At Tuome in NYC. Really lovely showing here. Wine has aged flawlessly and is currently just where I like it. Black cherry, crushed violets, iron. Gorgeous velvety texture. Viva Volnay!

Firm, graceful, modestly dark fruited, reserved, proper acids, well balanced, subtle aromas of dried red meats & earth... & purple lilac. Needs 2-3 hour decant to show best. Medium length finish. Best years likely 5-10 years further along.

Dinner at D Cuisine (Chicago, IL): Perhaps a touch of dissolved carbon dioxide? Ripe and sweet, par for the vintage, with somewhat bulky tannins. Quite structural, and the oak pokes through on the palate a little more than I would like. The fruit is starting to brown and show some age; I wonder if it'll be there when the structure starts to soften.

Youthful nose displaying concentrated ripe black fruit, blackberry, black cherry, a hint of rose, boiled beef, dark spices and earth. There is a hint of oak. Excellent concentration, packed concentrated black fruit, rich and deeply toned, medium acidity, earthy mineral and a long concentrated black fruit driven finish. This remains youthful and there is not much secondary development. Although the fruit is generous, it will need another decade to reach the early peak. I would prefer to wait two more decades but I am not that young. It will eventually be a 95 point wine.
