another friend to our house from a joint purchase a few years ago, this was about half of a bottle left from a dinner the previous evening. It was a nearly opaque dark garnet with dark black cherry, graphite, licorice, leather and chocolate and some noticeable brett which did take a bit off for me in this case. We have had better bottles of this notwithstanding it’s extended “breathe time”.

The 1989 Forman was a medium garnet red that had very little bricking. The nose after decanting for 2 hrs provided a wonderful smell of leather, cherry and chocolate. The mouth feel was soft with flavors of lavender, cherry, tobacco, some vanilla and other red fruits. The wine should be had over the next 2-3 years. A wonderful wine to smell and drink. score 93

Decanted at 5:30pm and tasted over the next 5 hours. Medium Garnet colored. Initially the nose was very herbal almost to the point of "vegetal" with a lot of green pepper, but this did fade a bit over time. In addition there is chocolate, cassis, pencil shavings and powdered chocolate. Nice mouth feel, especially after the first hour or so. The flavors reflect the nose in a nice rich mix. Nice long aftertaste, over a minute. Plenty of lively acidity given the age suggests 5-10 years of fine drinking still ahead. This bottle was just a little less layered than the last and had the slightly more vegetal element in the nose that I thought took just a little away from the overall impression.
