France Trip Part 1 - Châteauneuf-du-Pape; 6/16/2006-6/17/2006: Tasted at the domaine w/ Laurent Charvin. Amber color. Dried leaves, a touch of brett. Dark brambly fruit. Tobacco and tea notes. A delicious, fully mature wine what speaks to the ageability of CDR.

Tasted at the domaine. I had the '95 a few times in its youth (actually, I first tasted it at the domaine in March of 1997). For me, the '95 was a bit hard-edged in its youth and really benefitted from a few years in the bottle. Now at over 10 years of age, the '95 is soft, with significant game and sous-bois characteristics. Excellent.
