From Coravin at Chateau. Dull ruby color with a distinct copper rim. Nose of leather, funk/brie rind, herbs, and dill. Fruit is fading, leaving this somewhat austere and burgundy-like. Touch of salinity. Still though, possesses an abundance of clean, bright red fruit and acidity. Palate is strawberry-rhubarb. Smooth, integrated tannin. Blend was unusually Merlot heavy in response to difficult vintage. The effort and quality is apparent, but the end result is fragile and tenuous. If you have these, drink them now before it's too late. 91-92pts.

From magnum. Decanted 3 hours with benefit (almost no sediment). Garnet with edge browning. Cherry, tobacco, light earth and oak/vanilla. Medium fruit on palate, edgy in the sense of acidity/tartness with some unharmonious tannins. Should hold here for a while, but unlikely to improve from here. On days 2 and 3, this remained tart but with soft tannins.

Well, I guess even Pape Clement could not escape from the ill effects of the vintage. The nose was not bad, but the palate was a bit sour. May have been better years ago. I should have given more attention to the suggested drinking window for this wine on this site.

A bit muted, dark berries, gains power in the glass, still tannic which is surprising given the vintage, I would give this more time in the cellar.
