  • Pale straw yellow. Young-smelling bright nose with aromas of lemon peel, pear, melon and a touch of light toast underneath. Poised and still fresh with lovely balance and acidity. The palate is full of spiced poached pear and honeycomb with a lovely round butterscotch note in the long finish.

  • Great surprise - I thought the wine would be already over the hill but it was actually showing very well. The nose was still very powerful with notes of beewax, butter, kind of patina smell - with the oak showing a bit more with time. Quite deep and focused although not particularly complex. On the palate a lot of minerality, pure and focused, a lot of beewax/honey and again not very complex but well delineated. Nice finish and a perfect match for a mushrooms risotto - the acidity was cutting right through the fat of the risotto/parmigiano and the notes of butter were responding to each other in the wine and in the dish. On top of that the wine was simple enough not to be overcome by the power of the dish itself.
