Seems to be past its best years but there's still some enjoyment here; green olives, red fruits and tarter citrus flavours framed with leather and developed sous bois elements on a gentle, lightweight frame. The tannins are fully integrated and it's a little soft in the mouth but certainly quite a pleasant drink if not compelling.

Still reasoanble depth to the colour, though is showing clear orange at the rim.
Subtle nose (better from a burgundy glass than bordeaux). A touch of tobacco and slightly woody gamey fruit. Better than it sounds but not overly expressive.
The palate is fine, with decent, even refreshing acidity. Quite backward fruit, with a touch of tobacco and perhaps some camphor as it warms. It's all surprisingly elegant with subtle complexity.

Drunk at Wadestown with David with Pizza and Kumera salad after J left for the airport. OK, spicy syrah flavours - finished a bit short and watery. Nice smokey taste, however.

Still vigorous smoky Syrah with good fruit and length. Still good for a few more years.
