Dark color. Initial very dark roasted fruit and meaty notes gave way to a more pure dark fruit. Good density in the mouth with a slightly diminished finish. Better with food. The chef's first impression was that this wine would be a great foil for oysters!

Drank alongside an 85 Jaboulet La Chapelle. Very different than the Jaboulet and I liked the Delas more. Smooth red fruit, black pepper, juniper, dried flowers and dark earth on the nose. Sappy fruit with a meaty undercurrent on the palate and more black fruited. Again, tannins fully resolved and fully mature but plenty of time left.

2011 Simple Series 9: Sean BOD (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck @ Paragon): Alcohol : ?? Decanted for about 1.5-2hrs. Slightly cloudy garnet, still dark on the core. This is unmistakably a 80s Hermitage and in fact most of the ppl got this right. A little bit wild with underlying sweetness of dried fig, ripe plum, cherry intermixed beautifully with cedar, gaminess, roasted herbs and mushroom. The nose is so welcoming and fragrance. Fully matured but still possessed good level of sweet dark fruits along with good acid backbone, mineral and dry extract. Quite juicy and the medium length finish with good persistent. This is indeed quite delicious and complete though a bit one dimensional.

Sean Birthday (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck): Unfortunately I did not get much out of this wine from the barrage of wines that night. But this definitely score points in the distinctiveness factor as it could only be from the northern Rhône. I would certainly enjoy drinking this elegantly aged wine by itself slowly over a night though as the texture was smooth and secondary characters have emerged.

Lovely elegant hermitage. Raspberries and cherries with smokey spicey undertones
